Chapter 260

Chapter 260

Lila’s gaze toward Alexander grew colder, tinged with confusion.
She claimed she didn’t mind—shouldn’t he be pleased?
Why did he look even worse than before?

Lila couldn't figure out what Alexander was thinking, so she spoke up on her own initiative, "Boss, do you have anything else to ask me? If not, I'm going to the break room. It's getting late, you should get to work."

Alexander snapped back, his voice icy, "Whether I work or not, do I need you to remind me?"

She froze instantly.

Who pissed him off this morning?

"Mind your own business!" Alexander threw out this warning and resolutely turned around, walking toward his desk.

Lila looked confused.

Had she said something to upset him?
After Arabella left the top floor of the Sinclair Group, her expression turned cold.

Her mom said the Sinclair Group would belong to her uncle's family in the future and had nothing to do with them.

Because she didn't have a biological brother, she could only watch as the huge fortune her grandfather left behind fell into her cousin's hands.

But they couldn't just give up like this—they had to fight for it.

So today, she was sent to find out about her cousin and his wife's relationship, to see if she could drive a wedge between them and distract him. That way, he might make mistakes in major decisions at the Sinclair Group, which would make Grandma scold him and think he was unreliable.

The more unreliable he seemed, the better the chance their family had of getting a piece of the Sinclair Group.

But today she didn't seem to find out much. The brief interaction wasn't enough for her to clearly judge her cousin and his wife's relationship.

Still, with Celeste as a ticking time bomb, there was no need to worry that her cousin would never make a mistake.

At the very least, he'd have to get divorced sooner or later. When the Sinclair Group became unstable, he'd be the one responsible. The shareholders would definitely pressure him, and he wouldn't be able to keep his composure!

Plus, she was holding onto a big secret.

Grandma and her cousin’s words about having his wife bear a child for Celeste’s return—that was the real trump card. One day, she would play this card at the most necessary and appropriate moment!

The next day was the weekend.

After Lila and Alexander had breakfast at home, they set off together for the Sinclair Family Manor.

In the yard, she asked him, “Honey, should I drive to the Sinclair Family Manor?”
Alexander didn't answer directly but asked back, "Do you want to drive?"

Lila shook her head, "Of course I'd rather ride. After all, driving requires concentration."

"Okay, I'll make you happy."

"Thank you, honey."

With a smile, she turned to get into the passenger seat, but just as she pulled open the door, her arm was grabbed.

Lila turned back, "What's wrong?"

The moment she turned around, there was some confusion in her eyes. When she asked "what's wrong," she looked so innocent that Alexander stared at her, mesmerized, and even forgot to speak.

It wasn't until Lila called out to him, "Honey?"

Only then did Alexander snap back to reality and said in a low voice, "You haven't given me my morning kiss yet."

The confusion in Lila's eyes gradually faded, replaced by helplessness.

Would he ever forget about this, even for a day?

But looking at Alexander's serious expression and expectant eyes, she suddenly thought he looked like a puppy asking its owner for kisses.

Thinking this, Lila immediately laughed out loud.

Alexander frowned, "What are you laughing at?"

She instantly came back to her senses and shook her head, "Nothing."

After saying this, Lila cleared her throat lightly, stood on her tiptoes, and planted a quick peck on his left cheek, "Is that good enough?"

Alexander raised his lips in satisfaction and reminded her, "There's still the right cheek."

Lila leaned in to kiss his right cheek.

But Alexander suddenly grabbed the back of her head and kissed her lips hard.
