Chapter 58 The Kiss That Melted His Anger

Chapter 58 The Kiss That Melted His Anger
After school, Liora walked toward the waiting car with her bag hanging loosely from one shoulder and the moment she spotted Dominic sitting inside, her tired expression immediately brightened.

She hadn't expected to see him because Dominic usually, remained at home for his rehabilitation sessions, and Liora had grown accustomed to looking forward to seeing him again after school even if they were married, there was still something comforting about finding him waiting for her.

She quickly opened the car door and climbed inside. “Why aren't you doing your rehabilitation at home, dear?” she asked, looking at him with mild surprise.

Dominic raised an eyebrow. “Why?”

His tone was casual, but there was a subtle sharpness hidden beneath it. “Were you hoping I wouldn't come?”

Liora's eyes widened. “Never!”

She answered so quickly that Dominic almost smiled the truth was, Liora always looked forward to seeing him after school and no matter how exhausting her classes were the moment she saw Dominic, something inside her seemed to relax.

She didn't understand when that feeling had started but she knew that she liked having him around.

Dominic studied her as she was smiling so innocently, as if she had nothing to hide but the photograph Mr. Lawrence had shown him earlier suddenly flashed through his mind.

The memory irritated him more than he wanted to admit and his eyes darkened slightly, without saying anything, Dominic reached for her hand and intertwined their fingers, his grip was firm and Liora looked down at their joined hands before glancing at him.

There was something strange about the way he was holding her, but she couldn't quite figure out what it meant.

The thought of another man getting too close to his wife was something Dominic found almost impossible to accept and like a beast protecting its territory, Dominic instinctively disliked anyone who dared to encroach on what he considered his.

Dominic eyes settled on Liora's face..“Did anything unusual happen at school today?”

Liora's heart skipped slightly because she hadn't expected the question. She thought about the events of the day for a moment before shaking her head. “No, nothing unusual.”

She looked at him curiously. “What about you? Did your rehabilitation tire you out?”

“Not at all.”

Dominic answered without hesitation, it had only been a few hours of exercise. There was hardly any reason for him to feel exhausted.

Besides, physical fatigue wasn't what had been weighing on him, it was the image of Liora standing beside another man.

Liora was still young and far too trusting, if he wasn't careful, someone might eventually take advantage of her kindness and pull her away from him.

Then he asked, “Are you sure there isn't anything you want to tell me, Liora?”

His voice sounded calm and Liora hesitated, only then did she remember what Ning Mufan had told her earlier.

Dominic's family had apparently cut off his financial support, she hadn't known about it before today and she couldn't help feeling guilty.

After all, Dominic had gotten into conflict with his family because of her. If she hadn't gotten herself into trouble, perhaps he wouldn't have fallen out with his father.

Liora lowered her eyes. “I'm sorry, dear.”

Dominic's heart sank, his fingers tightened around hers. Why was she apologizing?

His mind immediately went in the wrong direction was this because of Ning Mufan? Was she feeling guilty about what had happened between them?

His expression gradually became colder. “For what?”

Liora flinched slightly, she wasn't frightened of him, but his sudden change in tone caught her off guard and from the driver's seat, Mr. Lawrence immediately sensed the change in atmosphere but his hands remained firmly on the steering wheel.

The young master was angry again and judging by the silence that followed, it wasn't going to pass quickly.

Dominic stared at Liora then, after a moment his voice softened. “Silly girl.”

Liora looked at him in confusion. “I don't need your money, I have my own.”

She blinked. “But we're married.”

“There is no reason for you to feel ashamed about accepting my help. What's mine is yours.”

For a few seconds, Dominic simply stared at her then the storm cloud hanging over his face gradually disappeared.

He had misunderstood her, it wasn't Ning Mufan but the money.

He almost wanted to laugh and it was a little frustrating that she could be so generous when it came to his expenses, yet so restrained when it came to everything else.

“I don't want your money.”

Liora looked confused.m“Then what do you want?”

Dominic's gaze settled on her lips..“I want your kisses.”

“What?”

Liora stared at him, one moment they had been talking about his medical expenses and the next, he was asking for kisses.

Dominic's lips curved slightly. “Didn't you just say what's yours is mine?”

He deliberately avoided returning to the subject of money and Liora's cheeks warmed.

She suddenly realized what he was doing but before Dominic could continue teasing her, she leaned toward him and pressed a quick kiss against his lips.

For second, Dominic was stunned because ge clearly hadn't expected her to act first.

From the driver's seat, Mr. Lawrence quietly observed the change through the rearview mirror and he couldn't help thinking about how remarkable the young mistress's effect on Dominic was.

One moment, the young master had looked as though he could freeze the entire car with his temper but the next, one simple kiss from Liora had completely transformed him.

Mr. Lawrence silently shook his head. One day, this girl was going to drive her husband completely over the edge.

Meanwhile, Liora looked at Dominic with genuine curiosity, his mood had changed so quickly that she couldn't understand it.

All that from a kiss?

She couldn't help feeling amused not that she was complaining.

“I'll keep my money, then,” she said softly. “But I'll still take care of you.”

Dominic nodded without hesitation. “Yes, you must do that.”

Liora smiled faintly but then she was still thinking about what Ning Mufan had told her.

If Dominic's family had truly cut off their financial support, then they needed to be careful.

They couldn't continue spending carelessly when they could no longer rely on anyone else.

“We should be more careful with our spending from now on,” she said. “If we're going to depend on ourselves, we have to be prudent.”

Dominic listened quietly then he nodded along with her. “Alright.”

He didn't argue or tell her that money was the least of their problems.

After all, if worrying about their finances made Liora feel that she was contributing to their marriage, he didn't have the heart to stop her.

Mr. Lawrence glanced at them again through the mirror and he frowned slightly. Wasn't the young master worried?

Or perhaps he simply wasn't worried about anything as long as Liora was beside him.

Watching the young mistress earnestly discuss saving money while Dominic obediently listened, Mr. Lawrence couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

If Liora asked this man for his entire life one day, he suspected the young master might hand it over without even thinking twice.
