Embrace the light (clairvoyant)-Chapter 23. Cursed

Walter's POV

"Dave, I know... just keep some one posted at the clinic, she should be fine, I'm just glad we found out about this earlier before anything happen." I told him in confidence, while inside I note to myself to pick her up earlier today and explain Flo about my conversation with Dave. She needed to understand the urgency of the situation, she needs to be more careful of her surroundings.

But that day I was buried with work, I wasn't able to get out of my office earlier. Until I received that dreaded phone call from Gabby, I knew instantly that something had happened to Florence. I was parking my car at the clinic's parking lot when she told me that Florence was gone, no where to be seen. I felt my body went cold, I couldn't think and move, I feel like I was torn, my heart shattered to pieces. This was greater than what I've ever experienced. I couldn't even cursed at my own destiny.

"Walt?" Gabby called my name again from the other line.

"Yeah, I'm at the parking lot, I'm here. Could you call Dave for me, sorry... I just couldn't... let me, I just... fuck Gabby, just call Dave. I'll be there in a minute." I hang up on her, as I try to gather myself. I finally mustered the strength and get out of my car and headed inside the clinic.

Gabby greeted me with her hug, while Ralph was looking unsure with himself. "Look I'm so sorry Walt, I should've... shit..." he was pacing himself in front of the computer, then showed me CCTV footage. I could feel my body went numb as I saw her being dragged out of the clinic then into a car at the lot. I took a seat, when I feel that I couldn't support my weight as my strength was drained out of my body.

I failed her... I should've protect her... and I failed her...

Minutes later I heard police sirens closing in, then Dave stormed into the clinic with his team. He was looking at me, and told me that she will be found. Then he was busy with Ralph and Gabby as he asked them questions and looking at the CCTV footage, then he quickly coordinate with his team.

The desk was quickly filled by his team, laptops were set as they started tracing her whereabouts. His men was busy typing on their laptops, as they searched the CCTV footage and identifying the mark and making of the vehicle that had abducted her. His guy was matching the traffic cameras footage as they looked for the same vehicle that had took her. He also had his other man scheming through the abductor's profile and looking into all the possible places where he might take her to.

I was still numbed, as I feel useless in all of this commotion. I slumped back to my seat, and Gabby tried to comfort me.

I should've leave her alone. She might be fine.

She wouldn't meet Marie... she wouldn't get abducted... I was all my fault.

I did this to her... It's my fault... It's my curse.

I was selfish... I should've not get involved with her...

"Walter, this is not your fault. You need to stop blaming yourself." Gabby took my hand in hers. She knew me too damn well, she knew that I would blame myself. I took in her positive energy that she channeled me. Then she took Ralph's hand and told him to sit with us. I could feel all their support as they pushed their energy to me, I could feel as the warmth was coming back to me.

Minutes later I feel a lot better, but I was still worried sick for her. And I could feel myself fighting my inner demon. I need her save, I would deal with my inner self later. I needed to focus on her.

"Got it boss! His car was spotted by the traffic camera near the city limits. I'm sending you the live feed to your phone now." One of his man yelled out to Dave.

"Okay, Ian you're staying here the rest come with me. Walter, lets go and get your woman." Dave said to me in a hurry as he pack his things, then out the door minutes later. He regrouped with his men outside, giving them last minute instructions. I joined him in his car, my adrenaline was pumping, but my mind was all over the place.

We reached the destination fifteen minutes later, it was an abandon warehouse. The place was dark, the surrounding was eerie, I could already see some entities were lurking at several places. I was on alert, the chatter among them were loud, they were whispering about a human and her guardian, how he saved her, how he killed the other human, how he embrace her in his power, engulfed her in his darkness.

I was too late...

The hooded lanky man, he was her guardian.

I failed her, and he had succeeded.

He had saved her.

"He's dead." I told Dave, he looked at me with a questioning look.

"Huh?"

"He's dead, the fucker's dead... her guardian killed her. He's the entity that has been following her since forever." I explained him, resting my back to the hood of his car. I was suddenly feeling weak, I felt like I needed to get away from there.

"Right... okay then, boys! you heard the man, let's clear the area first and find Ms. Patterson. Come on Walt, she might need a familiar face. Just stay behind me at all times, to make sure everything is safe and that he is really dead." Dave was giving out his instructions, making sure that we were still following the protocol.

Dave was one of the lead detective that has full faith with the paranormal and supernatural world. There were always something funky going on in this town, and he was one of the few detectives that were open to any kind of possibilities. Thus make almost ninety percent of his cases closed, unlike any other detectives on the precinct.

But he was definitely not prepared when he found the crime scene, blood was everywhere, pieces of human flesh scattered on the dingy warehouse floor. The smell was bad, really bad. The fucker's head looked like it was snap like a twig, and there was a hole on his ribs like someone tear his heart out. One of Dave's guy, went out the door in a hurry and puke his guts out.

Florence was sitting in the middle of the room, she was hugging her knees, her body curled up in a ball. She didn't even realize that we were there, she was still engulfed in his dark aura. She looked comfortable, she looked like she was in peace. Then seconds later, the ground shook as he noticed my arrival. He was mad, he was truly mad of my presence.

Shit!

Dave and his team were startled as he put everyone on alert, and looked every where for any threats. Then he look at me, as I shook my head no to him.

"You're good, it's him, her guardian is still here." I told Dave as he relaxed a little to my words.

I still didn't know what to do or what to expect, when I move closer to her. All I know was that I needed to know if she was hurt. He may not be able to heal her, she might need human medical assistance.

"Florence..." I called out her name softly. I could hear him groaning, but slowly relax his virtual hold on her. Then she looked at me and cried, babbling about how she was sorry that she had made me worried about her. Her tears falls, making my heart ached for her.

Then she looked at him and nodded her head to him, then he backed away from her and slowly fade away into his own darkness.

What the fuck?
