Chapter 135 The end of Ronald
Chapter 135 The end of Ronald
Third Person
Ronald watched in disbelief as Lucy ran as fast as she could towards a particular direction. He didn’t like the fact that he had let Lucy make a fool of him. The whole pack was watching; why did he let this happen? The prize was right in front of him, and he let it slip away. He watched her run for a few minutes, then stared at Leonardo, who shut his eyes in despair. Before he knew it, he was running after Lucy at top speed, thinking he would catch her in a few minutes, but she hopped into a car that sped off at the highest possible speed.
Ronald gritted his teeth as he watched the car leave, then linked Leonardo, “Get me a car.”
“Don’t tell me you’re going after her.”
“Of course I’m going after her. Imagine what will happen if I don’t? Who will respect me as an Alpha? This is a huge dent on my honor. If I don’t fix it, I’m not qualified to be called an Alpha, and this pack won’t crown me as one.” Ronald stubbornly replied.
The pain of being abandoned at the altar was far greater than the embarrassment, so everything he was saying was out of pain rather than embarrassment.
“I will get the car,” Leonardo said immediately; he understood the repercussions of Lucy’s actions. A disgraced alpha will be deemed as weak if he doesn’t fight back, and a weak alpha is no alpha at all. Ronald would have to do everything possible to redeem himself.
Meanwhile, in Dalton’s hideout in the woods, he was alerted that Lucy was on her way to him. He grinned satisfactorily. If Lucy was on her way, it only meant that Ronald was on his way too; this was his last chance to make everything right. He couldn’t afford to mess it up.
He began to scent mark the grass so Lucy could follow his tracks and meet him at the edge of the cliff. He blended in safely with the trees nearby. About 20 minutes later, he heard footsteps quickly; they were headed for the edge of the cliff just like he had planned.
Lucy had arrived and was making desperate moves towards the cliffs, but so had Ronald and his gang. He had already deduced that Dalton was behind and had brought backup with him. His mission was simple; to push Dalton over the cliffs and end the battle once and for all. Unfortunately, Dalton had the same idea to make his troop tackle Ronald’s troop, and then he would face Ronald himself.
So as the chase progressed into the area near the edge, Dalton’s gang jumped into attack, leaving Ronald alone to progress. Lucy stopped running when she was nearing the cliff; her heart beat wildly as her eyes searched the area for Dalton. He had marked everywhere with his scent, so it was hard to tell where exactly he was. Nancy felt doomed as Ronald got closer and there was still no sign of Dalton.
“Dalton, don’t do this to me! Please tell me you’re around.” She pleaded when she linked him, but Dalton didn’t spring out until Ronald was about to pounce on Lucy; then, like a wild lion, he jumped out of nowhere and hit Ronald with his front paws, causing Ronald to shift into his wolf form out of self-defense.
The two scratched, hit, and toppled each other over in a fierce battle, while Lucy dashed for the woods, attempting to get away from the bloody scene. Dalton weighed his options and got even closer to the cliff, putting his life on the line. When Ronald closed in on him, he swiftly moved out of the way and pushed Ronald off the cliff, making him lose his balance. Ronald let out a loud howl as he fell down the cliff,
“I hope you never come back!” Dalton yelled, “Did you think I was going to let you win?” He stood there watching till he saw his uncle hit the ground very hard. His blood crept into the snow and solidified in little crimson crystals.
Dalton’s teams came running up the mountain and were overjoyed to see Dalton still standing, despite all his bruises.
“Alpha! Alpha! Glad to see you standing!” They cried.
“We can’t celebrate just yet. We need to collect the body this time. He can’t let him fool us again,” Dalton instructed as he began to go down the cliff. The troop followed after him till they were down the cliff. Ronald's lifeless body lay in the cold with his eyes still open.
Dalton stared at the only immediate family member he had left, but he couldn’t feel any form of pity for him after all he had put him through.
“In another life, I will kill you first, Ronald.” He muttered as his troop lifted the body and transported it back up the cliff. Dalton had forgotten all about Lucy and almost followed his troop out of the woods when Lucy caught up with him.
“Dalton! Dalton!” She ran up to him before he could enter the van they had brought. He stopped and waited for her to catch up. She ran into his arms, and he let her; he even returned her hug and held her tightly.
“I never thought this day would come. The day Ronald finally dies.”
“Me too. Thank you for making it possible.” Dalton thanked her while stroking the back of her head.
It felt great to be in Dalton’s arms again; he had been nothing but cold towards her for a long while, so him holding her this way made her begin to wonder if their bond had been restored. Maybe it had finally happened; what a relief.
“Dalton, we have to get going to the pack house. You have to announce your return.” Edmund quickly knocked them back to reality.
“That will be overwhelming for the pack. They heard about Dalton’s death a few days ago; how will they feel if they now hear a different story today,” Lucy interrupted.
“So what are you saying? That we don’t return to the pack at all?” Edmund snapped at her.
“Relax, everyone! Let’s get home first and decide what to do.” Dalton said.
Home? Lucy thought. Did Dalton just call his pack home? Does it mean that they were getting back together? Had their bond been restored? Poor Sparkle, what was she going to do now that she was carrying Dalton’s pup? Why was she even feeling bad for her? Sparkle never cared about her feelings when she snatched Dalton away from her.
She was about to follow Dalton into the van when he stopped her and pointed to another limo packed a few metres away. “Lucy, I prepared this ride specially to take you back home safely. In a few days, I will be sending you some gifts to thank you specially for making my victory possible!”
Lucy’s face went red with embarrassment, so even after putting her life on the line, her bond with Dalton still couldn’t be restored? Unacceptable! Now she had to deal with Sparkle herself!
