Amelia's p. o. v
"I feel better," I whispered softly while looking at myself in the bathroom mirror.
My lips were slightly swollen and had a light shade of red.
I moved my hand and brushed my thumb against them gently, I couldn't help but smile.
My mate was sexy and very handsome. His hand in my hair made me excited too.
"Do you think our night together will be magical?" I asked my wolf silently but she couldn't reply.
I sighed and dropped my hand. Who was I even lying to?. He wasn't going to treat me any different from the girls he had sex with so far. I was only a slave in his eyes anyway.
I turned and walked out of the room, immediately my eyes set on the male figure laying on the bed with his back towards me. I moved my hands to my lips to hold in my scream.
"Mate."
My wolf purred happily, calming me down.
I was startled for a second, but laying there was my mate. I was too distracted to even hear or smell his amazing scent in the bathroom.
I dropped my hand then took in a deep breath and released it.
"Talk to him." My wolf urged.
"Alpha," I called softly then frowned when I inhaled the scent of liquor from him.
No way!. Was he drunk?.
"I think he is drunk." I said silently to my wolf then quickly moved to the wardrobe and grabbed a baggy dress that was in there putting it on.
I quickly opened some drawers and sighed in relief when I found a few pairs of new undies.
I took one and put it on after removing the tag.
"I'll try and wake him up." I said to myself then walked to the bed.
"Let him sleep, what if he gets angry at us and hurts us." My wolf growled in warning.
I rolled my eyes and went to stand in front of him.
"Are you really concerned about our well-being or are you desperate to sleep next to him?" I asked seriously.
She kept quiet and just huffed in response.
I wasn't surprised with her actions because I felt what she felt, and that was wanting his closure.
I leaned in looking at his handsome sleeping face.
He looked very calm and kind in his sleep. If one was to tell me how cold and terrifying he was after seeing his sleeping face, I would have laughed it off and called them crazy because he looked nothing like a cold arrogant Alpha.
I moved my hand and pressed it on his cheek gently as beautiful tingles spread throughout my body.
"You sure are very handsome Ian," I whispered softly then tensed when his hand grabbed my wrist.
He slowly opened his eyes and looked me straight in the eyes.
I gasped loudly and quickly lowered my gaze to the ground with a loud beating heart.
Oh my goddess, what did I do!. He was definitely going to be angry and treat me badly!. He made it clear how he hated to be called by his name and to be touched!.
"Alpha I'm so sorry, I swear on the goddess, I'll never touch your face aga ....."
"What's your name?" His husky voice came through.
It sounded friendly and a little deeper than usual.
"A... mie..., my name is Amelia." I stammered then quickly looked up and met his eyes when he chuckled softly.
I quickly lowered my gaze in fear, bore my neck, and bit my lower lip.
By the red glow of his eyes I could tell I wasn't talking to Alpha Ian but his wolf.
"Amelia is a nice name for a beautiful mate." He said.
I froze at that moment and everything seemed to stop.
What did he just say?. There was no way I was hearing it wrong, right!. Or was it his way of pushing me down and making me hurt again?.
No, I wasn't going to respond to his words.
"Look up mate." He said strongly.
I didn't want to give in to his words but I couldn't stop myself. I looked up and met his eyes.
His happy expression instantly turned into a sad one.
He lifted his hand and was about to touch my face when I flinched.
He paused for a second then sighed softly.
"I am not Ian, I am Axel." He said softly, surprising me.
"We are nothing alike too." He continued.
"I understand how you would fear me to the point of tears, but rest assured I can never treat you badly or hurt you." He said as I frowned and moved my free hand to my face in shock.
Why was I crying?. I had no idea that I was even shedding tears.
"I... I .." I trailed off not knowing what to say.
"You don't have to cry in my presence because I accept you as our mate." He said.
Those words not only made my heart ache, I couldn't hold back the frustration, fear, and sadness I had been holding back. I broke down and cried loudly.
Those were the words I wanted to hear the very first day we met, this was how I wanted to be treated by him. Now that his wolf was saying them to me, I couldn't help but feel a lot of different emotions at once.
I was pulled in his embrace as I sobbed bitterly.
He slowly lay down with me resting my head against his chest and slightly hitting there with my hand.
Why did Axel take this long to meet me? Why was he telling me this now!.
"He doesn't want me." I sobbed.
"I know, but I do." He whispered while rubbing my back gently.
"You married someone else who isn't me. How could you do this to me!" I screamed loudly as I sat upright furiously.
He slowly did too and faced me.
"You both are horrible for a mate!" I spat.
A low growl of warning came from him scaring me.
He was looking at me in anger.
"I don't know what to do and feel for the both of you. You make me feel lonely, hurt, and lost." I cried as his expression softened.
"If it makes you feel any better, you can hit me. But I won't allow you to reject us." He said fiercely.
"I'm a virgin." I whispered.
"I know." He answered softly.
"I saved my body for you. While I was going under all sorts of bad treatment for rejecting the males in our pack, you were here enjoying another woman's body and warmth." I said in a cracked voice.
He was quietly staring at me sadly.
"You know how shocked and torn I was at discovering how you had a Luna?. As if that wasn't enough, you treated me badly and made me her slave!. Fine, let's say you aren't Ian, but still Axel, how could you let him do that to me!?" I asked loudly.
He sighed then moved closer and pressed his hand on my wet cheek gently.
"I acknowledge my fault as well Amelia, and you have all the rights to be upset with the both of us." He said softly.
"I am scared of him." I sobbed.
He pulled me on his lap and gently embraced me.
"Not to justify our actions, but by now you must have noticed that something is wrong with Ian." He said.
I slowly nodded as I tried to calm myself down.
"Ian is different from other alphas and our kind." He said.
I wiped off my tears and looked at him.
"What do you mean?' I asked huskily.
"Due to something that happened in the past, Ian can't feel the mate pull. That's why the day you talked to him he acted that way, I too was unsure of who you truly were to us. I could feel the attraction and need to be with you but I couldn't tell if you were our mate, it took until that night you grabbed his hand and ran with him, that was the first time I inhaled your amazing scent and felt the mate's pull. At that moment I was sure that you were the one but Ian wasn't." He said, shocking me.
"I know how shocking this is to take in but it's the truth. Ian and I have had women throw themselves at our feet claiming to be our mates. We got tired of those words and began striking down whoever said those words." He said then brushed a strand of my hair backward.
"Look, Amelia. I can't promise you paradise or Ian's love and devotion, but I can promise you mine. I will try by all means to love and protect you from any harm, that's my word as both your alpha and mate." He said seriously.
I blinked back the forming tears and smiled.
I could tell that he was really speaking from the heart and that meant a lot.
"Thank you, Axel." I whispered then wrapped my arms around his neck.
He truly was the mate I wanted and waited for.
