Chapter 35
Chapter 35
|| VANESSA'S POV ||
I waited for his decision with my head down to the ground. After the meetup in his chamber, I didn't want to meet his eyes. Cedric spoke after a long pause, his eyes shifting between me and the girl,
" You are going to be responsible for her actions. Are you sure about that? No one but you will be responsible for her safety until someone looks for her."
A big smile bloomed on my lips. I couldn't help but look up at Cedric happily. Somehow the girl reminded me of my past. I was helpless just like her when they took me in their pack. Just when our eyes met, I saw the desire sparkling in Cedric's eyes. It reminded me of the position that I saw together.
Taking my eyes off them, I thanked his decision awkwardly, the war god seemed upset with the decision,
" It's your kindness, Your Highness! I will do everything to keep her guarded. Please allow us to leave."
I gestured at the girl to follow me outside. Before leaving the room, she glared at Ares one last time before following me again. I couldn't understand the reason behind her hatred but her look made me laugh. It seemed like she was no less than a child.
I brought her to the maid quarter. To my surprise, she didn't look surprised with the castle and surroundings. I asked her nicely, giving her one of my clothes,
" What's your name, girl? You are so young and wild."
She smiled big and took the dress from me, her eyes shining with the youth's aura,
" Aria! My name is Aria, sister. Ah..are we going to live here?"
The word ' sister ' melted my heart instantly. As I grew up without a family, I had no one to call mine. When she addressed me, I was genuinely happy for her warm greeting. I nodded my head and pointed at the other bed,
" Yes! You will stay there with me. Don't you remember anything about your family? Are you lost or is there any other issue?"
Aria smiled awkwardly as she rubbed her neck. She seemed hesitant to share any details but I needed her words. Finally, she answered with a long sigh,
"I have no one in my family. I was wandering and got stuck in the kingdom. That's how they caught me."
I felt pity for her as she reflected me in so many ways. Letting go of the painful topic, I asked her casually, preparing myself to do my duties today,
" Anyways.. what types of work you can do? Cooking, cleaning, dishing..."
Aria bit her lips down tight as she looked lost. After a while, she coughed and replied honestly,
" I...I actually can't work. I don't know how to do them all."
Aria's response made me speechless. I looked up at her strangely as a rogue like her couldn't survive without any working skills. Still, I thought of her reckless life and sighed heavily, wishing to teach her a lesson,
" Goddess! How did you even survive all these years? Anyways. I will show you how to do chores, Aria. Follow me around."
Aria smiled sweetly and went on changing clothes in front of my eyes. I shook my head helplessly since it was evident that Aria was still a child.

|| DIEGO'S POV ||
" No one had seen the killing, Alpha. How are we supposed to find the evidence?"
Zach reported a bit frustratingly. I gave him the charge to find out what happened to King Cedric's sister in our territory. It was a little difficult since it happened years ago and I had no idea about it. My father was in charge during that time. My grandfather helped him in difficult matters. After the war in our pack, I took charge without any experience.
I cursed under my breath, rage boiling through my veins in anger,
" Fuckkkk!! Keep searching! Keep looking for the evidence! Just one proof! I need Elnora back in my pack."
I couldn't lose my position because of that stupid girl, Diana. She was a good fuck but the position was more important to me. A voice was heard from the doorway before I could respond, my attention shifting to that voice,
" Diego! Are you determined to bring that wench back?"
I looked behind to see Diana standing. She never interfered in my matters but these days, she was poking her nose in my business too much. My face went white in rage. Thinking about the baby in her stomach, I responded a bit softly,
" Diana! You aren't supposed to be here!"
Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked up at Zach angrily. Zach took his leave awkwardly as he passed me a meaningful glare. Diana spoke right after Zach left, her words choking,
" How can you abandon your child and focus on that wench? She isn't worthy, Alpha. Don't do this to us."
I wanted her badly to abort the child. But Diana was a bit of a dramatic person. I didn't want her to provoke my pack against me. So I endured everything until I brought Elnora back to the pack. I smiled while faking, bringing her closer to sit down,
" You are mistaken, honey. You are the most important person to me. If I don't take any steps now, I will be humiliated in front of the whole kingdom. Please understand that I am doing it for our future. As long as I find evidence, I can make this work for us."
Diana looked at me deeply as if she was trying to believe my words. After a while, she sighed and shared a piece of information,
" Well...I believe in you, Alpha. I had a friend from the dragon tribe. She once shared with me that a werewolf with psyche power can see the past by touching the dead flesh or shell of a dragon. Though I have never tried it before, you could probably try this."
I looked down at Diana in astonishment. Sometimes she was worthy of trying. I asked excitedly, finally seeing a bit of hope,
" Are you sure about that?"
Diana shrugged, standing up to leave the room,
" It was just a tale. I don't know the truth."
After Diana left the room, I summoned Zach again. He looked confused by my questions,
" Do you know the grave of King Cedric's sister? Any idea where she was buried?"
Zach fell into deep thought before he replied,
" She was buried in the small village first. Later her body was recovered and buried again in the dragon castle in a proper manner. Why do you ask, Alpha?"
I smirked and plotted everything instantly,
" We need to dig her grave. Do you know anyone from our pack with psyche power?"
Zach shook his head and answered, his brows furrowing tight together,
"No, Alpha. But I think. I can search for such people in our neighborhood packs. Digging the grave of that late princess? King Cedric will destroy us all, Alpha."
I couldn't fear less about the consequences. Shaking my head, I replied through my gritted teeth in a determined voice,
" NOO! In hell! I must find the grave. I don't care about the consequences. In need, I will take help from Vanessa but I am not letting my position down. Zach! Find out the exact location of that grave. I must find some shells."
