The meeting

"What did you say?" Uthred asked as his eyes blazed like a fiery furnace and he glared at Carly.

Only one look from Ubba and she was finally aware that she had really blown it, she had messed up big time.

"I'm sorry. I mean, I'm sorry that I wasted some few seconds before responding to your calls. I promise you it won't happen a second time." Carly pleaded unlike her and Uthred stared at her with a smug look ams a smile etched on his lips.

"Now that's a good girl. Everyone meet my newest edition, Carly. I believe she'll be very useful, won't you Carly?" Uthred asked and Carly bit her tongue to dissuade the swear word that was about skipping out of her mouth.

Why did everything have to be so hard? She thought.

Even pretending was as hard as building a house.

"I promise to do my best in whatever way it would benefit the city." Carly tried sounding neutral as she avoided their eyes and Ubba just chuckled.

"Is there anything so funny, Ubba?" Uthred asked, his gaze turning sharply to glare at Ubba.

"Not really my Lord, sorry for intruding the meeting." Ubba said twitching his eye brows and Uthred twitched his eye brow before rolling his eyes and returned his look to the elders.

"Wait a minute, can I ask just one question that would be answered without having my life on the balance?" Carly questioned and Uthred stared at her thoughtfully for a while before nodding his head.

"Sure, ask away." Uthred stated opening his arms like he was actually inviting her to throw all of her questions at him like an arrow.

Staring at Ubba, she could hear his voice in her head warning her not to act rashly and not even think of opening her mouth to question them but her curiosity had gotten the best of her.

"This is the demon kingdom right?" Carly asked and Uthred nodded whilst sipping his wine.

"And—" She was trying to say before Uthred cut her off abruptly.

"You said one question." He reminded and she heaved a sigh before looking up at him in the eye yet again.

"Well them forgive me, because my question has sub parts and trust me, everything I'm going to ask is co related." Carly enunciated and Uthred muttered a 'hmm' before nodding his head indicating that she could go ahead.

"And you're the leader with your council with you here right?" Carly asked yet again and without muttering a single word, he nodded yet again and this time, Carly suddenly forgot the part of been a good girl as she placed both hands on her waist.

"And the guys we saw on our way here are your warriors?" Carly asked again and this time, the anger that was flowing in her veins was almost visible to anyone close by to her.

"Yes Carly but I don't see where your question is leading." Uthred commented thoughtfully and Carly clicked her tongue before commenting.

"Oh no, hold on. You'll see it." Carly said with a bitchy kind of tone.

"What's the meaning of that?" One of the council men asked and Carly broke out into laughter.

"Do you know how hard it was trying to contain my laughter right from the time I stepped my feet right here in your meeting room? You all looked so ridiculous and trying to put on a hard cover is just so funny." Carly stated wreaking in a contagious laughter that Ubba had to bite his lips to stop him from smiling but anyone who stared at him closely could see that he was grinning or rather smiling really broadly.

"Because you're demons or loyal to Lord Augus beast doesn't even give you half a sliver of a chance to what's going to hit you." Carly snarled and it was Uthred's turn to break out in laughter.

"Now tell me, what's going to stop me..Carly?" Uthred asked and leveling her gaze with his, she said in low tones.

"I can't tell you. All you have to know is that revenge is served better in red and when i mean red, I mean the peppery red." Carly Snickered and was about walking out the door eventually when she felt two strangw people behind her and before she knew it, they had cuffed her and taken her back to the dungeon.

"Well, you didn't inform me that you were that stupid. Seriously?" Ubba howled as he came to my cell and I felt like using my hands to rip out all flesh from their body.

"It's too bad. Only the heavens or hell maybe would be able to know how you would survive." Ubba commented and began walking away when she decided to read meaning into what she had said.

"What do you mean?" Carly yelled from across the room and he pivoted to smile at her before replying;

"Uthred gave your your first punishment, congraulations. And this one is more like fasting though because you're not to be served any food or water for the next two days. Congraulations once again, you earned it." Ubba commented rather sarcastically again and Carly rolled her eyes.

She hadn't even said anything that would make them start been mad and she already got two days of starvation?

How interesting!!

~~

It was two days already and Carly had somehow managed to scale through her punishment alive which was a good start because she had to be able to survive a lot of those here if she wanted to leave anyway.

"You know you have to scrub really hard so the floor shines not just gaze at it." One of the tennage girls around her age snickered at her and Carly felt like adding the girls blood to the list of red liquid that was running down her hands at this point.

"I need to know how that is any of your business." Carly demanded dropping the brush and detergent water that she was supposed to be used to be cleaning.

"Well, it's my business because you've been scrubbing the same spot all day." The girl shot back and Carly chuckled evilly as she thought of the evil and slow way to rip the girls heart apart.

"Carly, come here." Granny called out and that was enough to pull Carly out of her head and weird imaginations of blood spread all over her face.

"Granny, I've been looking for you all day. Where have you been?" Carly asked and Brida was taking aback that her daughter was actually feeling some kind of responsibility to take care of their grandmother's.

"Where else would I have been? I was just running errands and taking care of why is supposed to be taken care of and that's what you should be doing not arguing." Her granny corrected and her eyes dilatd a bit as granny smoothened her hair.

"I can't help but feel pissed whenever someone gets on my nerves but that's past now. Granny, we really need to leave this place." Carly urged and Granny took her face away.

"Granny, stop acting like you fancy this place. I've seen some of your tasks here and you're trusted. You surely know a way of getting us out of there." Carly challenged and Granny heaved a sigh.

"Why do you think I would help you?" Granny finally asked and it dropped like a bombshell on Carly.

"What do you mean?".

"Why should I help you? You banished my beast to death ad was pretty much happy when I was declared dead and not just that, but you also killed my daughter, your mum and her best friend."

"Why would I ever want to help you Carly notwithstanding the fact that you're my grand daughter?"
