Chapter 111

Chapter 111

After Wesley left, the police officers crowded around Ophelia. "Ms. Hayes, if possible, you could contact Mr. Weston. After all, whether you can leave here is just a matter of one word from Mr. Weston. Otherwise, we'll have to follow normal procedures."

Ophelia closed her eyes, deciding not to listen to them.

The officers exchanged glances and shook their heads.

They left Ophelia alone in the interrogation room. She stared at the wall, lost in thought.

Earlier, Zoey had called her, saying Blake had slept with her and also mentioning Debra.

She must have known it was fake.

But she was still curious - Zoey had gone through so much trouble to lure her to that alley. Hadn't she considered that she might die?

Or had someone threatened Zoey, making her lure her there?

Based on what Blake had said, Ophelia thought the latter was more likely.

Time quickly passed to the next day.

Throughout the entire night, Ophelia hadn't closed her eyes once.

By now, she had dark circles under her eyes.

The interrogation room door opened. Ophelia looked at the clock on the wall - it was already 11:30.

"Ms. Hayes, it's already 11:30, and Mr. Weston's people still haven't shown up. Looks like what the deceased said was true; you really mean nothing to Mr. Weston."

Ophelia ignored them.

But the police pulled her up. "Get up, stop sitting there. Mr. King's people are already waiting outside to take you away. You're in for a rough time."

Ophelia looked at the officer in disbelief. "Is this still a police station? I'm a criminal suspect. I should be kept under strict guard, but you're going to hand me over?"

The officer sneered. "Police station? Do you know how much Mr. King has invested in our police station? Everything you can see right now was given to us by Mr. King. Do you think we can go against Mr. King's wishes?"

Ophelia really hadn't thought of that.

Seeing the men in black already at the door, Ophelia panicked. "Wait, I need to use the restroom."

The officer frowned, his look at Ophelia full of impatience. "Hold on, I'll get a female officer."

Soon, a female officer took Ophelia to the restroom. Along the way, she observed the general layout.

But unfortunately, there was no chance to escape.

"Stop looking around. Hurry up and finish so you can leave with Mr. King!"

Ophelia waited in the restroom for a while before the female officer came knocking.

The female officer kept urging her. She had wanted to stall for time, but now it seemed there was no choice.

After coming out, the female officer impatiently pushed her. "Behave yourself."

Ophelia returned to the police station lobby. The men in black beside Wesley were watching her like hawks.

Ophelia gritted her teeth.

What should she do? Did Blake know she was about to be taken away by Wesley?

"Hold out your hands." A man in black walked up to Ophelia, taking out handcuffs and a blindfold to put on her.

The next second, his hand felt a sharp pain.

"You bitch!"

A swift slap was about to land on Ophelia's face. She was being held down with no way to dodge.

Just as she thought the slap would hit her face, that familiar voice rang out.

"Who gave you the nerve to lay a hand on my woman?"

The voice was low and husky, with a unique charm.

Ophelia threw off the blindfold, her eyes lighting up. "Blake, you came!"

Both the police and the men in black were shocked; they hadn't expected Blake to actually come for this woman!

The officer's face broke into a smile. "Mr. Weston, your presence here is truly an honor for us."

Blake removed the handcuffs from Ophelia's hands and threw them in the officer's face. "If I remember correctly, handcuffs should be used on confirmed murderers."

The officer forced out a smile. "Mr. Weston, actually, the thing is, we..."

But Blake didn't continue listening. He looked down and asked Ophelia gently. "Sorry you had to go through that. Want me to get revenge for you?"

Ophelia reached out and tugged at Blake's clothes, shaking her head. "No need. I'm a bit tired and want to sleep."

Blake immediately bent down and scooped Ophelia up in his arms.

The men in black and the police were all shocked. Was this really Blake, known in the business world for being cold and ruthless?

Why did they only see a man willing to bend for love?

Blake carried Ophelia, his cold gaze sweeping over the people in front of him.

Blake's lips curved into a cold smile. "Lucas, take good care of them."

Lucas smiled without warmth. "Yes, Mr. Weston."

In the Rolls-Royce, Blake placed Ophelia on the seat. Ophelia suddenly winced. "What's wrong?"

Ophelia looked up into Blake's worried eyes and suddenly smiled. "The chair in the interrogation room was too hard. After sitting all night, my butt hurts a bit."

Blake reached out with his long arm and pulled Ophelia onto his lap. "Is this better?"

Lucas finished dealing with matters at the police station and opened the car door, only to see Blake and Ophelia sitting close together.

His heart rate instantly spiked, thinking he'd walked in on something intimate between them.

But the next second, Ophelia called out to him.

Ophelia's face looked like it was on fire as she said, "Lucas, come drive."

Lucas scratched his head, glanced at Blake, saw his dark expression, and quickly got in the driver's seat.

Meanwhile, Wesley's bodyguards returned empty-handed. Not seeing Ophelia, Wesley's expression was very unpleasant.

"Where's the person I told you to bring?"

"Mr. King, we were about to succeed, but then Mr. Weston suddenly showed up and even beat us up."

Wesley stood up and snorted coldly. "Didn't expect that woman to actually have something going for her. I didn't think Blake would value her this much."

"Mr. King, what should we do next?"

Wesley raised his hand slightly. "Don't rush. She'll be alone eventually."

After Ophelia returned to Pine Ridge Estate, Blake practically never left her side.

Even when she went downstairs, Blake had to personally accompany her.

Ophelia was quite helpless. " I'm fine. You don't follow me all the time."

Blake seemed not to hear, still accompanying Ophelia downstairs, watching her finish drinking water, and even personally taking the glass from her.

Ophelia changed the subject. "What about Zoey's case? Are the results out?"

Blake leaned against the bar, one hand in his pocket, taking a sip of water from Ophelia's glass. "It'll take some more time. Whoever did this didn't want the police to find out quickly."

Ophelia stared straight at Blake. "Does that mean you already know who did it?"

Blake snapped his fingers. "Exactly."

He turned around, placing his hands on either side of Ophelia.

Blake tilted his head, about to kiss her, but Ophelia stepped back.

She placed her hand against Blake's lips. "Tell me first."
