Chapter 117

Chapter 117

"You'll know when we get there." With just one sentence, Blake shut down all of Ophelia's questions.

She could only follow him in confusion to a clothing store.

There wasn't a single person inside, but the fact that it occupied such a large space in this prime location said a lot.

"Why are we suddenly here? I still have plenty of new clothes." Ophelia asked.

Blake put his arm around Ophelia as they walked into the store. "Whether you have clothes is your business, but giving you new clothes is mine."

A very fashionably dressed woman emerged from inside the store. Ophelia felt her face looked familiar, like she'd seen her somewhere before.

After thinking carefully, she realized that this woman's face was in a magazine her classmate had been reading recently.

She remembered it was a top international fashion magazine.

Anyone who appeared in it must be quite accomplished.

Immediately, Ophelia began to suspect Blake's true intentions.

"Today, she's all yours."

The woman looked Ophelia up and down, but it didn't make Ophelia uncomfortable.

Ophelia realized that rather than sizing her up, it was more like appreciation.

"Not bad. This miss's figure is just as good as the top models. You've really found me a beautiful woman ."

The woman suddenly moved closer to Ophelia with a very striking smile. "Ms. Hayes, hello. My name is Bronte Langley."

Ophelia quite liked the woman before her. She extended her hand. "Hello."

"Come with me. I've already prepared several outfits that would suit you perfectly. My taste has always been excellent."

Ophelia followed Bronte to the fitting room, while Blake sat on the sofa outside.

When Ophelia saw so many dresses, even though she'd seen plenty before, she couldn't help but gasp in amazement.

Bronte was quite proud. "Don't worry, we're going to try every single one here."

Ophelia was somewhat stunned. "All the clothes?"

"That's right." As Bronte spoke, she picked up a black short evening dress and held it up against Ophelia.

Seeming unsatisfied, she casually tossed it aside and continued looking for another one.

Ophelia picked up the garment and accidentally saw the price on the tag.

Her eyes widened, and she put the clothes back.

She instinctively followed Bronte to the pile of clothes inside.

"These clothes all seem quite expensive. How can you just throw them around?"

Hearing this, Bronte turned around with interest. "Throw them around? Shouldn't garbage be thrown away? Clothes that can't fulfill their purpose should be tossed aside. Even if they're not thrown away, keeping them in the closet just takes up space."

After hearing this speech, Ophelia didn't know what to say for a moment.

Just then, Bronte suddenly became very excited. "I found it!"

Ophelia's gaze was drawn to the white evening dress in Bronte's hands.

She'd worn quite a few formal dresses, but rarely had she seen one as beautiful as this.

"Quick, go try on this dress." Bronte thrust the dress into Ophelia's hands and went to prepare makeup.

"But, this..." Ophelia looked at the dress with a strange expression. She felt that this didn't look like an ordinary evening dress, but rather a wedding dress.

Bronte seemed completely oblivious to this.

Ophelia pressed her lips together, looked at the wedding-dress-like gown in her hands, and walked to the fitting room.

When she came out of the fitting room, Bronte, who had been waiting outside, widened her eyes.

A flash of amazement crossed her gaze.

"What's wrong? Does it not fit well?" Ophelia looked down at the dress she was wearing. Bronte quickly came over and took her hand. "No, quite the opposite. This dress is like it was custom-made for you."

Under Bronte's guidance, Ophelia slowly walked to the mirror.

Seeing herself in the mirror, Ophelia's breath caught.

She was truly beautiful.

In the mirror, it was as if a begonia flower had bloomed out of nowhere, radiating fragrance, noble and elegant.

While Ophelia was stunned, Bronte had already pulled back the dividing curtain.

Blake, sitting behind the curtain, happened to look up just as Ophelia slowly turned around.

The moment Blake saw her, the corners of his mouth curved slightly. He stood up and walked to Ophelia's side.

He lowered his voice and spoke near her ear. "You're beautiful."

Ophelia lowered her head slightly. Bronte walked over with a smile. "Mr. Weston, you really can't wait. I found such a perfect dress for Ms. Hayes—how are you going to thank me?"

Blake spoke directly. "The Schmidt family has a project coming up. I'll put you in charge of it."

When Bronte heard this, the smile on her lips suddenly faded, replaced by an air of determination. "Thank you. Well worth it."

Blake took Ophelia's hand and slowly walked to sit on the sofa. "Do you like it?"

Ophelia felt somewhat uneasy. She had the feeling that Blake was hiding something from her.

"Why so suddenly..."

"Quiet."

"Change out of the dress. Let's go."

Now Ophelia was completely confused. What exactly was Blake up to?

Though she didn't understand, she still went to change and left Bronte's clothing store with Blake.

However, not long after they left, Ophelia noticed a problem.

She suddenly stopped and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Something of mine is missing." Ophelia's face went pale. She searched all over herself but still couldn't find the necklace she'd always worn.

"What is it?" Blake asked.

"A jade pendant."

"Jade pendant?"

"Ever since I can remember, I've always worn that jade pendant. But now it's gone. It was still there when we were at Bronte's store." Ophelia's anxiety infected Blake. His brow furrowed slightly.

"It's okay. I'll have someone help you look for it."

"No, I need to go look for it myself right now."

Blake looked at his hand being shaken off and cursed under his breath, then turned to follow Ophelia.

The two returned to the clothing store, only to see the door open with no one inside.

"Something seems off." Ophelia frowned. As the two walked further in, they saw someone lying on the ground.

The fitting room curtain covered half the body. Ophelia was about to step forward when Blake pulled her back.

Blake went over himself and pulled back the curtain. Bronte appeared before them.

Her face was pale, her brow slightly furrowed.

"Bronte, what happened to you?"

After Ophelia called out a few times, Bronte slowly came to.

She got up and saw that her clothing store had been trashed beyond recognition. Her face darkened as she punched the ground. "Damn it! If I find out who knocked me out just now, I'll make sure they regret it!"

"What exactly happened?" Ophelia asked.

Bronte gritted her teeth. "After you left, a bunch of people suddenly came in. They all seemed to be from the same organization and started ransacking my store."
