Chapter 270
Chapter 270
Alexander swallowed, his intense gaze fixed on her. "Lila, I haven't been picking on you lately, I haven't been bullying you, and I don't talk to you with that sarcastic tone anymore, right?"
"Right, why are you suddenly asking this?" she said, trying to push his hand away as she spoke.
Alexander's large hand remained firmly on her waist, his low, husky voice reaching her ears. "I've changed so much. Do you like me a little now?"
Lila's whole body stiffened.
What did he just say?
Like him a little?
Alexander couldn't wait and pressed her. "Do you?"
Lila snapped back. "You don't like me, so why should I like you?"
"I told you before, I'm interested in you now."
"But you also said the kind of woman you like isn’t someone like me."
Alexander raised an eyebrow, practically dying of frustration with this woman.
He lowered his voice. "Lila, you won't give me any credit at all, will you?"
"I do. You don't make me cook anymore."
"You don't like me?"
She pressed her lips together and answered half-heartedly. "It's okay, I guess. I don't dislike you."
Alexander let out a cold snort and declared confidently, "One day, I’ll make you say you like me with your own mouth."
Lila didn't respond.
Alexander was so confident.
Alexander watched her. She wasn't saying anything, but her eyes were darting around. He knew she was complaining about him in her head. He found it amusing and mischievously grabbed her chin, leaning down to kiss her.
Lila jumped, glancing at the busy servants nearby. Without thinking, she tried to push him away.
But Alexander only held her tighter.
Especially today, he kissed her carefully, gently, yet deeply.
Her heart felt like a feather was brushing against it, ticklish, trembling, and her face had long turned as red as a ripe apple.
When Alexander finally pulled away, his lips lingered by her ear, a soft laugh escaping with his breath. "Mrs. Sinclair, you get this scared just from a kiss. If we went to bed, wouldn't you end up crying?"
Lila's eyes went wide.
What kind of dirty talk was that?
She used all her strength to push him away. "You're the CEO of the Sinclair Group—can you please stop saying such filthy things? You have no shame, but I do!"
"If I don't say it, how else can I see Mrs. Sinclair blushing like this?"
"Then just don't look."
He immediately replied, "Can't do that. I love seeing you like this, inexperienced, shy, and moved."
Lila was so nervous she was almost stuttering. "Shut up!"
Alexander's eyes gleamed with amusement as he elegantly played with her hair. "Mrs. Sinclair, flirting is a man's privilege. If I don't say anything now, when it comes time to actually do it, you'll find it boring. After all, with your reserved personality, you probably wouldn't pin your man down either, would you?"
Lila felt like her mind was about to explode.
Who was her man?
They hadn't even done anything to make their marriage real yet.
Lila, embarrassed and annoyed, stared at him and changed the subject. "Are you leaving or not?"
After teasing her, Alexander was in a great mood, his lips curving slightly. "Of course we're leaving. Aren't we going to buy matching rings?"
Matching rings?
He actually remembered!
Lila pushed him away, opened the passenger door, and got in the car. Once the door separated them, she patted her face and silently repeated to herself: Calm down, Lila. You need to calm down.
After Alexander got in the car, he glanced at Lila from the corner of his eye. Seeing her face still flushed, he didn't tease her anymore.
Really interesting, such thin skin.
The car had only been driving for five minutes when Alexander's phone on the center console rang.
He glanced at Lila. "Answer it, put it on speaker."
"Okay." Lila picked up the phone. "It's Charlie calling."
Alexander acknowledged.
She swiped to answer and pressed the speaker button.
Charlie's voice came through quickly. "Mr. Sinclair, we found Miss Phillips's exact location in Verenthia. I—"
Alexander suddenly slammed on the brakes, snatched the phone from Lila's hand, and turned off the speaker.
