Breakfast Interrupted

“Hi,” I greeted Noah, suddenly feeling awkward.

He walked around the counter and pulled me into his arms. “Good morning, little one.”

I snuggled into his arms and pressed my nose into his neck to breathe him in. The moment I was surrounded by his scent, I felt as if I had come home again. I never wanted to leave this moment with him.

All too soon, Noah pulled away and brushed a gentle kiss across my lips. “How are you feeling this morning?”

I flushed and dropped my eyes for a moment. “I’m okay. How are you?”

Noah chuckled and brushed another kiss on my cheek. “I’m wonderful, sweetheart. I’m just making sure you are too sore or hurting this morning.”

“Oh,” I replied, feeling a bit silly.

Of course, he was asking how I felt this morning. After all, it was my first time last night. He was a sweet, wonderful man that wanted to take care of me as a Dom should.

I opened my mouth to answer him when he tipped my head up, so I could look him in the eyes.

“I want an honest answer, sweetie,” he warned me.

I flushed slightly. “I am a little sore. But it’s not bad, all things considered. Much better than I thought I would be.”

Noah searched my eyes for a moment, then smiled warmly. “Good girl.”

I melted under his praise, and my heart glowed with love for him. “Thank you, Sir.”

I was dying to tell him exactly how I felt, but I wasn’t sure how to get the words out of my mouth. I had never told anyone other than my family that I loved them. Well, besides Molly, but she was like family anyway.

No matter how badly I wanted to say something, I just couldn’t.

“Did you want coffee or something?” he asked me as he waved his hand over the counter.

I nodded, thankful for something to focus on something other than my unexpressed love for him.

“Yes, please. Thank you, Sir,” I replied, sitting at the counter.

He set the coffee in front of me and pushed the milk and sugar towards me. “You’re welcome, little one.”

I quickly made up my cup, noticing that Noah didn’t take his eyes off me the whole time as if he was trying to memorize the way I liked my coffee. As soon as I was done, he made himself up a cup. Noah moved around the counter to sit next to me then put his hand over mine.

“I don’t want to do this to you, but I gotta head back up to New York. I was supposed to head back there last night. But… well,” he got a wicked grin on his face. “You understand why I couldn’t leave.”

I giggled slightly. “I’m sorry for ruining your plans. Though I can’t say that I regret what happened.”

He pressed a kiss to the back of my hand; his eyes softened affectionately. “I don’t regret it either, little one.”

“But you have to go back to work,” I stated without any condemnation.

“Yes, and I’m so sorry,” he told me sincerely.

I squeezed his hand. “I understand. It’s okay. I’m a big girl, Sir. I can handle being without you.”

His lips turned up in a grin, and he gave me a wink. “A blow to my ego, little one.”

I ducked my head shyly. “I meant while you worked.”

He pressed a kiss to my hand. “I know, sweetheart. I was just picking on you. I don’t have a lot of time before I have to head out. Why don’t you let me get you some breakfast, then we’ll get you dressed and on your way home?”

I curbed my sadness and agreed. I would have agreed to anything just to spend a few more minutes with Noah.

He moved to the stove to begin cooking when his phone rang again. He looked at the screen and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“I’m sorry, little one. I have to get this,” Noah told me, then walked out of the room.

I sat at the table in the kitchen drinking my coffee until I started getting too cold and uncomfortable. Scooting off my chair, I moved off into the living room to try and scrounge up my clothing.

I could hear Noah talking upstairs, and he sounded slightly upset. It took all my control not to run upstairs to make sure he was okay. He obviously didn’t want me to hear his conversation, and I really needed to respect that.

I rounded up my clothing and slipped them on, then walked back into the kitchen and made myself a fresh cup of coffee. It wasn’t until I was almost done with that cup that Noah finally came back down.

His face was dark and thunderous. Concerned, I rushed towards him.

“What happened? Are you alright?” I asked as I reached out to him.

I was shocked and a little hurt when he pulled away, then went back to the bag he was packing.

“I’m so sorry, Becca. I know I promised you breakfast, but an emergency came up, and I have to leave now,” Noah told me as he began putting his things away.

“Sir,” I called to him feeling my heart jump into my throat.

Something was definitely wrong. Noah had been adamant about having to head to work, and now he was putting everything up as if he wasn’t going.

Noah stopped in the middle of putting his ice packs away. As soon as he saw the worry on my face, he stopped what he was doing and walked over to me.

He pulled me into his arms and pressed a kiss to my forehead. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. I just have some things that I need to, and I can’t put them off. I’ll take you home, then I have to head out.”

Noah sounded so stressed that I didn’t want to put any more on him. I pulled away and straightened my shoulders. I was a strong, independent woman, and I was adult enough to handle heading back home after a night of sex.

Hot, passionate, intense sex.

That would prove to him that he did not make a mistake last night. If that was why he was suddenly acting so strange, I wanted to help him put that notion to rest. I could take care of myself and wouldn’t be a simpering girl.

“I can take myself home. Don’t stress about it, Sir.” I gave him what I hoped was a bright and confident smile. “Just handle what you need to.”

I thought he would look relieved, but instead, he seemed more disturbed. Then he let out a frustrated sound and nodded.

“Alright. I wouldn’t do this, but I really have to go,” Noah admitted.

I held tightly to my smile even if I just wanted to whine about him letting me go so easily.

“Alright. Well, I’ll see you when you get back, I guess,” I told Noah cavalierly as I walked towards the front door.

Suddenly, Noah grabbed my arm and pulled me back around to face him. “Oh no, little one. You will not leave me like that.”
