Chapter 140 The Archangel Micheal
Chapter 140 The Archangel Micheal
Since my attacks were proving ineffective, I utilized Creation Magic to forge a skill capable of countering his rapid assaults.
The Dark Lord system’s holographic interface flickered into existence. I immediately tapped into Creation Magic to manifest a relic. Knowing that the Heaven Sword could shatter any magic spell, I decided that a physical weapon would be the most effective choice.
A magic circle materialized overhead, summoning a massive tower covered in ancient symbols. Its purpose was simple yet devastating: it could manipulate gravity within a radius of nearly ten hectares.
"What is this?"
Lance nearly collapsed, forced to his knees by the crushing weight of the gravity field—a force that felt as if an additional three hundred kilograms had been suddenly thrust upon his body.
I knew this would hinder his movements, and since the tower was positioned far from him, his sword couldn’t reach it.
"How are you capable of such things?" he muttered, struggling to stand.
A glimmer of hope returned. While Lance was incapacitated, I could launch an offensive without fear of him parrying.
Magic circles erupted across the sky, raining down fireballs.
" Blazing Fireballs!"
Blazing boulders, each three meters in diameter, plummeted toward his location. Lance knew he had to either evade them or counter them head-on.
"Do you honestly think you can defeat me just because I can't move?"
He mocked my tactical thinking, demonstrating that even while pinned, he remained free to wield the Heaven Sword. "As long as I can swing this blade, it doesn't matter if I'm rooted to the spot."
He unleashed a massive surge of energy, raising his sword high. With a single swing, a blinding wave of light surged forth.
"Divine Judgment!"
The overwhelming brilliance emanating from the blade vaporized the fireballs and shattered my magic circles in the sky.
"Impossible."
I stood paralyzed in disbelief. My fireballs had turned to ash, and he had effortlessly demolished the magic I had constructed. I realized then that merely restricting his movement wasn't enough; as long as I failed to land a decisive blow, I couldn't win.
"The Heaven Sword was granted by the Heavens to eradicate evil," Lance declared. "You have no choice but to accept your fate."
He raised his sword again, and I realized his next target was my tower. "He's going to destroy it."
I knew that if he escaped the gravity well, my chances of victory would vanish. I didn't hesitate to cast Level 5 Fire Magic. As I chanted, a massive black magic circle, nearly ten meters wide, appeared in the sky. Dark energy pulsed, thick with a terrifying presence, as a burning meteorite began to emerge, hurtling toward the earth.
"Meteorite!"
Lance’s eyes widened in shock to see me successfully cast high-tier magic. "How are you capable of casting high-tier fire magic?"
His sword glowed once more as he prepared to strike down my attack.
"It matters not! The Heavens are on my side in this battle. DIVINE JUDGMENT!!"
Once again, he unleashed a devastating strike. The blinding energy from his blade slammed into the massive meteorite.
BOOM!
The thirty-meter burning rock shattered, its fragments scattering in every direction. Because we were relatively close to the town walls, some of the debris struck the fortifications.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. If he could treat a meteorite like nothing, his power far exceeded a Level 5 high-tier spell.
Popo immediately warned me against wasting more Dark Lord points. "It’s not wise to squander your points, Daniel. Weak attacks won't work anymore. You need something more powerful."
"Something more powerful?"
I checked my remaining points: only 200,000 left. If this battle dragged on, I would run out, and I would lose everything.
I watched Lance, still shrouded in an immense aura. He showed no signs of fatigue, even after such a long fight. I realized he was finally tapping into the true potential of the Heaven Sword.
"He’s too strong. Popo, do you think I can still win?"
"Truthfully, there is one way," Popo replied, "but it is incredibly dangerous. If you fail this one chance, you will surely lose—and it will be the end for you and your empire."
"Really? You have a way?"
"I hesitated to suggest it," Popo asked, "but are you ready to risk everything?"
While we spoke, Lance raised his hand again, and another massive magic circle manifested above us.
"I don't know what to make of you, but the reports we received about you seem to have been wrong."
He noted that the reports claimed I possessed massive dark energy, a hundredfold greater than normal. They labeled me a dark magic user, yet here I was, wielding multiple elements.
He called it an anomaly—a danger to the world that had to be extinguished. He acknowledged my ability, and precisely because of that, he would no longer hold back.
"I will show you the power of the Heavens. The ultimate weapon of the Knight of the Cross."
The sky was swallowed by light as a magic circle, spanning over a hundred hectares, appeared within the clouds.
"What is that?"
It was so massive it could be seen from every corner of the Dark City and the palace, plunging everyone into terror. I felt something unnatural taking hold, and a cold dread told me this might be our end.
"Witness the executioner sent by the Heavens: Archangel Michael!" Lance shouted.
A colossal gateway tore open in the sky—a rift between dimensions—from which a gargantuan entity began to descend.
It was a warrior angel with white wings, encased in a golden aura. Its presence was so heavy it made my knees buckle. It stood nearly a hundred meters tall, clad in pristine white armor.
"What is that thing?" I stood frozen.
"Daniel, that is a Level 7 Light Magic spell. Similar to your water spirit. Use 'Appraisal' to see its capabilities."
I followed Popo's command. As the stats appeared, I nearly collapsed. Every stat was at 100,000—ten times my own. My anxiety spiked as I read its special skills.
"Impossible. Divine Punishment? Total Annihilation?"
With a single wave of the angel’s sword, a shockwave tore through the air, obliterating my tower and everything in the surrounding area. I was thrown back by the gale and forced to activate a magic barrier just to survive the impact.
"Too strong. This is no longer a game."
"If he unleashes Divine Punishment, he will erase everything," I whispered.
Lance floated beside the giant angel, his voice booming. "The end of you and your empire is at hand. There is nothing you can do to stop the judgment of the Heavens."
The archangel channeled immense energy, raising its blade. The golden light shimmering on its edge carried a terrifying, oppressive weight. I knew he didn't intend to just kill me; he intended to wipe out the palace and the Dark City along with me.
I couldn't believe it had come to this. I had to find a way to stop this attack, or I was finished. I refused to let my journey in this world end here. I had to save the citizens of the Dark City—the people who believed in me.
As I stared at the angel’s terrifying presence, memories flooded my mind: moments with Lea and my consorts; the image of my people enjoying festivals in the palace; the smiles of children celebrating with their families.
"They are all counting on their Emperor," I said, my voice hardening. "Popo, I cannot fail them."
I looked down at the holographic display of the Dark Lord system.
"Popo. Let’s do it."
"Daniel, you only have 280,000 points left. You only get one chance. Are you sure?"
"I know," I said, my heart filled with newfound courage and determination. "And I cannot fail. Actually, scratch that—I will make sure I succeed."
