Chapter 56: She swallowed the orb

Liam dropped the phone after the call with Nicole, he went over to Amelia's room and stood out the door feeling guilty and sad. He called her countless times but no response, it was as if she hated him now, she didn't want to see or talk to his gut, he knew he deserved it even though he didn't mean any of what he said and getting no response from her makes him more sad and guilty but probably, it's for the best. He sighed and left but little did he know that she wasn't in the house.

" I want to follow you", Amelia said again as she held onto his shirt,

" you don't even know where I'm going", Ryan said chuckling,

" I heard you telling Williams that you are going to Liam's site".

" Ho", Ryan realized and was a little bit disappointed, ' she wants to go because it involves Liam ', he said in his mind and turned to her, " You sure you don't want to go to Bree",

" no, I will go there later",

"Okay then, fine", he said reluctantly and took her along with him.

Some minutes later, they arrived at the site and saw few people there because it was still early in the morning but they saw one of Liam's people that had been chased out of the rock.

" hey", Ryan walked to one of them, " good morning",

" good morning, how may I help you",

" hmm, I came to check something here",

" with whose permission?",

" I am Liam's friend",

" ho, but Liam is not here",

" I know".

The man was quiet for some seconds, "Well I am Nicole by the way". He introduced himself.

Amelia who was out of the discussion felt so energized suddenly, she felt the presence of a familiar power and it was drawing her, she walked into the rock without anyone noticing or watching.

Ryan was still speaking with Nicole when Liam's car pulled up.

" Talk of the devil", Nicole said.

'ugh, my plan wasn't for him to meet me here '. Ryan groaned within.

" Ryan?", Liam was surprised to see him there, " what are you doing here?",

" no good morning?".

" Cut to the chase already", he said impatiently,

" I came...to check up on you",

" on the site?",

" and you question you",

" about?".

Ryan tried not to stammer or blinked his eyes, ' gosh he's so smart, give it a break'.

" I came to question you at why would he let her off by that time",

" what are you saying?",

" you let her get out of the house at such a late hour",

" Who are you talking about?",

"Who else are you living with?".

Now it dawned on Liam what he was talking about.

" you mean she came over to your place last night?", he said raising his voice,

" you didn't even realize she wasn't home? how irresponsible",

" where is she?",

" she's here", he pointed as he turned but they saw no one except for the few workers walking around.

" where's she?",

" she was here", Ryan said looking alarmed,

" yes, she came with him",

"Probably you shouldn't blame me for not looking after her, you can't even look after a lady standing beside you", Liam said to Ryan and walked away.

Nicole took a step back and suggested they check the other way.

Liam walked into the rock but David's workers that was inside wouldn't let him in so he had no choice but to sneak into the rock through the other way.

" I have enough on my plate but yet again I have a lady who has the habit of making me worried", he grumbled as he sneaked it. He halted on his track with his whole body frozen, his eyes widened and his jaw dropped as he watched the scene that unfold before him. It was something unbelievable, something shocking that he couldn't comprehend but yet, here is he, watching it with his eyes wide open.

Amelia stood in front of him with her close as she absorbed the orb that quietly and slowly went into her through her mouth. In a few minutes, she absorbed an orb with a bright light surrounding it that no human could go close enough to it, yet the lady in front of him swallowed it.

"Who the fuck are you?", Liam said loudly enough for her to hear. She turned at him looking so normal except that she was panting lightly. She was also shocked to see him, her heart was heavy, scared and nervous that he was going to run away from her, she refused to take a step closer afraid he was going to take a step back so rather, she stood transfixed on the spot.

" I just asked, who the fuck are you?", he asked again but the cat caught her tongue.

He walked briskly to her, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her out of the rock along with him.

" we need to get out of here", he said not letting her hand go. She was surprised.

' he held my hand? even after seeing that? Is he not afraid of me? what's his plan? is he going to do what they did to the mermaid to me also? will Liam do that?', she kept asking herself countless questions as she got dragged away by Liam.

Ryan and Nicole were distracted by their findings due to the commotion that was happening, they hurried to look at what was going on.

" what's going on here?", Nicole asked one of the workers that was running out of the rock,

" The light",

" What happened to it",

" it disappeared",

" what?!", Nicole couldn't believe it and ran into the cave. Ryan was about to follow him when he saw Liam running away with Amelia. He was baffled at what did the two did.

"Did they perhaps...steal what they are looking for?".

Nicole was shocked when he saw that the orb they found suddenly disappeared, he looked around and saw that the manager was putting a call through to David and also heard one of them saying that they saw Liam wanting to come in but they didn't allow and then a few minutes later the orb went missing.

" could it be?", Nicole also got confused as he wondered if Liam was the one that took the orb but another question is how?
