Embrace the light (clairvoyant)-Chapter 31. Meeting Shani

We finally checked out of the cottage later that afternoon. We were heading back home and was picking up Milo at the so-called dog hotel when Walter's phone buzzed of an incoming call.

"Hi Shani, yes... she's here... yeah sure, okay wait..." Walter was on his phone, when he gave it to me moments later, saying Shani wanted to talk to me.

"Hi, Shani?..."

"Hey there Flo, sorry to interrupt your afternoon. But do you have time for a meet? I need to talk to you about Arkael, why don't I go to you, you're at Walt's right?"

"Yeah, we'll be home in about an hour. Alright then, see you later. Bye."

"What was that about?" He asked while taking Milo in his arm, I shook my head at him and shrugged. But before he could ask more questions, he laughed as Milo was licking him obviously excited to see him. Then he was barking at me, excited again making both of us laughed at the little pooch.

We arrived at his place forty minutes later. Walt was taking our stuff from the car, while I took Milo inside the house. He was barking and rolling on the floor, looking thrilled to be back to his usual surrounding.

"Come, Milo, let's get you set up..." I put his water bowl and gave him his favorite can food, which he finished in seconds. I left him at his corner, while I go to Walt.

We were having our coffee when Shani arrived, her expression made me worried. She looked dead serious.

"Wow, Walt... you really did amp up the barrier. I thought it was for one of your friends, but it's for you, isn't it? You know Arkael kept on bugging me with you being the chosen one thing. Honestly, this demon acted like his thing is the most important one. Sorry there Florence, but he really irritate me recently..." she was babbling, while we were still trying to listen to what she was going to say by coming to us.

"Shani... not that I don't want you to unload your issues with the evil dark lord here, but I... we really need to know about her being the chosen one is all about?" Walt said his mind, and Shani finally sighed and took a seat in front of us.

"Yeah... sorry about that, so... let me just um... set my stuff down..." she was setting down her oversize ethnic purse on the coffee table and fished out an old-looking book. It was a printed one, not the handwritten bind book that we saw days ago at her place.

She was flipping the page as she talks. "Arkael thought that you are the chosen one. Meaning you are the one that can finally break him from his curse. So, girl... you have one evil demon on your tail just because he thought that you can cure him from the spell and turn him back into a prince and find his princess and live happily ever after..." she laughed nervously to her own explanation.

At that same time, she stops flipping the book and open one page and give it to us. "The Damnation Curse of the Sorceress" it stated there that the curse could never be broken, unless with a special power of the chosen one.

"Damn, so what we saw was real, you also see it right? when he picked you up at then claimed you as his? you see his hand turned human-like, even paler color than mine?" I looked both at Walter and Shani, as all of us were remembering that exact moment.

"Erm... yeah, he kind of think that I was the key that you as the chosen one brought him to me, and now he kept on pushing me to made contact with you, and with both of our power, we should turn him back to human. But..." she was nervous, she was really considering that he might be serious.

"... I mean, we turn him into human then what? we unleash the evil from hell and make him roam the earth? and who would keep hell in peace if he's currently doing that? we might just unleash hell at the same fucking time... sorry bad word, I'm just so f-ing frustrated with this brooding so-called king of the underworld. I mean he's a fucking king... sorry... why would he descend from his throne? oh... fuck it! I'm so freaking..." she was babbling again walking back and forth pacing her steps in front of us.

Walt and I were looking at each other, somehow we could communicate even without voicing our words. We both sighed to that knowledge, I was thinking the worst but this I could handle, I think. I took his hand and take a deep breath and told her to sit down and calm down.

"Do you want something to drink Shani? maybe something strong?" I got up and went to the kitchen. I was about to get another glass for the coffee when she asked if we have any beer, saying she needs to calm her nerves.

Minutes later we were gathered at the coffee table seating while talking about the book, the writings, the possibility, even the how, then we and finally talked about the intention.

"You Florence are indeed the chosen one, and Walt.. do you know why you had all the misfortunes?..." she paused dramatically then continue, as both of us hold our silence waiting for her words.

"... you were being molded, your power grew with each misfortune, the sympathy, the sadness it made you who you are right now. You hold great healing power that Florence will need, you are the only person that could handle her, you Florence will have lots in front of you, but you will survive it all with Walter by your side. Arkael is one of those lots, more will come for your help once words are spread. I'm actually torn here, this is a double-edged sword... if you decided to help Arkael. First, you will definitely have his gratitude he would be in debt for the rest of his mortal life, yes... he would be a mortal once the curse is broken. But then with his broken curse it will act as a beacon to others... you will be known, you're looking at your future chaos..." she breaks to sipped her beer and put it back down and show us the Illustration for The Chosen One and The Healer.

Walter almost choked on his beer, while I hold his hand tightly. It was a picture of us, and it was on a very old version printed book that had discoloration on its pages. Our picture was in black and white, it was like a Polaroid picture of Walter and I clearly printed on the page. Walter was flipping the page looking at the picture, again and again making sure that it was real.

"Damn it Shani... have you seen this when you met me for the first time? have you known this whole time?" Walt asked her palming his face with his hand, he looked frustrated.

"No, it was Arkael, he brought me this book. He said my ancestor gave him this book, as I said he had been a demon for hundreds of years."

I was about to speak when the temperature drop, then we both looked at Shani as she cursed and grumbled something about a brooding king of darkness.

What is it with her and Arkael?

At that moment as if he was summoned, he was walking out of the mist that surrounds him. Milo was whining and barking lowly, and suddenly quiet when Arkael looks at his direction. But his attention was quickly directed to Shani, as she took another sip of her beer. She looked nervous and agitated at the same time.

"Shani..."
