Chapter 133 The unexpected visitors

Chapter 133 The unexpected visitors

After delivering my speech to the citizens, we headed straight into the palace to welcome our guests.

I faced the kings of the various kingdoms, along with their consorts.

"Your Majesty, I must meet with the kings before we begin the performances," my minister requested.

"What? Why do I have to speak to them one by one? Can’t they just sit at one table and talk to me together?" I asked.

"Your Majesty... that is not something we can do..."

Before the minister could finish, I cut him off. "Fine, I understand. I’ll do it." I said, walking toward the kings.

Because of past conflicts, these kings still struggled to maintain good relations with one another. Even though their fighting had ceased, deep-seated resentment and anger remained between them.

I knew this wasn't a simple matter that could be resolved just by me asking them to make peace; thousands had died on all sides. They blamed the loss of their people on the other kings and leaders who were once their enemies. They were only here because I commanded it, and I had to respect their rights, given that they had agreed to end the war.

A few minutes passed as I spoke with the kings, formally responding to their requests and suggestions to maintain good relations with the Empire.

The guests then moved to the hall to watch the performances prepared by the palace performers. The guests enjoyed the show, and afterward, the food was served on a long table for everyone to share.

"It’s a relief that everything is going smoothly," I muttered with a sigh.

A few minutes later, people outside suddenly noticed the moon covering the sun.

"What’s happening?"

An eclipse was taking place in the town, sparking fear and confusion.

"Why is there an eclipse during the dry season?"

Everyone couldn't believe what they were seeing; the world seemed to stand still as they stared up at the sky.

"Your Majesty, an eclipse is happening outside."

I immediately went outside and observed the sky. I was surprised to see the moon covering the sun. I hadn't realized an eclipse could occur in this world. However, something felt wrong.

"Why does this eclipse seem strange, Didi?" Elisa asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't you notice? Parts of the sky aren't turning dark, and the eclipse is only lasting for a few seconds."

I was startled by what she said, because as far as I knew, an eclipse was brief and shouldn't stay centered like that.

"Wait, am I the only one seeing this? Why does the moon seem to be growing?" Lea said.

As we watched the eclipse, I saw it gradually increasing in size. "You’re right, that’s not normal."

Suddenly, Popo appeared by my side and shouted to warn me.

"Daniel, there are powerful presences scattered all around. Magic portals have opened in various parts of the palace!"

"Magic portals?"

In an instant, a massive magic circle enveloped the entire palace, and soldiers dressed in white began pouring out of the portals.

"What is happening? Who are you?"

I noticed my palace guards were slowly collapsing. Some kind of energy was surrounding their bodies. "What is happening to our soldiers?"

Even the guests and some officials didn't escape the spell and lost consciousness.

"Our soldiers are falling asleep, Your Majesty. I believe it is a type of sleeping magic spell."

I immediately ordered for the soldiers and civilians to be helped. I used flight magic to rise above and assess the situation. Chaos erupted at the palace gate when a giant wall suddenly blocked it, preventing many of my soldiers from entering.

"The palace is being attacked. But who is doing this?"

While in the air, four glowing crosses suddenly appeared around me, and I felt as if some spell was preventing me from moving.

"What is this? Why can’t I move?"

"Daniel, you are trapped in a sealing spell," Popo said.

I was shocked and couldn't believe it. A moment later, five people appeared before me.

"Good day, Emperor Dark One. We have finally met," one of them said.

These five men possessed an incredibly powerful aura. They were all dressed in white, with a cross symbol on their garments.

"And who might you be? Are you the ones behind the attack on the palace?" I asked.

"We are the 'Knight of the Cross' from the Empire of Heaven—the Irish Empire."

Popo immediately explained to me that the Irish Empire was a superpower from another continent, far away from this place. They owned countless kingdoms and nations elsewhere.

"What does the Irish Empire want with me? Why are you attacking us?" I demanded.

"I am Lance, the leader of the Knight of the Cross. I am destined to put an end to the evil known as the Dark Lord of this world."

"Put an end to me?" I asked.

"According to reports, the Dark Lord possesses immense dark energy that destroys the balance of all things. Using dark energy as a weapon is a great threat to the entire world," Lance added.

According to them, the Knight of the Cross was a group of warriors of light whose duty was to suppress evil and destroy any kind of threat.

"We are here to end your life, along with the empire you have created, to liberate the beings you are tormenting," their leader stated.

"You want to finish me off along with the entire palace? How bold and ambitious."

He pointed to the sky, indicating a meteorite falling from the heavens. He revealed that what was covering the sky was a giant rock capable of destroying the palace and the entire Dark City.

"Your end is set, along with your palace. This is heaven’s punishment for all your sins," he added.

"Punishment? Tch. Do you really think you can kill me just by trapping me in a sealing spell?"

"There is nothing you can do in your state. The spell we placed on you is trapping the dark energy inside your body. Even if you fight us, you cannot stop the meteorite from crashing into your palace," he said.

He also pointed out that their troops would soon begin attacking to kill my people remaining in the palace.

I bowed my head and laughed. "Hahaha, I don't know you, and I have no grievance against you, but it's clear you are trying to kill not just me, but the citizens under my rule," I said angrily.

I knew they felt confident because I could no longer draw energy from my body, and they thought I couldn't fight back. However, the Dark Lord System was something I alone could command, and it had its own energy, the origin of which even I didn't know.

I told them that this day was supposed to be a happy day for my people, and I wouldn't allow them to ruin it.

The Dark Lord System interface appeared beside me, displaying a box of spells.

"You will pay for this."

A massive magic circle appeared in the surroundings and began rising toward the sky. The enemies were shocked because they didn't expect me to be able to create a magic circle while my powers were sealed.

As the meteorite fell, the magic circle moved toward it.

"What are you planning? Do you think you can still do something? If you destroy the meteorite, the pieces will still fall to the ground."

I just smiled and told him that I had no intention of destroying the meteorite, because it wouldn't reach the ground.

"What? You must be out of your mind if you think you can stop your destined end."

"Sorry to ruin your 'heroic' scene, it would have been nice. Heroes purging evil... but I'm telling you, you've picked the wrong enemy."

Suddenly, a black lightning bolt struck one of his companions, sending him flying far away. That intense energy came from Elisa.

"Daniel, are you alright?"

Elisa and Lea flew toward me. "The guests have been evacuated to a safe place. Daniel, we need to move them away from the palace before we fight," Lea said.

"They seem strong. You two should handle the others. I will take on their leader," I said.

"Huh? But what about the meteorite? Can you really stop it?" Elisa asked.

I immediately told them not to worry because a Level 6 magic spell was enough to make it vanish.

The spell attached itself to the 50-meter-wide rock as it fell, and the stone began to be engulfed by the magic.

"The spell has been successfully cast on your precious meteorite," I said.

I pointed to the meteorite above, which was now slowly shrinking. As they looked up, I explained that the spell I used could shrink objects down to the size of a grain of sand—so I ensured the meteorite would fall to the ground as mere dust.

"Impossible! You are just a dark magic user; how do you have the ability to cast a spell like that?" Lance exclaimed.

"Huh? I am the strongest Dark Lord in the world and the sole emperor of the Dark Empire. I can make the impossible, possible," I boasted.

The holographic interface of the Dark Lord System appeared again and shattered the spell binding my body.

They were stunned into silence as I broke their sealing spell.

"Imposible."

"I assume you didn't come to my territory just to show off that rock you put in the sky, did you?"
