Frightened Isabella
Frightened Isabella
Isabella's POV.
I could feel my heart pounding so hard against my rib cage, which was followed by my cold tears as I navigated through the thorny shrubs; pain coursed through my being as I wondered if I was truly cursed.
'I know I have hurt you, but please find me; don't let them kill me...find me, if you can hear me, Isabella.' The voice of my aunt Theresa made me pause, my hands clutching together as I averted my gaze in different directions, wondering where I was in the first place. The sound of birds chirping and growling could be heard in the distance. It was more like people were approaching. I stopped, scanning my environment. I tried to navigate through the canopy of trees, but then I suddenly felt a hand grab me, which made me let out a scream. Another hand wrapped its fingers around my mouth. Tears slowly slipped down my cheeks, pain coursing through my being, wondering what might have happened. I can't get the thought out of my mind. I felt cold tears slip down my cheeks while wondering who it had been. I slowly turned and saw who it was, but there was no one in sight, and I suddenly heard her voice again, the voice of my aunt, seeking my help.
"No... no... no," I found myself screaming on my own, my throat parched; the silence that followed made me want to let out a scream, but I held myself, telling myself that everything would be fine, even though I didn't know what to think anymore.
'Run and don't look back,' a voice whispered through the dense and quiet forest. My feet are taking me farther than I can withstand, and I can't help but wonder what is happening and why it is happening so fast.
Then I suddenly tripped on a rock, my chest tightened, another set of tears found its way down my cheeks, and my head hit a rock, which made the pain even more unbearable. "Fuck..." I cursed inwardly while trying to calm my nerves.
I wanted to scream, but my voice failed me, my body weakened, my heartbeat slowed, and my vision blurred before I succumbed to the calling darkness.
"Isabella... Isabella..." A voice called out to me. I lifted my gaze to see who it was, but there was no answer. My eyes scanned, but there was nothing but darkness and a little light in the distance.
"Who's there?" I asked. Fuck, maybe I'm hallucinating again. Why can't this come to an end? I'm already exhausted from all the pain this has caused me, and it's slowly making me lose grip on myself. Right now I'm trying to act strong, but it's slowly failing me.
The small light increased until I found myself back in the palace, where the place felt peaceful, the garden was lush and well decorated, the maids ran in different directions, and a beautiful young woman was sitting on a wooden bench very far from where I was standing, her smile intoxicating as she talked happily with a man around the age of Zakuski.
"She's beautiful, right?" A voice said behind me, which startled me; I almost fell to the ground, but a hand wrapped around my wrist. His eyes bored into mine; it was Fine Man, hazel green eyes, beautiful luscious lips, and an athletic body, and to crown it all, his neatly trimmed brown hair made my heart race faster than it should as I stared at him, wondering how someone could be so perfect.
He smiled. "I have received those stares several times when I was alive."
"Alive!" I exclaimed.
The captivating smile that was once on his face suddenly vanished. "Yes, Isabella, you are the only demon with the capability to see death. I had tried reaching out to my son, but to no avail, until I saw you vulnerable in the Forest of the Death. Most people never survive when trespassing in this forest, but I'll help you back safely to the dragon kingdom, only if you help me."
"Help you? How will I?" My voice trailed off as I started walking away from him; I was shaking my head in denial. What if I'm no longer alive? What if I have to find a way to make things right again? What if I won't go back anymore? Many questions were asked at once, so I don't know which one to answer first.
"Listen, Isabella, I don't have much time with you, but you see the woman over there." He stopped while pointing his index finger towards a lady who was wearing a red cape while knitting a red fabric.
"Yes..."
"She's the real mother of Adrian, the dragon killer, the dragon whom all believed was cursed, but the truth is that young man is more powerful than he knew he was."
