Chapter 71: To Not Die

**The Demon’s Love **

*Chapter 71: To Not Die*

Evangeline’s

My eyes shook at her words, as though I have only realized now that I wouldn’t know the answer if I don’t ask or communicate with him. However, I didn’t want him to live in criticism nor the responsibility to always protect me. The Duke and Duchess has given me a chance to awaken my powers, if so there’s a higher chance that people will accept me after that.

I am not afraid of loving and accepting him, what I am afraid of was the fact that there’s no way to know what life has to offer in the future. I don’t know if his feelings would prevail until forever. I knew for sure he was genuine and sincere but what if he gets tired of me since we came from different upbringings? Or what if it was another way around that I found it laborious to keep everything with him?

Thinking about everything only makes me doubtful. I merely smiled at the Duchess, sighing helplessly.

“…. I should think about it.”

Amari nodded her head understandably. “Of course.”

“Then, let’s talk about the hieroglyph.”

She smiled wider, “Sure, that’s good.”

I stood on ground then cast a glance at Amari who gave me a simple nod as if to give me more courage than I already was. With the help of Zaren, and Terry, everyone were floating in the air – they were held by Terry, who looked so handsome it was hard not to be distracted.

I was also trained by the Duchess so I knew a little bit of fighting to make sure if there was an emergency, I could protect myself. I took a deep exhalation, lifting my chin proudly and then begun writing in the air.

I heard Louis behind me, “Don’t be scared, I’ll catch you if you fall.”

I pursed my lips. He really didn’t leave me alone during the time we were together here. Other than seeking for legitimate excuses like watching me train and if ever I slacked off he would punish me. He even had me eat while I was training, forced me to eat with him. Somehow, I didn’t hate it, rather I found myself wishing we’d stay like that.

When I completed writing in the air, I looked at Amari who hurriedly put her Fire Power in it then guided it on top of the Mountain. As soon that happened, the knights on hold summoned their powers and attacked the mountain. To defeat Darkness completely, we must unseal it and kill it personally. After that, Zaren walked, motioning to summon his omniscient formidable power. Louis who was behind me, held my waist then attacked the Mountain.

He placed me behind his back.

“HAHA! Humans are really something,” a woman’s voice, sounding eerie and retarded resonated loudly and I frowned at the heinous voice she had. I thought Darkness was a man, not knowing it was actually a woman. Such a turn of event. The voice resumed, “Let Darkness teach you all a lesson that acting omniscient would do you no good.”

Just then, people popped out of nowhere and directed their Dark Magic onto us. Amari summoned her Fire Power, burning the Dark Magic while Louis assisted the knights, who fought the souls who tried to take the sanity of the left knights.

I, on the other hand, kept writing in the air. The next second, I only knew, Louis has locked me in the barrier to keep me safe. I thanked him using my eyes to which he smirked, before he continued fighting. There was a small hole to which I seized, giving the hieroglyphs I have established. I coughed, feeling that I must had been overusing my little to no power at all.

“Kill!”

“Hiyah!”

“Turn around, Amari!” That was Zaren, who timely caught Amari, thinking she’d be attacked. She assured her husband with a simple shake of her head.

I looked down on the mountain then I noticed it was crumbling. I pursed my lips and I closed my eyes. This is my time to shine. Again, I wrote in the air, this time putting my own accumulated power in it. Afterwards, I attacked the Dark Magic which was trying to harm the knight. It vanished then I guided the seals I have made to shoo the souls.

“HAHA! Well let’s see how you can keep up with that power of yours!”

The female voice again sounded. I grunted, feeling suddenly weak. I swallowed my saliva, focusing on my task. Terry, who was unmoving, suddenly summoned his sword then fought with Darkness personally.

“This Dragon just don’t stop, but I will follow along! Foolish humans!”

The voice snickered then I unconsciously looked down. I gasped, seeing that Amari’s Uncle with three people who looked like officials arrogantly looked at me. Before I even knew it, a power attacked my chest to which I coughed. Writing hieroglyphs would take me a long time and I might die in the process so I bit my lower lip.

I fought them with my little power and when I thought I was going to die miserably, Louis held me once again then attacked them. He landed on the ground, putting a stronger barrier while I was inside. I helplessly watched him kicked and swing his sword strongly against the enemy. Uncle Inlan tried to break the barrier, but another power stopped him; it was Amari.

Amari smirked. “It’s been a long time yet being amputated didn’t change one thing from you.”

Uncle Inlan grunted. I looked at him then gave him paper spell. In an instant, he stumbled on the ground then Amari swung her sword. Uncle Inlan dodged it by using his Dark Magic. I became frustrated. Why am I jailed inside this barrier? I promised to help them so why are they keeping me here as if they cherished me the most inside here? I hate to be belittled.

“Aaahhh!”

I yelled then the barrier broke. I jumped upwards, helping Louis to kill. He anxiously looked at me while panting.

“What in the world are you trying to do breaking that barrier?”

I firmly told him, “I promised to help, you don’t need to imprison me like that!”

“I am protecting you.”

I noticed a sword directed at him so I pulled him closer to me, and gave him a spell I have established before we came here to kill and to put our lives on the stake. I coughed up blood but I merely wiped it.

The only thing I knew, a power was running inside me and I confusedly looked at Amari.

“You can’t die.” She panted and I smiled in determination.

“I won’t ever die.”
