Carly’s war
"Listen up granny. If you think that been my grandmothr means that you can call me out for all my sins them be my guest Nana. I literally don't care and you know me, I bear the consequences of my actions without batting an eyelid. So quit acting like you're just getting to meet me okay, it's freaking me out." Carly complained tugging her hair in frustration as the realization of the hell hole they are in struck her spirit.
"So there's no going back huh? I have to be their puppet." Carly said resignedly as she rested on the hard wall.
"Not just that but you have to be useful. Give them what they need. As for me, I'm sure I'll survive some more weeks since your memory is back." Brida said with a face filled with smiled like she was finally getting the hang of what life was all about.
"What?" Carly questioned tilting her eye brows and Granny nodded in affirmation to Carly's unspoken question.
"Well then. I guess this is the game I have to Play." Carly said resigning and just like in concurrence to what she had said, her stomach rumbled out of hunger.
Who was she kidding?
When she was offered good food, she acted too headstrong and refused to it.
And when she was offered leftovers, she was too proud and way into her head and poured it all over the place and now she actually needed anything edible else she wouldn't be able to guarantee her heart pumping by the next minute.
"Granmy, can I get some of those beans?" Carly asked in a low voice as she stared at her grandmother who stared at her like she had something on her face or had suddenly grow horns overnight.
"No honey. You threw your share of the meal away and I would be in big trouble if I tried to sneak in another for you. You know the worst part, you threw it in front of everyone so it would be weird seeing you eating in front of them." Granny stated and Carly just stared at her blankly like she ahsdjust uttered the most outrageous thing known to man.
"Seriously? You're not going to make an exception even for your grand-daughter. Trust me when I say you were better off dead and you've not answered my question yet on how you're dead but not dead because if there is anything it is, then it is absolutely bone shocking." Carly reminiscinced and Brida stared at her, giving her that long lasting look that a predator always gives it prey before eventually killing them.
"Carly, just let it go..okay?" Brida said before exiting the room.
"Of course." Carly said as she clutched her stomach out of hunger.
The worms in her stomach were threatening to tear down her intestinal wall and the war going on inside of her was not by any means getting funny.
Her stomach growled and rumbled continuously that she had to look up a couple of times to be sure that no one had heard the sound.
The embarrassment that would flood in before she could breathe would be unimaginable.
"Miss Carly, the council would like to meet with you." A guard announced as he unlocked the doors to her cell and no matter how hard he tried to make it seem fun, it was no use.
She just held that long and dissapointed that was always on her face since the day she was kidnapped.
"Okay." She simply said.
Guessing that the open door was an invitation to exit the cell and go to meet the 'COUNCIL' she sighed and tried to hide any resentment she was feeling as she walked out of the cell.
"Carly." A male voice called with hoarse authority that angered her.
Swerving, she found none other than Ubba.
"Ubba, I suppose." She replied with a pokerface and he chuckled.
"You might want to start practicing how to smile because you're going to see the council and today is the day you get to see the dark part of Uthred. I promise you, you would hate it." Ubba commented and then the same thought that had come into her mind before he used a sword to engrave lines on her skin cam rushing forward again.
He was the most approachable of all the men she had seen.
Yet he was the least approachable.
"Where's Brida?" Ubba asked
"Wow, am I supposed to know? I didn't know I was so familiar with this surrounding that I could find my way around so easily and know where anyone is." Carly reiterated shootting him a death glare and he just chuckled.
One could never know what was running through the minds of these men because they always kept themselves as sealed as a closed hard cover book.
"There's no need to banter with her, I'm right here." Brida said from behind them and Carly rolled her eyes.
There was no way her granny was comfortable in the den of demons unless she had become a demon herself.
Even the pictures and drawings of the beast made Carly feel cringe.
Everyone was mute on the way to meet with the council as they had different thoughts running through their mind.
While Granny was grateful that Carly was able to remember her memories sooner given them each more spare to live, Carly on the other hand was much bothered at who the council was and why it was necessary to meet them.
"They are in here. Don't talk when you've not been spokem to an avoid eye contact as much as you can." Ubba suggested and this time, Carly decided that she was going to take his advice for real.
Beginning with working on her smile.
"Don't come in till you get my signal." Ubba chirped and grabbed hold of the door handle creaking it open.
"How do I know what your signal is?" Carly asked and he chuckled at the fact that she was beginning to act out of character.
The Carly he had met awakened would have never listen to him but it was no use whether she listened anyways.
Everything was in his favour.
Uthred was doing well at pretending he was the leader while Ubba who was the main king of demons laid low, under the shadow of one of the demon workers.
"You're up, Carly." Ubba's voice came from inside the room and Carly wasn't sure if that was the signal he was talking of but she decided that nothing bad could really come out from opening a door and looking inside.
Taking a deep breath and hesitating at the door, she finally got the courage to put on a brave face and walk in.
"Do you know how outrageous it is to keep the council waiting, Carly?" Uthred's voice came hoarse and demanding.
Everything about his time of speaking was exuding authority and even the giant of Giants was most likely to fall under his spell to revere him.
"I'm sorry but I was asked not to come in until I was called on." Carly immediately spoke up defending herself but as her eyes met with Ubba, he gave her a warning look and slightly shook his head in negativity and she knew she had said the wrong thing.
"And how many seconds wasit before you finally opened the door?" One of the spokesmen that sat at the big, circled table asked and though Carly tried her best to stay calm, the question was the most ridiculous she had heard in a while.
"You must be kidding me." Carly spat and Uthred's eyes turned bloody red.
You don't awaken a monster on his throne, you let him sleep
