Chapter 103

Lillian

I had been running around every day putting pieces of evidence together along with Oliver to help Zayden's case.

It's been four days since he was put behind bars and I had gone to see him twice. At this rate, I was losing hope because his dad was bent on making our lives hell.

The trial would begin in two weeks but we still had no evidence for Laura's death. That was the major issue, but all evidence still points to him, and we still have not been able to counter it.

Tyrell was sentenced to death by the electric chair. He committed too many murders to even be granted the gift of life imprisonment. It was even risky as he might break out again and go on another killing spree.

His execution was to take place next month, I won't be going to watch because I've got better things to do. Unfortunately, he had no family members, so he was going to face death alone.

Aside from that, I had another issue. I had reported Aiden to the cops and requested an arrest. The recording and Sage as our witness were enough proof.

That was what I was currently working on, and I had to pause on Zayden till I successfully put Aiden behind bars.

I went with the cops to the office; I wanted to be there when they put him in cuffs, and I wanted everyone to watch as i revealed his true colours to the world.

The receptionist at first did not allow our unexpected visit, but the police came with a warrant, so they stormed the building; some nosy employees were already using their phones to video the whole scene.

Aiden was in a meeting when we burst through the door of the boardroom. All eyes turned to us immediately with Zayden's father particularly trained on me.

" What's the meaning of this?" The old man grinded out." Who gave you the permission to barge in like that."

I raised a brow as I threw a glance at Aiden, who was staring at me wide-eyed.

" Mr. Aiden Kent, you are under arrest for the planning and kidnapping of Lillan Kent." One of the officers stepped forward, holding out a pair of cuffs.

The whole boardroom turned silent, with tiny whispers echoing here and there.

Fire blazed in Aiden's eyes, I could see how he clenched and unclenched his jaw. His stare spoke volumes.

Zayden's father stood to his feet immediately. Of course, he would support his favourite son.

" Are you out of your mind! How dare you barge into my company and order my son's arrest." Malo yelled.

The officer ignored him and went to the head of the table where Aiden sat.

" You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney, if you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you." He recited and cuffed Aiden's hands.

" This is what you wanted right Lilian? To accuse me of something I know nothing about?" Aiden spoke, crooking a brow.

Pretentious bastard!

I didn't respond and just rolled my eyes. He's trying to act all innocent, just like he always does.

Zayden's father met my eyes immediately." Lillian, is this your doing? Are you trying to humiliate me and my family or did Zayden put you up to this?"

It was on the tip of my tongue to say some disrespectful words but I held it in." Your son here is going to pay for his crimes. He's the one bringing shame to your name, Mr Kent. In case you don't know, I went missing because Aiden hired criminals to abduct me."

He gritted his teeth as the cops led Aiden outside.

" No one even knew you got kidnapped! And now you are accusing my son? Be careful who you mess with, Lillian!" He yelled again, his white hair standing erect.

I turned on my heels." It's over for him. I'm not accusing your son,I'm simply bringing him to justice."

I didn't wait for him to speak and followed behind as the cops took Aiden to the elevator.

Now everyone had their phones out, Aiden would be on the headlines tomorrow and all his facade would be pulled off.

Aiden's father wasn't particularly happy about this, and I knew we had another war coming, but I was prepared for it, and if everything went according to plan, we might just as well get a lead on Zayden's case.

Aiden was taken to prison, and a trial was fixed as soon as possible courtesy of his father, who wanted to get his son out before his image died completely.

The media and public were like an erupting volcano. The Kent brothers have been put behind bars for crimes that have yet to be settled.

Aiden's own was way worse because he was already soaring high and creating a legacy for himself before his sudden dramatic crash.

On the day of the trial, we were already gathering in the courtroom, and I just went to confirm with the police in charge about Sage. Without her confession, we would lose.

I went into the bathroom to take a pee break and just as I came out, I ran into Zayden's father.

I moved to ignore him when he blocked my way.

"You're making a big mistake, Lillian. Don't cross the line." He snarled.

I nearly rolled my eyes. Honestly, I never liked this man, and I only grew to hate him more after I found out what he did to Zayden.

" I'm not doing anything bad, I'm simply trying to serve justice."

I moved out of his way but he placed his golden walking stick to block my path.

" Call this off, Lillian. I'm giving you this last chance." He spoke, his voice dropping to a dangerous degree." My hard work will go down the drain if both my Sons are put behind bars.My name had suffered enough with Zayden, don't make it worse."

I frowned." Excuse me, Mr Kent. Your son orchestrated my kidnap and you're telling me to let it go?"

He stepped in front of me again." I'm warning you. Do not bring my family legacy down. You already brainwashed Zayden and now he's useless. Do not ruin my son's reputation with your baseless accusations."

I chuckled, I see where Aiden got his traits from." Baseless you say? Let's see if my accusations are just baseless then."

I pushed past him, not bothering to look back.

" Let's make a deal then." He suddenly spoke just as I walked a few feet away from him.

The hallway was empty and quiet. Most people should have gone into the courtroom by now, but this man just wanted to create another fuse.

I took a silent deep breath, I should hear him out." A deal?"

" Drop the case on Aiden. Take back all accusations you have on him and apologize publicly for the damages you caused." He phrased.

I blinked, I should probably laugh, right? I'm not surprised to what lengths this man can go for fame and wealth.

" And then what?" I crooked a brow.

This man was beyond unbelievable...in fact, I have no words to describe what I think of him right now.

"I'll drop all charges against Zayden."

Silence followed.

His words refused to register in my mind at that moment.

" Isn't that what you want? I'll drop all charges, and Zayden will be a free man once again, and then you two can get lost for all I care."

I contemplated carefully.

" You want me to Let Aiden go free after the torture he put me through? This only means you were aware of what he did yet you want me to let it slide."

He shrugged." We make sacrifices for the people we love. And I'm sure you'll do the same for Zayden"

" Are you threatening me?"I snickered.

"Take it how you want but I already said what I said." He stared.

I scoffed; at least Zayden would be free, and we could finally live our lives peacefully, right?

And then the person responsible for my kidnapping would go free, I'll do anything for Zayden.

I stayed quiet for a few minutes, weighing my options. And then I made my decision. Zayden is my husband and I vowed to myself to help him as much as I can.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, no matter the consequences.
