Chapter 20
Crystal POV
I drop Liam off at his apartment; seeing Liam helped me so much today after the shit show event last night. Liam is always the best person to talk to when I am upset. He always has the best advice. I could tell he was curious about my relationship with Jamie. I will say to him more in time. For now, there are some things I want to keep to myself.
I hope he comes Friday to the party. I want him there with me if we have a repeat of last night, and I want him to get to know Jamie. Jamie has assured me this event would be a much calmer environment.
I drive slowly back to the house. I turn the music up and let my hair blow in the wind. It feels wonderful driving with the sun beating down on my skin. I needed this today. Jamie was right; I cannot hide in the house. I look down to check my phone. Jamie kept his word and has not bothered me while I was Liam; He wanted me to enjoy my friend. He gave me free rein today to be alone and regroup my feelings for him and our relationship.
I pull into the driveway and notice a strange car in the drive. I pull the car into the garage and park it where it goes. I do not want to upset him by putting it in the wrong spot. I put the top up and grab my things. I get out of the car and place the key back on the hook in the garage. I walk across the lawn to the side door and go into the house. The house is extra quiet.
I go to Jamie’s office, but he is not in there. He must be upstairs. I go up to stairs, and I can hear him talking loudly. There is another voice, and it sounds like a woman. It sounds like that bitch, Helen. I go to his bedroom, and I open the door. Helen is in his bedroom, and they are in a heated discussion. I slam the door and leave the two of them. I feel so betrayed; why is that bitch in his bedroom? Why is she even here? I go to my room and lock the door. Not that it does any good; he has a key to my room.
I hear the two of them arguing as they go past my room. I try not to listen, but it is hard to ignore. The two of them go down the stairs, and I hear the front door open and slam. Jamie comes up the stairs in a huff. He knocks on my door. I sit on the bed and ignore him. I hear the key rattling in the door, and then he opens the door and comes into my room.
“I have a key; this little temper tantrum is completely unnecessary,” Jamie says to me.
I sit quietly as Jamie comes and kneels in front of me. He takes my hand and kisses the top of my hand.
“Please let me explain,” Jamie says.
“Sure, explain to me why the woman who attacked me last night was in your bedroom,” I say sarcastically.
“She came by to talk to me, and I was not in my office. I was upstairs getting dressed, and she barged into my bedroom. I was in the process of throwing her out when you walked into the room. Nothing happened between her and me, I promise you,” Jamie says.
“What were you two talking about?” I ask.
“We were talking about you and how I want her out of my life completely,” I say.
“She is still in your life; how?” I ask.
“We share some clients, but I am taking care of that, so there will be no reason for her to contact me,” Jamie says.
“I don’t want to see her again. Will she be at the party on Friday? If she is, I will not be there; she can be your damn date,” I say to him firmly.
“No, and she is not happy about it, but she is not invited to the dinner party Friday night. I told you I am trying to get her completely out of my life,” Jamie says.
I begin to cry. I do not know why, but I become upset. Jamie wipes my tears away with his hand and kisses my lips.
“I want so much more from you than I ever thought I did, Crystal. Please give me a chance to fix all of this,” Jamie says.
“Okay, but I cannot keep getting upset like this. I only want to be happy,” I say.
“I only want you to be happy too. I am sorry you had to walk in on that. I never want to hurt you, not ever,” Jamie says.
Jamie puts his arms lays his head in my lap. I take my hand and run my fingers through his hair. “I am scared,” I say to him.
Jamie looks up at me. “What are you so scared of, Crystal,” Jamie says.
“I am scared that I am falling in love with you. I don’t want to feel this way if you still love your ex-wife,” I say to him.
“I do not love her anymore. I did at one time, but not now. I care deeply for you,” Jamie says.
“Okay,” I say.
“Okay, I say I care deeply for you, and you say okay,” Jamie says with a smile.
“Stop, I am still mad,” I say.
“Why?” Jamie asks.
“I am mad because that bitch was in your bedroom,” I say.
“She was in our room. I want you to move your things into my bedroom. I do not want to ever sleep without you again,” Jamie says.
“What about my off days?” I ask.
“I think we need to renegotiate our daddy deal,” Jamie says.
“Oh, I see, you want to renegotiate?” I ask him.
“Yes, I want you to be mine always, no deal, nothing, just be together as I guess as a couple,” Jamie says.
