Chapter 49 Fun

Chapter 49 Fun

Zara’s POV:

Why was he drowning his sorrows in alcohol? Had he fought with Giselle?

“Lucas? What do you need? It's late, and you haven't slept,” I told him, concerned.

He stared at me intently before speaking in a serious tone. Though he wasn't stuttering, his words came slowly.

“You know, it's all your fault,” he said, pointing his finger at me.

I wasn't sure if he was angry or something else. What had I done this time? I should stay quiet and go to sleep! But guilt started creeping in; maybe I was the one at fault. After all, I had been the cause of so many issues between us.

“What are you talking about? You're clearly drunk, Lucas. You better go back to Giselle or to your room and get some sleep.”

I was about to close the door but then he grabbed my hand and went inside without my permission!

“What do you think you are doing right now?” I shouted.

He didn’t respond. Instead, he just held my face…before his mouth lowered to capture mine. It was just brief, yet it felt electrifying.

“You're crossing the line, Lucas!”

Regardless of his issues, his actions were disrespectful. He didn’t have the right to kiss me just because he was drunk!

I refused to be disrespected like this!

But then, he cupped my face again, and lowered his head…as if he was going to kiss me again! I should have pushed him away before it’s too late, but then an illegal thought appeared inside my head.

Our divorce was almost finalized, and he proposed to Giselle again, so maybe, I should just enjoy this one last time with him.

So, without hesitation, I no longer played hard to get and welcomed his kiss. I first sucked his lower lip, but he didn't back down and also sucked my lips.

Just from the kiss, I was already overwhelmed with desire, so I lowered one of my hands and explored his muscular chest, then down to his stomach, until I reached the part of his body that was burning with heat.

Lucas tensed as I touched him there. However, he didn't leave my lips. He continued to assault me with his tongue until he got tired, and then he moved to my neck. He slightly nibbled on my neck, as if trying to find where he could pierce it.

His mouth gradually went down to my chest, and I moaned when I felt him gently bite my breast. What he did was slightly painful, and I knew he left a mark.

“Lucas…” I called his name when he covered one of my breasts.

I shivered, and that was the last thing I remembered before he laid me down on the bed.

Despite my sleep deprivation and pounding headache, I woke up early. I decided not to go to work and would inform Mariz later. I couldn't function with this throbbing sensation in my head.

I forced myself to sit up, pressing my fingers against my temples as if I could physically push the memory out of my head.

It didn’t work.

His touch still lingered like heat under my skin. The way he kissed me. The way I responded. God… it was humiliating how easily I gave in.

One moment of weakness, and I was back to being that same woman who would take whatever scraps of affection he offered.

I let out a shaky breath.

“Get it together, Zara,” I muttered to myself.

This wasn’t love. It never was. Not for him.

Slowly, I swung my legs off the bed and stood up. My body felt heavy, my head still throbbing, but I forced myself to move. I couldn’t stay here, drowning in thoughts that would only pull me back to him.

I walked toward the mirror and froze.

There it was.

A faint mark on my collarbone.

My fingers hovered over it, brushing lightly against the skin. Last night wasn’t just a mistake. It was a reminder. A reminder that no matter how much I tried to move forward, Lucas still had this dangerous hold on me.

And I hated it.

Taking a deep breath, I walked toward the bathroom for a quick shower. Afterward, I prepared breakfast, and packed a bento box for Ken’s lunch.

I was busy in the kitchen when Lucas and Ken came together. He immediately lifted Ken to his chair.

“Good morning, Mom!” Ken greeted me.

“Good morning, baby,” I said, pouring a glass of fresh milk for him.

Occasionally, I would glance at Lucas but I just acted as if everything was fine between us. I even offered him a cup of coffee to help with his hangover.

“Thanks,” he said after.

“Dad, are you okay? You still look tired,” my son asked his father while we sat down to eat.

“I had a bit too much to drink last night, kiddo. I'm sorry I couldn't make it home. I'll make it up to you, alright?” Lucas assured our son.

My son smiled warmly. “It's okay, Dad. There's no problem,” he replied, displaying a maturity beyond his years.

“I'll drop you off at school, son. I'll drive you. So finish up your breakfast,” Lucas said.

“Really? Thanks, Dad! Besides, last night was fine. Uncle Nick was here, and I had fun with me!”
