Chapter 124 Planning Olivia’s Wedding

Chapter 124 Planning Olivia’s Wedding
Fiona’s POV

I had to ditch working on my laptop to be here in the living room with the rest.

Alfred and Olivia called earlier to say they wanted to see me for something. I didn’t expect them to talk about their wedding. They want me to plan it, and I’m actually very excited to do that.

Alexa tailed along to add "magical touches"—in her words. Of course, the conversation isn’t going smoothly. They all have different ideas for everything.

“Purple and gold theme,” Alexa argues. “You know that you know nothing about colors.”

“Trust me, white and red is fine,” Olivia insists. It’s obvious that none of them want to back down, and we haven’t even moved forward from the color theme.

“That’s a Valentine’s Day color, dummy. Purple and gold screams royalty. Don’t you want to be a princess on your big day?” Alexa probes, taking a sip from her coffee.

“Doesn’t change the fact that people use it for weddings, too. And red is my favorite color.”

“No way I’m watching my best friend have a boring wedding. We can make the color theme four; it doesn’t have to be two.” My eyes keep darting between them.

“That would be too chaotic. Four colors!” Olivia exclaims, turning to Alfred to help out. I’m glad it’s not me who's being drawn into this.

“Four is a lot. Maybe three. What do you say, Fiona?” I spoke too early. “You are an expert in this.”

“Two to three is fine.”

“Red, purple, and gold. Since you love red so much,” Alexa states, shooting them a threatening gaze.

“How would that even turn out?” Nick snickers, joining us in the living room. I’m glad he is here. I can’t be the only one suffering through this. “And why are you allowing a novice to make suggestions for you?”

“Are you calling me a novice, Nicholas fucking Duncan?”

“Stop shouting. My wife is pregnant,” Nick muses before adding, “And don’t curse; there’s a baby on the way. We don’t want that to be her first word.”

“And who told you babies speak when they are born? Fiona, it’s not too late to change your man.”

“Olivia,” Nick starts softly, ignoring his sister, “white and red is fine. It’s your wedding. If she doesn’t like it, then don’t invite her.”

Olivia bites back a laugh, and I’m guessing just like me, she saw the look on Alexa’s face.

“I’m an expert in this. Okay?”

“And who made you an expert? You keep saying that like you’ve ever planned a wedding,” Alexa bites out, and Nick looks at me immediately. I already know what he’s about to say, so I sit back.

“I interned at an event planning company for months; you didn’t. I have planned more weddings and events than the amount of time you have spoken to a man, Alexa,” Nick boasts, his eyes twinkling with a mix of excitement and pride. “I even helped in planning your product launch. So, when I call myself an expert, you have no choice but to believe that.”

“I’m surprised you learned something. Last I checked, you interned there to get close to your boss,” she mocks, a smile plastering her face.

“Oh. And see how far we’ve come now,” he shoots back.

“We won’t move forward from here with all this back and forth,” Alfred states.

“In conclusion, we are going with white and red?” I ask to be sure. When they nod, I scribble it on my notepad. Alexa is still scowling, like her favorite candy just got snatched away.

“So, have you thought of a location? A hall?” Nick asks, and I jab him in his ribs.

“Why are you taking my job?” I whisper, glaring at him.

“I’m trying to help out. You shouldn’t be stressing yourself,” he winks.

“When you both are done being lovers, let us know,” Alexa hisses, and I laugh.

Damn. I’ve been laughing a lot lately.

“Maybe a hall or something,” Olivia says, and Alexa glares at her.

“See. You aren’t even sure,” she points out.

“Let’s make this easier. What type of wedding do you want?” This should have been the first question, but my head was jumbled when we started.

“We talked about this in the reunion. What type of wedding, Alf?”

“Come on. It’s your big day; I’ll support whatever choice you make,” Alfred dismisses.

“Actually, it’s both of you,” Nick comments, scrolling through his phone.

After some minutes, Olivia finally says, “A beach wedding.”

“That’s too cheap. I can help you book one of our resorts. You’ll love it,” Alexa suggests.

“She wants a beach wedding, not you. It’s her wedding, for crying out loud.”

“I’m not talking to you. Shouldn’t you be at work or something?”

“Nope,” he shoots her a wink. “I’ll be heading to the airport to pick up my dearest mother-in-law. Of course, you don’t know what that means; you can’t relate.”

“Then get going, already. You are not needed here,” Alexa seethes, her glare deepening.

“Same goes for you.”

I almost forgot that my mom was coming today along with my brother. She mentioned that a few days ago. I just can’t wait to see her.

“Olivia, I’d advise you to kick Alexa out of the best friend role. Just saying.” He stands, planting a quick kiss on my lips. “I better start going. Don’t want to keep them waiting.”

We could actually send a driver to pick them up, but Nick offered to do that himself.
