Chapter 106
"Mr. Brown, this is already your second day in a coma," the doctor said clearly.
But as soon as he finished speaking, William's expression changed instantly. He yanked out the IV needle from the back of his hand and struggled to get out of bed, trying to rush outside.
"Mr. Brown, what are you doing?"
This time, the watching doctors didn't dare stand by anymore. They all rushed forward, blocking William's path.
"I need to save her!" William said just this one sentence, then pushed forward with his head down.
Since he was injured, the doctors didn't dare restrain him forcefully. They could only back away while trying to persuade him.
But William acted as if he couldn't hear them at all, until Tony Gibson appeared.
Seeing him awake, Tony shouted with surprise and joy, "Mr. Brown, you're finally awake! You've been unconscious all night. The mole in the organization, I've already..."
Before he could finish, William pushed him aside.
"Mr. Brown, where are you going?"
Tony finally understood why the doctors had formed a human wall blocking the way.
William was trying to leave!
But his injuries hadn't healed yet. If he went out and attracted attention, it might lead to an investigation.
"Mr. Brown, you can't leave now." Tony blocked his path with a serious expression.
"The organization still needs you, and you know your own physical condition." He made it very clear, but still couldn't stop William's determination to leave.
Thinking that Emily needed him most and he wasn't by her side, William felt his heart being torn apart.
"Get out of my way!" His eyes carried a hint of cruelty, as if he would devour anyone in his path.
Tony felt a chill from that look, but still stubbornly stood in front of him.
"You should focus on recovering. We won't let you leave." After saying this, he gave the nearby doctors a look.
With his permission, the doctors no longer held back and directly grabbed William's limbs.
William was stunned by their actions for a moment, then reacted by kicking them all away, one by one.
"Are you going to disobey my orders now too?" He stared coldly at Tony.
Hearing this, Tony showed a bitter smile.
"How could I disobey your orders? But you need to understand, there are other subordinates in the organization. And now that there's a traitor, you need to handle it." He tried to reason with him emotionally and logically.
"Your health is more important than anything else. We worked hard to snatch you back from death's door, not to watch you throw your life away." By the end, Tony was also getting emotional, clearly at a loss from William's sudden behavior.
William's cold expression didn't soften because of his words. But before he could say anything else, a wave of dizziness hit him, and his body went limp and collapsed.
"Mr. Brown! Are you okay?" Tony hadn't expected this to happen. He quickly helped the doctors carry William back to bed.
"How is Mr. Brown's condition?" he asked with a frown.
The doctor shook his head. "His injuries haven't recovered yet. What he needs most is rest. He just fainted from lack of strength. He'll be fine with proper rest."
"That's good. Watch him carefully. Unless it's something very important, try not to report other matters to Mr. Brown. I'll give a comprehensive report later, and it won't implicate you." Tony arranged everything methodically, took a deep look at William, and left.
Others didn't yet know what was happening with the organization.
Meanwhile, Sophia was still sound asleep in the bar's private room when she suddenly heard noisy sounds from outside.
Still hung over and having spent the night in the private room, she was woken by the noise with messy hair and was clearly in a bad mood.
"Who is it? Are you trying to tear the place down this early in the morning?" She grumbled complaints as she randomly slipped on slippers to open the door.
"Don't move! Police!"
Before Sophia could react, a gun was already pressed against her forehead.
The sudden turn of events instantly sobered her up completely.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" She asked with trembling lips, as if she hadn't heard what the officer just said or seen their uniforms.
The police didn't respond to her questions. Their eyes quickly searched the private room.
"Report, Sir, no sign of Brian."
Hearing the report, the lead officer slightly lowered his hand. The officer who had been holding the gun to Sophia immediately put it down, restrained her hands behind her back, and pressed her onto the sofa.
"Sir, what exactly are you doing? I've always been law-abiding and definitely haven't done anything bad!" Sophia's voice was still shaking, but she instinctively defended herself.
Usually she just drank, hired male models, and had some conflicts with Emily, but that shouldn't warrant being arrested by the police!
Seeing Sophia's nervousness, the lead officer gave her a gentle smile. "Ms. Johnson, there may be some misunderstanding between us, but we're here to ask if you know Brian's whereabouts."
"My dad? What does that mean?" The confusion on her face was clearly genuine.
The officer stared at her intently for a long while, then waved his hand. "Take her away!"
The harsh fluorescent lights came on before her eyes, and Sophia instinctively squinted.
When she gradually adjusted to the light, she found herself sitting in the police station's interrogation room. The surveillance camera was facing her, and she was now sitting behind the table like a criminal.
"Sir, I haven't committed any crime, have I? Why are you treating me like this?" she said with dissatisfaction. "I'm going to file a complaint against you!"
Faced with her threat, the officer just maintained a serious expression and spoke coldly. "Given your father-daughter relationship with suspect Brian, we have the right to require your cooperation in questioning."
After saying this, another officer began taking notes on a laptop nearby.
"Just ask whatever you want to ask directly. Don't use this criminal interrogation approach." Sophia muttered with dissatisfaction.
The police briefly explained the situation, then began questioning.
"Have you had any contact with Brian these past few days, or has he contacted you through other means?"
"No, I've been out drinking these past few days." Sophia was quite cooperative now. Whatever the police asked, she answered clearly, even volunteering information they hadn't asked about.
After repeated questioning and confirming that Sophia didn't know anything else, the police finally allowed her to leave the interrogation room.
According to procedure, since Sophia didn't know anything, they couldn't forcibly detain her, but they still needed to make things clear.
