Chapter 148 The fire dragon and ice wolf
Chapter 148 The fire dragon and ice wolf
Meanwhile, in another part of the area, Diane and Eula were locked in battle against one of the Knights of the Cross, Juggernaut.
Jugga and Diane were trading blow after blow, their fists colliding with neither side willing to back down. The surrounding area was already in ruins, but Diane was desperately trying to lure the fight further away from the town.
Eula provided constant support, using her ice to intercept the devastating shockwaves unleashed by Jugga.
Eula approached Diane to give another warning. "Lady Diane, we have to lead him away. The town will be destroyed if you keep fighting here!"
"I know," Diane replied, "but I can't push him back. He’s just too strong."
Jugga charged toward them once more. "Flame burst!"
The fire barely phased him; Jugga simply barreled through the flames, his momentum unhindered. Eula tried to block his path with her ice. "Ice wall!"
A thick wall of ice, nearly ten meters tall, erupted from the ground. Jugga slammed into it, shattering the barrier as if it were nothing. Diane followed up with a torrent of fire. "Flame thrower!" Eula combined her power with hers, launching an ice burst to keep him contained.
Despite their combined efforts, they couldn't stop Jugga’s advance. He reached them and delivered a crushing blow that sent both women flying. They rolled across the ground before crashing into a wall. They realized then that Jugga was shrugging off their attacks with effortless ease.
"Is that all you've got? I don't have time to play with the weak," Jugga sneered.
As he walked forward, a magic circle suddenly glowed beneath his feet. "Ice trap!"
Ice erupted from the circle, encasing Jugga’s entire body. Eula thought she had him trapped, but moments later, the fire from Jugga’s tail flared, melting the ice from within. With a display of raw physical strength, he shattered the remaining frozen shards.
As Jugga was busy clearing the ice from his feet, an ice spike struck him, but it failed to even scratch his armor. "Do you really think something like this can stop me?" Jugga boasted confidently.
"His magic barrier is incredibly durable," Eula whispered.
Diane didn't waste another second. She gathered a massive surge of energy and lunged at him. "Dragon blow!"
Jugga met her punch with one of his own. The force of their collision shook the very foundation of the ground. They traded blows, testing each other’s endurance; every punch sent shockwaves rippling through the earth.
As the exchange continued, Diane noticed that Jugga’s armor remained flawless, and his energy seemed inexhaustible.
"This isn't good, " she thought.
" I’m running out of energy, and I haven't even managed to scratch him."
Eula dashed behind Jugga to freeze his legs in place. Distracted by her movement, Jugga left his guard open, allowing Diane to land a clean punch to his face.
"What?"
Even though the hit landed, Jugga didn't flinch. Instead, he grabbed Diane’s arm and hurled her toward Eula. "Your attacks no longer work on me. Let me enlighten you about my ability."
Jugga revealed that his armor was a special relic capable of adapting to combat. Its energy could neutralize any physical attack, and the longer the battle lasted, the stronger the armor became with every hit it sustained.
Diane was stunned. She realized with horror that her powerful blows were only making Juggernaut more invincible.
"If you want to defeat me," Jugga taunted, "you need to land an attack ten times stronger than what you've been doing."
"Ten times?" Diane shook her head, knowing she couldn't risk it in their current position. "The town will be obliterated if I unleash Level 5 Dragon Magic."
Jugga raised his hand again, and Eula and Diane knew he was preparing another sound-wave attack. Eula refused to let him finish, casting another trap.
"Ice trap!"
Jugga was caged again, but he crushed the ice with his bare hands, the shards scattering into the air. "I already told you—ice has no effect on me."
Jugga raised his hand and slammed it into the ground with full force, creating a shockwave that sent everything flying.
BOOM.
The impact was so immense that Eula and Diane were blown away, tumbling across the ground. While they were still reeling, Jugga suddenly landed where Eula lay and kicked her, driving her three meters deep into the earth. The impact shook the entire Dark City.
"No, Lady Eula!" Diane screamed.
Diane didn't hesitate to rush to her aid, but she didn't expect Jugga to emerge from the dust and grab her by the face.
"Got you!"
He smashed Diane into the ground three times before tossing her aside.
"Ahhh!"
Diane gasped and vomiting blood. She had sustained too many injuries and broken bones to continue the fight.
"I thought fighting a Dragonaire would be fun, but this is boring," Jugga muttered as he walked toward the fallen Diane.
Diane knew she couldn't just give up. Despite the agony, she forced herself to stand.
"Let’s just end your suffering, little dragon," Jugga said arrogantly.
But as he walked, a magic circle glowed beneath him, and thick pillars of ice erupted. "Ice trap!"
Eula, though battered and blinded in one eye, had forced herself up to cast the spell one last time. She knew the cold wouldn't hurt him, but she had to hold him.
"Do you think this can stop me?" Jugga scoffed.
Ignoring her own injuries, Eula channeled everything she had left. "Frozen tower!"
A massive magic circle glowed, and a beautiful tower of ice lifted Jugga fifty meters into the sky. After that Eula ran to Diane and climbed onto her back. "Lady Eula, this is our chance! We have to attack while he's high in the air. We must keep him away from the town."
Eula hugged Diane tightly from behind, ready to gamble her life to defeat him.
"I understand. I’m pouring all my remaining energy into this. Hold on tight and prepare yourself!" Diane said.
Diane unleashed a powerful aura, the ground beneath her cracking under the pressure as she leaped toward the sky.
"Blazing Dragon Strike!"
She ignited, transforming into a fire dragon, and collided with Juggernaut. The flames scorched the sky as they rocketed upward, reaching a height of ten thousand meters at the speed of a jet fighter.
"What are you planning to do?" Jugga demanded.
Eula closed her eyes, gathering every ounce of her remaining power. "Let's end this."
Far from the city buildings, she finally had the opening to cast a Level 5 ice spell. A massive magic circle manifested in the sky as Eula leaped off Diane’s back.
"Get away from him, Lady Diane!" she shouted as she plummeted back toward the earth.
Before the fire dragon form dissolved, Diane punched Jugga one last time to distance herself. "Dragon blow!"
Eula’s magic circle expanded, manifesting a colossal arrow fifty meters in length.
"Frozen Heart Arrow!" she screamed.
The giant arrow pierced the sky, streaking toward Jugga with impossible speed.
"You can't defeat me with that worthless trash!" Jugga roared. He tried to punch the arrow, but as soon as he touched it, the ice encased him, dragging him higher. No matter how much he fought, the spell continued to bind him.
"You can't! You won't defeat the one and only Juggernaut!" he shrieked as he was carried into the upper atmosphere.
The giant arrow shot past the clouds and into the void of space.
"I did it..." Eula whispered, a smile on her face. Her eyes fluttered shut, and she lost consciousness while falling through the air.
"Lady Eula!" Diane cried out. Weak and broken, she forced herself to fly, catching Eula in her arms.
Diane’s strength was spent; her wings were mangled from her injuries. "I have nothing left..." she whispered. "I can't even move my wings... I can't stop our fall."
As they plummeted toward the ground at 150 km/h, a strange, viscous red liquid caught them, bringing them to a sudden halt in mid-air.
Diane stared in shock. "This smell... it's blood."
She looked out over the Dark City and saw countless orb-like objects floating above it. "What are these things?"
From the top of the palace, she spotted a figure enveloped in dark energy. She gasped in recognition. "Wait, Lady Vanilla?"
Diane realized that the red liquid that had saved them was a manifestation of Vanilla’s power—the same Vanilla who now stood watching from above the palace.
