Micah opened his eyes slowly, but the moment the first rays of sunlight hit him in his face he groaned and closed them quickly again just when a door opened and a man’s voice made him to open his eyes again.
“Morning! I got you something, thought you might need it” Avius rumbled while walking over to Micah’s bedside and put a drink and some pills next to it.
Micah groaned some more as he turned side wards, placing his legs on the floor while grabbing his head with both hands.
“What happened, what time is it?” Micah mumbled while slowly taking a sip of his drink.
“It’s just morning Micah, you passed out last night so I put you here in my spare room” Avius replied curtly.
Micah frowned while closing half his eyes as he tried to rack his brain about what had happened last night but came up empty.
“Why did I pass out….and how om earth did you get me in bed?!” He asked curiously before swallowing the painkillers.
“The news i gave you about Luca” Avius answered him while moving some stuff around in the room.
“Ow….right…so that really happened then? I mean us talking”
“Yes Micah we talked about me, about Snow and your father…who actually isn’t your father….anyways you just freshen up while I make us some breakfast and then we can go out for a walk afterwards and talk some more if you want, the nature is really beautiful around here so”
“Ok, sure, do you have some spare clothes I might be able to use?”
“Oh yeah sorry, of course I will put some of my own on the bed while you shower*
“Cool and….thanks” Micah replied a bit awkwardly since he isn’t used to be this friendly with an almost stranger…
Once Avila’s was out of the guestroom Micah stripped out of his clothes and walked over to the bathroom and turned the shower on.
Underneath the hot stream of water he let his mind run free. Could he really trust this man? And if so how could he use him for his benefit? Micah thought while soaping up his hair and body.
Maybe he could ask his mother…
“No….nope not gonna happen Micah!” He muttered to himself out loud while rinsing the soap of his body. When he was done he got out and started drying himself before he stepped into the bedroom again.
Ten minutes later he entered the kitchen where Avius just finished cooking breakfast.
“Take a seat” Avius only said while busy with pouring some coffee.
“Thanks, smells good” Micah stated while taking a seat.
After Avius put two plates with door ans coffee on the table he took the seat opposite Micah and started eating. Micah followed his example, feeling completely empty.
After some time eating in silence both men finishes around the same time after which Avius removed the plates and cups and put them with the rest in the dishwasher.
“Let’s go take a walk” Avius suggested while putting on his jacket.
Micah followed him outside after ha had put on his own and jogged a little to catch up with the strange but friendly man.
They start to walk towards the woods side by side, in silence.
After a while continuous walking in silence Avius stopped abruptly at a huge tree trunk which was covered in a thick layer of dark green moss.
“You’re okay?” Micah asked while looking around.
“Yes, why do you ask?” Avius answered.
“Ehm, well why are we stopping in front of this big tree?”
“Well Micah, because I believe that beyond this tree lies your happiness!” Avius says while placing his palm on the tree trunk.
Micah frowns and crosses his arms. “What are you talking about? Don’t play games with me old man! I am not in the mood of more games because that’s what my mother and “wife” already doing very well so…!”
“Relax Micah, I am NOT the enemy here ok, I know you are in pain…and I want to help you but you have to trust me completely otherwise I can’t help you understood?”
Micah sighed rubbing his forehead while thinking. Should he trust him, could he? He already gotten stabbed in the back multiple times by now by his own freaking family so why was this man different? He asked himself briefly.
“Why I am different? Well I could have harmed you by now, but I haven’t so that should show for something right?” Avius answered his silent question making Micah’s jaw drop slightly.
“You…how…how did you?” He stuttered.
“I am not from your world rember?”
“Yeah, as you said before yeah, I just….I don’t know…I find everything so hard to believe and don’t know anymore who to trust.” Micah muttered.
“I understand but I think for now that you don’t have much choice since the enemy is closer to your home then before am I right?”
“Yeah, unfortunately yes, alright I’ll go along with you but if I find you are playing games with me, I will make sure you will pay for it, don’t forget who I am!” Micah growled on which Avius nodded in acknowledgment.
Micah watched as Avius turned towards the tree again and waited while Avius closed his eyes while mumbling some foreign words like a spell.
After some seconds the environment around them started to change. The wind picked slightly up and a blue bright light appeared out of nowhere in the spot where Avius hand was placed on the tree. Little by little the light revealed a gapping hole in the trunk that became wider and wider until it was big enough for a person to fit trough it.
“Holy sh”t!” Micha gasped as he watched Avius step trough the blue light into the tree.
“Come, don’t be afraid!” Avius says with his hand stretched out to Micah.
A bit hesitantly he takes the older man’s hand and follows him trough the hole.
Once on the other side the hole closes behind them after a move with Avius hand and another soft mumble of some sort of spell which Micah does not understand.
A shudder went trough his body as Micah takes his new surroundings in. “I think i know this place” he mumbled more to himself then to Avius.
“Indeed you do Micah, this is the land of the Snow Queen, the wastelands known by the folks who live here. Now let’s go, I like to be inside a warm place before a snow storm comes rolling in!”
Micah just nodded as he follows Avius to God knows where trough the thick snow.
A couple of hours pass as both men walk in silence when finally they reach the gates of the Kingdom of the Snow Queen but what they see made them both stop in their tracks…
Avoid shakes his head and turns towards Micah.
“I’m sorry, I was hoping that….well we might be too late, but maybe you still have a change” Avius started and stopped.
“It’s her….right? She did this?” Micah asked while his eyes were plastered on the blood in the snow.
“Yeah, it’s Snow…she…she has become more word then I thought! Well, prepare yourself Micah! For you alone can change her, you. An save her with your love for her! Do your best because both our worlds depend on it!” Avius stated.
Micah just started at him not knowing what to say after this.
Could he really save her?
