Chapter 122
Blood Moon Showdown
(Aurora’s POV)
The night was alive with silence. The kind of silence that eats you up without you when knowing.
The estate loomed ahead like a ghost from another century, its walls broken, its windows shattered, ivy crawling over stone like veins feeding a corpse.
The moon hung blood-red in the sky, casting the ruins in a glow that felt more omen than light. It was as if the heavens themselves had dressed the night for slaughter and chaos.
I stepped out from the car, the crunching sound of the gravel beneath my boots echoing too loudly in the quiet empty night. My hands trembled, not from fear, but from anticipation, deep down I felt the sharp, gut-deep craving for closure of anything that concerns Tiffany.
I end it all tonight…
Beside me, Dominique’s presence was like iron, steady, unshakable, even though I felt the weight of his eyes every time he looked at me. He knew I wasn’t the same woman he had once pulled into his arms. Something darker lived in me now.
Damian walked just ahead, his stride purposeful, every step radiating that cold readiness he carried like second nature. For once, he wasn’t my rival. Tonight, we were bound by the same purpose.
The battleground waited for us.
And so did Tiffany.
\---
They came like vipers slithering through shadow, with their men dressed in black which was a stark contrast to the red we wore.
Tiffany’s laughter broke the night first, high and mocking, carrying across the broken courtyard like nails on glass. Alex walked at her side, his smirk carved into arrogance, though his eyes betrayed that restless hunger he couldn’t quite bury deep inside of him.
“Well, well,” Tiffany purred, stepping forward into the red light. “The little phoenix finally spreads her wings. Tell me, Aurora, how does it feel to rise this quickly only for you to burn by my flames?”
Her words rolled over me like smoke. In another life, they might have made me flinch. Tonight, I didn’t even blink.
“You’ll find out soon enough,” I said, my voice steady, low. Dangerous “When I burn you with that fire.”
Her smile faltered. Just for a breath, but I caught it.
Fear.
“Careful,” she cooed, recovering her emotions fast. “Your father thought himself brave too… look where he is now. Dead. Cold. Worm food because of you.”
Rage flared hot in my veins, but I didn’t let it control me. Not anymore. I stepped closer, every ounce of fury forged into steel. “My father died protecting me. He died a better person than you could ever pretend to be. And his blood is the last I’ll let spill because of you.”
Tiffany’s eyes glittered with venom. “Oh my my, We’ll see.”
Abd that was the straw that broke the camel's back as the first shot cracked the air like thunder.
Chaos erupted. Dominique barked orders, his men fanning out in bursts of gunfire. Damian moved like a shadow, knife flashing as he cut through two of Tiffany’s guards before they even registered his presence.
I moved forward, my eyes never leaving her sight.
She wanted me to see the storm, to lose myself in it. But I only saw her, the root of every fire that had consumed my life. My bloodline and hers are not meant to breathe the same air, one has to bow. And this time around, she would bow.
Without warning she lunged forcefully at me.
We collided like beasts unchained. Her nails raked at my face, mine clawed at her hair. She tried to shove me back, but I matched her with every ounce of rage I’d stored deep within mefor months, years.
The world around us disappeared, gunshots, screams, clashing steel. None of it mattered. There was only Tiffany and me.
“You think you’re strong now?” she spat, her breath hot against my cheek as we grappled. “You’re still the same fragile little girl who clung to men to save her. You're still the same shy, pathetic girl from 4th grade. Dominique. Damian. Even Alex. Without them, you’re nothing. You have always been nothing”
Her words hit hard, but they didn’t break me. Not anymore. I shoved her back, my fist slamming into her jaw with a crack that echoed in my bones. “Without them, I survived you. That makes me everything you’ll never be.”
Her snarl was animal. She grabbed a shard of broken glass from the ground and swung. I ducked, the blade slicing past my ear. My boot connected with her stomach, sending her staggering back.
“You can’t kill me,” she gasped, clutching her side. “You need me. Without me, you’re just a girl with scars and rage. I made you, I turned you to the woman you are, to the fiery girl that even mafia kings fear.”
I stepped closer, slow, deliberate. “No, Tiffany. You didn’t make me. You tried to break me. You fought to break me, And all you did was make me stronger and better than you.”
Her laugh cracked, shrill and desperate now.
“Stronger? Look at you, foaming at the mouth for revenge, dripping blood like an animal. You’re becoming me,but you can't see it.”
I stopped. For just a moment, I let her words hang in the night. Let her words soak deep within me. And then I smiled.
“No. I’m becoming free. Free from everything, including you.”
Her eyes widened. Just a fraction. Just enough for me to see the first flicker of fear.
I lunged, knocking the shard from her grip. She shrieked, clawing, but I drove her back, step after step, until her spine met cold stone. The moonlight bathed her face, and for the first time since I had known her, she looked small.
Her breaths came fast, sharp, uneven. Her mask was cracking.
I pressed the dagger against her throat, my hand steady, my heart a storm. Her lips trembled, but her words tried to hold weight.
“Do it,” she hissed. “Prove me right. Be the monster. Spill blood like me. Kill me, and you’ll never wash me off your hands.”
Her taunts were poison, but they no longer seeped into me. My grip didn’t falter. My eyes bore into hers, unblinking, unbreaking.
“This isn’t about becoming you,” I whispered. “This is about ending you, once and for all.”
Her bravado cracked. I saw it, the terror blooming in her eyes, the way her throat bobbed against the blade.
The silence stretched, heavy, unbearable. The war around us faded into a blur.
It was just me, her, and the choice I had to make.
Her back was to the wall. Her mask shattered. And for the first time, Tiffany looked exactly as she always should have, weak, desperate, afraid.
I raised the dagger higher.
Her scream cut through the night.
And the blood moon high up in the night bore witness as the world held its breath, watching my next move.
