Chapter 57

The news that Michael had told them was horrific, to say the least; Daisy wished he had never told them; Noah was frantically trying to find a way to end the curse. He called in all kinds of favors and any wizards, witches, and elders he knew.

They learned everything about tiger shifter cubs, vampire children, and human children. Tiger shifters always come of an age where they get their cat counterparts at the age of sixteen, vampire children are born like any other children, but they gain their powers and the need for blood at age twelve.

Their daughter was pureblood like her mother. It was unknown what powers she would have, but she would be a normal human baby.

The prophecy didn’t give even the slightest clue as to which baby would be the one to die. It seemed that all they could do was wait.

The Ball was coming up. They had found several explosive devices. Every room was searched with a fine-tooth comb and then by a different guards set.

The searches went on till everyone reported that the rooms were safe again, then Michael sent everyone away, and he and Garret searched them again to make sure.

Michael was, to say the least devastated when he gave his daughter and son the news of the prophecy. He hoped that it wasn’t true, but when it was announced that Daisy was carrying triplets, he knew he had to do something.

He called the only being that he knew that might have a way out of the curse or a way to change it, something anything is better than just waiting to see what was going to happen.

He didn’t even know who made the original curse or why; that was very frustrating. Hopefully, The Baba Yaga Willow will know what to do. She was an ancient from the old times; she might know or understand where they could look.

She was waiting for her Raven to appear, though it was starting to make him worry. She may not choose to help. She may not be where he sent his message.

Willow was unpredictable. At best, no one knew all there was to know about her or what she does. The few that get the most miniature look into her world and life are the lucky few. The others are dead or worse.

When someone asked him if the Baba Yaga was evil, he would shrug because she can be good and evil. It just depends on how she is feeling. That was the best he could come to describe Willow.

There was just one more thing when dealing with the Yaga, asking a favor can either cost you everything or nothing at all. That is why he never asked anything of her till today.

Just as he was about to give up and go back inside, a raven’s call was heard as it descended from the sky; it landed right next to him, and in its beak was a small slip of paper it read…

“I will come.”

Daisy stared at the gown for the ball that she was to wear; she couldn’t even think of going to a ball no matter the reason. All she could focus her mind on was which of her babies would die and how she could prevent it.

She wanted to run as far and fast as she could away from all this fantastic world could offer. It was a shit world if she had to watch her baby die because of a curse that no one knows who sent or why.

What was the point? How could she be happy for her remaining children knowing that there was one that would never see the joy of living?

She knew that she would love her remaining two children and raise them to be happy and reasonable adults, but it would be tainted forever by the memory of the lost one.

Daisy would gladly take her baby’s place and offer her own life, but those things don’t happen in the real world; this isn’t a fairy tale where everyone lives happily ever after.

Her mind turned to the one thing that only her father, Noah, and she knew about. Could it save their baby? Guess it would depend on which baby it would be; how could they know that till the first full moon after their birth?

*****************************

Willow wasn’t all that surprised by the request from the Vampire King; she knew who had set that curse and what happened to them. She should know; she was the one that killed her. So her stupid sister’s legacy lives on. She had hoped that killing that bitch, would stop the curse.

Letting out a sigh, she knew that this wasn’t going to be easy, but the King had saved her life, a debt that must be repaid. This pain so many hundreds of years later were caused by one jealous sister.

She didn’t take any potions with her; there wasn’t any point to it. There was no potion in the world save one that might help it, and she didn’t possess such a potion.

There was only one way out of this mess, and they would not want to hear it. Michael may be strong and have vast powers, but he will not want to accept the solution either.

It was the only way; this was old magic, something with strict rules; there was no getting around it; if death must happen to release the curse, then that must happen.

The other thing was that because it is old magic, she would have to ask for a price, she didn’t want to, but that is what had to be done. Otherwise, the curse could still linger and find its way out again, causing even more pain than before.

Her damn sister did this. She wished she could dig her back up and kill her again. Hazel was always the nitty head of the three of them. She always messes around with people’s lives, and then when she is called out, curses the one she had previously professed her ever dying love.

Putting a few things in a small bag that she might have that would help, she dressed in her best clothes, after all, she was going to crash a grand party, she was off in a blink of an eye to the castle of the King, one place she had hoped never to set foot in again.

**************************

Garret and Enid sat silently in the kitchen, not sure what was going on; since Michael had talked to Noah and Daisy in private, things had taken on a dark, melancholy feel to them; neither of the two would smile, and if it did, it never reached their eyes.

Noah was constantly on the phone and talking urgently to many different people; Daisy had stayed in her room; she didn’t come down for meals or talk.

It was as if they were all holding their breath and running out of air, waiting for something to happen. When they asked Noah, he would wave them off as his phone rang again.

Enid tried to talk to Daisy, but Daisy would break out into a crying fit whenever she tried.

Garret even went to Michael, but Michael was silent, just sitting in his chambers in front of the fire staring into it as if he could find the answers to all the universe inside the flames.

They were getting desperate to find out what was happening, which was so horrible that it had all their friends in this state.

They even went to Daisy’s doctor, but he wouldn’t tell them anything even if he wanted to because of patient confidentiality. It was so frustrating trying to go about daily duties knowing that something you didn’t know would happen or might happen.

Noah was pissed; he watched as Daisy shrank into herself. The almost despairing look on her face made him want to beat something to dust, and it made Raja wish to kill.

There was nothing worse than an angry Tiger that felt helpless, and that is what they were both feelings; it was their job to protect and love their family, and to be told that they would lose one of their children without even a reason was not fair.

He knew that he should at least tell Garret and Enid, so they knew what was happening, but he couldn’t say the words aloud; it felt like it would somehow set things in stone that would not have been set before.

He hated feeling so helpless, he wished his father was here for some advice, but he was gone. He decided that he would have a private talk with Garret in the morning; perhaps he would have some idea at the very least it might help get some of this off his chest.

Noah was never one to cry unfair, but this went beyond anything he could handle. It was unfair. He and Raja did the only thing left for them to do; they went over and wrapped themselves around their mate as she cried herself to sleep.
