Chapter 55: Liam got betrothed

Ryan and Williams were still discussing when they saw a black car pulling up in front of the restaurant.

" who's that by this time?", Ryan asked as they both remained quiet to see who it was.

" Amelia?",

" David?",

" What the hell happened in just a few hours that I left".

David and Amelia walked into the restaurant to meet four piercing eyes.

" Hi", Amelia waved with a smile while Williams waved back and quickly sent a text message to someone.

" Amelia! Are you okay?", Ryan asked as he held her shoulder and checked her out,

" yes, I am fine",

" why are you with her?", Williams asked like he was interested,

" saw her on the street, wandering around",

" Is that so?", Ryan directed back at Amelia and she nodded,

" I don't want to stay in that house".

And of course, Ryan understands that.

" And why don't you just take her home?", Williams asked again,

" she didn't say she wants to go home... she..",

" you mean you brought her here because she said she didn't want to go home",

" yes",

" so you helped her run away from home huh?".

David burst into laughter, " I don't understand, I just helped a lady in distress get to her destination like the gentleman that I am",

" are you?",

" of course I am",

" I doubt that, tell me, what's your motive?",

" do I need to have one",

" If it's you...yes",

" well...I have none, she's very beautiful, and leaving her all by herself is dangerous, and I don't even know you all are friends",

" Of course you don't", William replied harshly causing David to eye him suspiciously,

" let me get this straight, this is because of your friend right?", he asked and burst into laughter when Williams didn't say anything,

" I thought as much", he shook his head in mockery,

" I still don't know what you are talking about", Williams lied,

" ho really?",

" What did you do to Liam?",

" Why don't you ask him by yourself",

" Sure, I will, but let this be the last time I see you with Amelia",

" we'll see about that",

"It's fine Williams, he just helped me get here", Amelia defended.

He smiled and said in his mind, ' Sorry Amelia, I just don't want to rush my hot meal, he's going to see us close together, on our wedding day '.

" I should be on my way now since this is your ' thank you ",

" Please close the door properly behind you", Williams said with disdain in his voice.

David scoffed and smiled at Amelia before leaving.

" What's that for Williams?", Ryan asked knowing fully well Williams was up to something when he started querying you.

" was just stalling time for someone".

' I knew it ', Ryan said in his mind.

" for who?",

" for an errand boy", Williams said with a satisfactory smile.

"What are you two talking about?", Amelia asked with curiosity.

" Umm never mind", Ryan said coughing, " let's talk you inside, it's late you need to sleep", he said and took her into a room upstairs where he tucked her into bed gently.

George and Sarah laughed out loud along with the Cyclops.

" The youths of nowadays are something but they are more creative, especially in terms of technology and they are also obedient to their parents", Mr. Hathorn George said,

" You can say that again", Mr. Cyclops supported his point, " and one way we can support them is by helping them gain power, wealth and power work hand in hand, one must have both and that's why I dwell into politics",

" You are right of course, and that's also one of the reasons why my husband and I are here",

"We talked about that earlier and like I said you have nothing to worry about as long as I'm here", Mr. Cyclops said as he sipped his wine.

" Did you know what excites me the most?", Mrs. Cyclops began and they all gave her all their attention, " It's the betrothed conversation, I mean, betrothing two best friends together is something so beautiful, they've known each other so well and who knows they might have had feelings for each other as well", she said and they all burst into laughter of joy, especially the Harthorns whose plan is working accordingly. Mr. Cyclops coughed in disapproval.

" I have to say this, Sophia is my second child out of four but I will never force any of my children to do things out of their own will, I will seek Sophia's consent first of all, if she agrees with it then I'm good",

" of course I understand, we also did the same thing, that's how responsible and good parents do so we understand",

" Thanks for the understanding",

" we should cheer to the beautiful union", George raised his glass and they all cheered.

George and Sarah went back home with smiles on their face while The Cyclops were left behind in the garden.

" Honey", Mr. Cyclops called his wife,

" Yes?",

" did you see what I'm seeing?",

" what exactly are you seeing?".

Mr. Cyclops sighed and relaxed into the chair while he sipped his wine.

" I'm ready to support them politically but I don't wish to involve the children",

" I understand your concern but trust me Sophia has feelings for Liam, she has always told me about it and I'm sure he's also aware of how she feels, they've been best friends for so long so you don't have to worry",

" you are very sure about your daughter's...what about the man's feelings",

" I don't know much about Liam's feelings...but I can confirm from Sophia so I will have a conversation with her when she comes back",

" Sure, you do that, but note... ", he gave a but which his wife also supported, and when Sophia heard about it she couldn't be happier.

" Oh my goodness!!!", she screamed in joy, " Just as I've wanted, I can't believe this...", she danced in joy.

Her mother asked about her connection with Liam and she assured her that it was deep enough, proceeding by telling her that Liam kissed her recently and that he has feelings for her.

Mrs. Cyclops was happy to hear this and she congratulated Sophia in advance.

Sophia couldn't wait for the day to break, she couldn't even sleep, she kept tossing with grins on her face, ironing her best dress as she couldn't wait to meet Liam the next day and their other best friends to share the joyous news.

" He was always mine, he has always been mine and even the universe is in support of it".
