Chapter 213 I Love You (CALIA)

Chapter 213 I Love You (CALIA)
I left Dr. Aldric’s office and headed to Elion’s room on the sixth floor. I pushed aside all my sadness and put on a cheerful face as I entered. He was scrolling through his phone, working. He never let a moment go to waste. Whenever his condition was stable, he made the most of his time by checking on his business affairs.
“Hey, babe. How are you feeling today?”
“Awful. What were the results?”
He didn’t look up from his phone screen. He was working with charts, so engrossed that he was ignoring me.
“You seem busy. We can talk about it after you finish your work.”
“I’m listening.”
“Why the rush? Take your time.”
He set his phone on his lap, his expression hardening.
“The results were bad, weren't they?”
“I didn't say that.”
“But your face says it all. There’s no need to sugarcoat it, Calia. I know the results weren't what we hoped for. The chemotherapy failed.”
“It didn't fail. It just hasn't been fully effective yet. We’ll try again next week.”
“I’m tired, Calia. I’m not doing chemo anymore. All those drugs just make me sick.”
“But you’ll get even sicker if you don't get any treatment at all.”
“Just let me be sick and die. I’d rather spend my final days making memories with you and Lea than rotting away in a hospital.”
“No, you have to continue the treatment. You’re scheduled for a comprehensive MRI scan tomorrow.”
“I don't want to do it anymore, Calia. I’m sick of all this. I want to go home right now.”
“No. You promised me you’d go through with the treatment.”
“I give up. It’s all pointless. I’m never going to get better. You’ve been lying to me this whole time. You’ve been spouting bullshit, when the reality is there’s no hope left for me. I’m going to die.”
I was furious to hear him say that. My frustration was so intense that tears began to roll down my cheeks.
“Don’t you ever say that in front of me again,” my voice trembled.
“I love you. I want you to get better.”
“I will never get better; you have to accept that.”
Elion turned his gaze to the window.
“And I hate seeing you cry. You wasted your tears on an asshole like me.”
“I never cried because of you. My eyes watered because you said things that made me so angry.”
“I’m not a child. I know you were crying outside my treatment room. I know you well, and you can’t fool me.”
He wouldn’t look at me. I walked past his gurney and stood right in front of him. I stared straight into his blue eyes.
“Then don’t make me cry, asshole. Do whatever I tell you to do because it’s for your own good.”
“I’m tired. I want to stop all this nonsense. When I’m gone, I want you to move on with your life. Find a better man, or you can go back to Dimitry. I won’t stand in your way anymore. You deserve to be happy.”
“Bastard,” I grabbed his collar.
“My happiness is you. You have the gall to tell me to date other men after you turned my heart upside down.”
“I’m a sickly man. I don’t want to drag you into this pit of misery. You should be happy. Find someone better than me, and live happily with him.”
I clenched my jaw. I reached into my lab coat pocket and threw the test strip at his face.
“Asshole. After you got me pregnant the second time, you told me to marry another man. You’re a real asshole, Elion.”
“What?”
“Yeah, you heard me right. I’m pregnant.”
“You said you didn’t want to get pregnant, and that you were going to get a shot from your friend.”
“Well, I forgot. A lot of things happened, and I was busy with my patients.”
He picked up the test strip and stared blankly at the two red lines.
“You’re not trying to trick me into continuing that shit treatment, are you?”
“You think I’m that petty, huh? I’m pregnant. I didn’t even expect to get pregnant this quickly.”
“We’ve only done it once and you’re pregnant right away? Either you’re overly fertile or—”
“Or you have super A-grade sperm.”
He laughed, truly laughed—leaving me dumbfounded.
“What’s so funny? You were just raging, then sulking, and now suddenly you’re laughing?”
“I’m laughing at our lives. You’re pregnant while I’m sick. I wonder what God actually has in store for us.”
“I believe God’s plan is the best one. So, don’t die. We need you.”
His gaze shifted from my face to my belly. He placed his palm there before planting a gentle kiss on it.
“No woman has ever loved me the way you do. I don’t know what I did to deserve all this. I’m a mobster, a sinner. My hands are dirty and stained with blood. But you’ve made me the luckiest man in the world with all your love. I love you, from the bottom of my heart.”
I stroked the top of his head as Elion embraced me, resting his head against my stomach. The moment felt surreal. We had finally found peace after weeks of utter chaos.
“I love you, too. But to reach true happiness, we need to fight one more time. Will you fight for us once more?”
He looked up, gazing at me with love and a renewed determination burning in his blue eyes.
“Okay. I’ll fight for you and our children.”
I rested my chin on the top of his head. Even though the future felt frightening and uncertain, as long as we had each other, I was sure everything would be all right.
"Thank you for fighting for us."
