Xavier's POV

Walking down to the car, joined my hands with Irene's, it felt like we were meant to be together, I couldn't let her go for a moment, when we got to the car, I hesitate leaving hee hand, I quickly got to my senses and ushered her into the car, as every gentleman would do but she never appreciated my gestures, she never said the words "Thank you sir"

I was perplexed to some point, she was tensed, she had a lot going through her mind and I could feel it, I had to make her feel right and sane, before we arrived the venue.

"What's going on in your head? You look tensed, and at the same time happy, are you up to something?" I inquired just as I imagined it to be.

"I'm alright, there's nothing going up in my head" She responded, shifting her gaze to the window, wondering what she stand to gain watching cars move past her in speed.

"Double up your speed" I ordered, knowing fully well that I needed to be there a but early to know and be aware of any slight hiccups or fowl play.

"I'll show the world, my wife today which would make Supreme Alpha Conan have huge reasons to rethink on his decisions and lift the suspension he placed on me" I muttered to myself, as a beautiful smile crept my lips, knowing how it would feel to be free again, I know if this day is over my chances to the throne would be enormous, there'll be no one stopping me, Even Liam and his men wouldn't dare as much as get six feet close to me.

I hated that the drive was silent, Irene was unlike that, she loved inquiring about the places I was taking her to, but this was different. I knew she had something up her sleeves but I needed to find out, in order to have it tackled, ruining my day would be the worst crime anyone has committed before me and I wouldn't hesitate to break bones and tear flesh if I don't get what I want.

"Hey, I know you have your side plans for today, but let me warn you, don't you dare do anything that would slightly affect as much as a pin in my plans. I would have you tortured limb from limb, I'll gouge your eyes out and make you eat them. I'll make you do sick things that would make you call death but he wouldn't dare come an inch close to you. Get this into your thick skull"

"Well understood sir" She uttered, as she continued with her former activity; which is stare at the window.

We arrived as usual, all my men dressed in black , while I chose to wear green, because today was an auspicious day to me. The camera lights were too bright for Irene so I had my men cover us till we walked past them, wondering if they used iut pictures for other purposes aside put it on TV and news paper.

I sat close to Irene, the show had already started before we even arrived, I knew that I would be called to give my Little speech before everyone, which would be my greatest opportunity to know who's present in this building.

"Please put your hands together for Mr Xavier"

Standing on the podium, I could see Supreme Alpha Conan, a few of my friends and the rest of the people which I cared less about, i didn't prepare to have a long speech so I spoke as my heart could carry me.

"This is going to be the best company in the world, the world would reckon on it's presence, we would continue celebrating contracts and expansion of this great company. In this light I would like to say a big thank you to my dear wife, her words of advice went a long way in doing what I did. She's the mastermind. I can't thank her much, we got married but yet people don't see as us as couples, well I would like to announce to the single ladies that I'm married, married to this beautiful lady sitting right over there... Thank you and have a lovely evening" I darted off to my seat, knowing this was the only chance I have to leave this place.

"Where are we going?" Irene uttered as she refused to stand up.

"I've made my presence known to the world, which entails that all my enemies would be arriving here in no time to kill me or even both of us. I suggest we leave"

"Well you can go, I'm not leaving not without a fight" Her words startled me, I knew that if a fight broke out definitely I would join the fight but listening to these words fall off Irene's mouth gave me reason to worry.

Is she ready to fight? Does she know how to hold a gun,. Does she even know what she's saying?. These questions and many more ran through my mind as I leaned back in my chair with a deep exhale.

"I can't believe a Lord like you would be scared of your peers, I know you can take them down, all if them so why backing down from a fight you know ways how to win? " Irene uttered downing her cup of wine at once.

"Your safety matters to me, without you by my side, there's no throne and to me it's jeopardy. So I'll have to protect you, protecting you is securing my throne" I conceded to her words, her words had an adverse effect on me, it made me feel less inferior, it dawned on me with a superiority complex.

"We need to go at least out of here?"I said trying to mind link Damien.

"What's your status?"

"Liam and his associates just walked into the building" Damien uttered ina low voice.

" I thought you said you were sure about them not coming to this function" I exclaimed.

"I was sure but it seems someone's poking their nose about it" I knew that I was the one poking everyone about it, I just appeared on TV, I guess the whole world must have seen me now.

"I'm getting tired and bored, can we now leave? " Irene stuttered.

"Have your seat" I tried the mind link again.

"I need you to find an escape route out this building right now, I've got a tingly feeling Liam would try to exert his revenge, speaking of the devil" Liam sprayed bullets all over the air, I wondered how they passed the security holding guns in their hands.

I noticed Damien's voice, hew as standing behind a curtain.

Irene had passed out, I quickly raised her on my shoulders and walked away

"Get that weak infuriated bitch for me" Liam ordered.

We had already left before his men sprawled out with guns in their hands causing terror and fear in the lives of people.

We got back to the hotel, I guess that wine was tok strong for Irene which made her pass out. I slowly placed her on the bed, I couldn't leave her in this condition, the more I tried the more I got closer to her, it felt like there's a deep existing connection between us.

I sat close to her, running my hands through her beautiful hair, I sat waiting for her to open up her eyes.

After an hour or more, her eyelids opened,

"Where- where am I?"

"You're safe and sound, you had too much to drink, hence it affected your state of being" I said in a low tone.

"Is the meeting over?" she asked holding her head up high, she must have been intoxicated by the wine she drank.

"Liam and his men stopped the meeting abruptly, trying to attack me yet again" I sighed knowing how it feels for two dogs fighting over a bone that would be of benefit only to one of them.

"Did they hurt you? " Irene quickly raised her lower back, leaning on the wooden head of the bed.

Sometimes I get mesmerized staring into Irene's eyes, it makes me weak and i hate being weak.

"Now that you're feeling good. I'll take my leave, got many issues to handle"

"Be careful, and tread with caution"

"Stop acting like my mother" I shrugged turning the door knob and walked out of her room.

"Why must you tell me everything through this medium?" I asked Damien accepting his mind link call.

"Supreme Alpha Conan, is on his way back home, when are we going back home? It's quite odd in Scotland" Damien uttered.

"You're right, we'll leave tomorrow" I affirmed my words, tired of staying in someone's territory.

"Ok fine" Damien always knew what next to do, one of the reasons I chose him as my Beta and also my life assistant. No one can replace Damien in my life.

I walked into my room, staring at a girl naked on my bed .
