Chapter 266
Chapter 266
When the two approached, Gaia asked, "Lila, Isadora, why are just you two here? Where's Arabella?"
Lila was about to speak when Isadora cut in, "She said sister-in-law is just a tool brother uses to appease Grandma. I didn't like hearing that, so I told her off. She probably doesn't have the nerve to come over now and went to find her parents."
Gaia immediately frowned, "What nonsense is that child talking!"
Alexander's face darkened considerably.
He looked at Lila and saw her lips pressed slightly, with some embarrassment in her eyes that she was deliberately trying to hide but couldn't completely conceal. A strange feeling arose in his heart.
She got bullied just after leaving his side for a bit?
Gaia reached out and pulled Lila to sit beside her. "Lila, don't overthink it. Arabella is close with that Celeste, so she might be a bit biased against you. Let's just ignore her."
Lila answered softly, "Grandma, I don't mind."
After saying that, she also smiled at the old lady.
Gaia felt sorry for her just watching.
After being told such hurtful things, how could anyone not care?
Gaia knew she said this to keep her from worrying, and felt somewhat guilty.
She held her hand, thought for a moment, and still spoke gently, "Lila, are you doing okay at Island Mansion? If you really don't want to continue living with Alex, Grandma agrees you can divorce now."
Lila looked at her in surprise, "Grandma, are you serious?"
Gaia nodded and said firmly, "Yes, you're a good girl, and deserve to be treasured by someone who can see your worth. Before, Grandma was too anxious and pushed you into hell."
"Who's hell?" Alexander's cold voice interrupted them.
Lila instinctively looked over at the sound. His face showed extreme displeasure, and his eyes were cold and dark.
She immediately looked away.
At this moment, Gaia snorted coldly, "Don't you know it yourself?"
Alexander's face looked terrible. He didn't respond to Gaia but looked at Lila instead, "Do you want a divorce?"
Of course Lila wanted a divorce.
But looking at his expression, she felt that if she dared say the word "yes," he would definitely kill her.
She didn't speak, but shook her head.
Alexander smiled with satisfaction, then looked at Gaia, "Grandma, I brought her here today to keep you company and chat, not to talk about divorce. Also, you forced me to get married, so does that mean divorce is also up to you? Do I look like someone who can be pushed around?"
Gaia snorted coldly and glared at him, "If you don't want a divorce, then treat our Lila better. Stop saying these things in front of me!"
Isadora also caught the meaning in her brother's words and chimed in at the right time, "Yeah, brother, treat sister-in-law better. I really like sister-in-law. You two must be happy together forever."
Alexander looked at her expressionlessly.
Seeing her smile at him with those heavily made-up dark eyes, he sneered inwardly.
Lila remained silent.
Arabella didn't come back for lunch.
Only Lila, Alexander, Isadora, and Gaia were at the table. The atmosphere was nice and harmonious.
After the meal, Lila chatted with Gaia for a while longer.
When Isadora helped Gaia upstairs for her afternoon nap, she and Alexander left.
As Lila was casually walking side by side with Alexander toward the door, Alexander suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Her first reaction was to look down at her grabbed wrist, then she looked up to meet his gaze, puzzled. "What's wrong?"
Alexander's eyes were complicated. His gaze fixed deeply on her as he spoke in a low voice, "Did Arabella bully you?"
