Chapter 134 The heaven sword

Chapter 134 The heaven sword

Due to the spell I cast, the meteor in the sky began to shrink bit by bit. This did not please the members of the Knights of the Cross, and they threatened me.

"I don't know where you get your power from, but you cannot stop what has already been ordained."

Lance drew a magnificent sword with a glowing blade. "Your life ends here, along with your kingdom," he declared boldly.

I knew he was going to attack, and I had to protect Lea no matter what. Before he could even initiate his strike, I preempted him by casting a magic spell.

"Mighty Force!"

My magic circle unleashed a powerful shockwave that sent the five of them flying away. Some were blasted outside the city walls. Even though I had pushed them away from the palace, I knew they wouldn't stop attacking so easily.

"We need to defeat them before they destroy the palace."

I looked at Elisa and Lea, asking if they were capable of fighting. I admitted to myself that my abilities were limited; I couldn't possibly fight all five members of the Knights of the Cross at once. "I need your help in this battle."

Suddenly, Lea tapped me on the back and told me not to worry about them because they possessed great power. "Have you forgotten? I hold the power and memories of the former Empress. People like them are nothing to me."

"Azula is used to warfare. To be honest, Didi, you’re the novice among the three of us. You should worry more about yourself," Elisa added.

I sighed, trying to make them understand that just because they had power, it didn't guarantee victory. "It’s normal for me to be afraid for your safety. I don't want you to be harmed, especially since you are so important to me."

"Please, be careful," I said earnestly. "I couldn't bear it if something bad happened to either of you."

Both of their cheeks flushed, and they smiled, teasing me. "My, my, so you do know how to flirt after all," Lea remarked.

"I’m sure you’re enjoying this because you look cool saying those lines. Don’t worry, that was very cool of you to say, Didi," Elisa joked.

I just smirked, feeling slightly frustrated that they weren't taking my warnings seriously. "Could you two please take me seriously?"

Lea suddenly approached me and held out her hand for a pinky promise. "You're not the only one who is scared; we are also nervous about what might happen. That’s why we need to promise each other that we will all survive this battle."

"Of course," I replied. "I will survive and win this fight." I smiled, happy to see Lea maintaining such a positive outlook despite the situation.

Suddenly, Elisa stepped forward and, without hesitation, wrapped me in a hug. "Don't worry, Didi. I will be safe."

Lea was surprised by Elisa’s actions and tried to pull us apart. "Wait! What are you doing? Stop that!"

"There is nothing wrong with what we are doing. It’s normal to worry about each other," Elisa countered.

Elisa looked at me and stated that if anything happened to Lea in the upcoming battle, she was prepared to step in as Empress.

"What? Replace me? You!!"

Lea was shocked and went to attack Elisa, but Elisa suddenly flew away. "Come on, we don't have time for this. Let's finish the fight so we can have a snack afterward!"

Her body was engulfed in black electricity as she soared away.

Lea was furious at Elisa’s actions and glared at me. "She is so annoying."

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked.

Lea was covered in dark energy as she flew off, calling back to me with a parting warning. "I’m not going to die in this battle, so you shouldn't either. Remember, we are going to be together for a lifetime." Her cheeks were flushed with shyness.

I was stunned by her words and admired her ability to drop such a smooth line. "Wow, she just beat me at my own game."

After Lea left, I stared to the west where I had seen Lance fall. As the leader of the Knights of the Cross, I knew he was the strongest of the five.

"He is the leader, so it is better if I defeat him first before the others."

Using flight magic, I flew toward him at high speed. As I flew, I could see the soldiers below still locked in battle. "I need to lure them away from the Dark City."

I used sound magic to address the soldiers throughout the city. "Brave warriors of the Dark Empire, I know you were shocked by the enemy's attack on our home."

"We are currently being attacked by the Irish Empire, but do not fear or worry, because I will not let them succeed."

I mentioned that the Empress and I were working to defeat the enemy leaders and urged the soldiers to remain calm and brave in defending the city.

"I need your help. We must unite to protect our empire, and I am counting on you to fight to the very end for the Dark Empire!" I shouted.

After issuing my orders, I flew directly to Lance's location to face him. A moment later, I found him in a rocky area outside the city. It was perfect—being outside the walls meant I didn't have to worry about collateral damage.

I intended to land on the ground, but before I could approach, I saw him wind up for an attack.

"Heaven Strike!"

He initiated a strike so fast that I couldn't even manage to block it. His sword pierced my chest, and I was sent flying until I hit a massive boulder.

"Aahhh!"

As his sword was still embedded in me, he immediately yanked it out and spun around, slashing at my neck to decapitate me. As my head fell toward the ground, it suddenly turned into sand and scattered.

"What?"

Moments later, a massive amount of sand erupted from my body and attacked Lance, forming giant spears. Lance had no trouble dodging; his movements were incredibly swift, as if he were merely the wind passing by.

"You are so fast."

My body began to reform from the pile of sand, and I surrounded myself with giant, sand-wrought hands. I had mimicked this technique from other sand magic users I had fought previously, and with the help of the Dark Lord System, I was able to acquire their skills. I had been impressed by their combat style and, having observed how effective it was, I now had an idea of how to use it.

Lance was surprised that I was using sand magic, especially since I was supposedly a dark magic user. "How are you able to control sand? Your ability to cast elements so far from your natural power is bizarre."

He released a surge of powerful energy, making his blade glow even brighter. "It doesn't matter how you're doing it; there is nothing the Heaven Sword cannot cut."

"Heaven Sword?"

I used an appraisal skill to check his abilities and saw that his strength was nearly double mine. I shook my head in frustration; there were so many beings in this world stronger than me, and that was not good.

"His power is nearly twice mine. Why can't I get the upper hand against my opponents?" I whispered to the wind.

I also noticed that his weapon was special—much like my Dark Lord Sword, it had the power to cut through anything. I immediately drew my own blade. "Did you think you were the only one with a special sword?" I boasted.

"If you think your pathetic sword can match my Heaven Sword, I challenge you to show me your strength using that blade," he said, winding up for another strike.

Without hesitation, he attacked, and I could barely track his movements.

"He's so fast."

"Heaven Slash!"

I managed to parry his first attack, but he spun around and slashed my arm. Even with my high body defense, he still managed to wound me.

I hadn't expected his speed or the power of his strikes. Because he was so fast, I was forced to use the sand to attack and push him back.

"Is that all you can do?" Lance boasted while dodging.

Because of his speed, my attacks seemed slow and weak, and I could do nothing to land a hit on him. I was irritated because no matter what I did, he avoided my sand attacks. He even managed to slice through two of my giant sand fists.

"My sand has no effect on him. It’s true that his sword can cut through everything, and I doubt my defense can withstand his attacks," I whispered.

I cast another magic circle, and a massive sand dragon emerged. "Sand Dragon!"

He just stood there, holding his sword, emitting an overwhelming aura.

"Supreme Heaven Slash!"

Before the sand dragon could even strike, he released a powerful attack that tore through it and stopped it in its tracks.

"Impossible. He just disregarded a Level 4 sand magic spell?"

I was shocked. He had sliced through a high-level sand magic spell that should only be countered by other Level 4 magics. His energy was overflowing as his blade continued to shine. His presence was unique and filled me with an unfamiliar sense of dread.

"His strength is no joke. I cannot afford to be careless in this fight."
