Chapter 101
The most important thing right now was to figure out how to make Emily compromise.
That damn girl! She thought he didn't know that netizens were now furious and ready to condemn him, refusing to believe Emily's clarification video.
She wasclearly the one who stirred them up! And yet she still put on that wronged act, really thinking he didn't know anything!
"Honey, what do we do now?" Harper sat restlessly, pacing back and forth anxiously. "Emily might have already called the police. What if the cops are on their way right now? Once the police find out what's going on here, we won't be able to hide it anymore."
"Shut up!" Brian snapped coldly.
Harper flinched at his harsh tone, shrinking her neck in fear, but feeling quite indignant inside.
When it came down to it, wasn't it Brian who didn't handle things properly? Otherwise, how would they be in this mess today? And he still had the nerve to lose his temper at her.
Brian was also restless.
He knew Emily hadn't called the police yet only because she was worried about Amelia, but this wasn't a long-term solution.
If Emily decided to go down fighting and take everyone with her, he couldn't really do anything to her.
Just as Harper said, Emily might have already called the police by now. Before he even got a chance to negotiate with Emily, the cops would probably show up at his door.
No, he had to run now. He couldn't stay here anymore.
But before leaving, he had to do one thing first.
Amelia lay on the ground, her body shaking violently. She felt pain everywhere and wanted to speak, but her throat was hoarse from all the screaming she'd done during the night.
But even so, Brian had no intention of letting her go.
Amelia struggled to open her eyes. "Emily... Emily..."
She called out softly, looking around blankly, searching for Emily's figure.
But she saw nothing except scattered mess.
Was she really going to die here today?
That crazy Brian! What wouldn't he do? She didn't expect Brian to suddenly grow a conscience.
But even if she was going to die, she should at least see her daughter one more time before dying. Emily probably didn't even know she'd been brought here.
At this thought, Amelia somehow found the strength to struggle to her feet.
She wanted to see Emily, to tell her she was here, to have Emily come save her.
But just as Amelia got up, the door was kicked open.
A loud bang made Amelia's head ring.
Before she could recover, she saw Brian had returned. "What do you want?"
Amelia's eyes were full of fear as she trembled and raised her hands to cover her face.
Brian had just given her a beating, and her whole body hurt. She didn't want to get hit again.
But contrary to Amelia's expectations, Brian didn't hit her. Instead, he took a few photos and videos of her, then left.
It wasn't until Brian left that Amelia realized what he was planning to do.
"Brian! Come back here!" Amelia rushed to the door like a madwoman, desperately trying to shake it open, but the door wouldn't budge.
"Don't show it to Emily, she can't handle it! Come back! Come back!" She screamed hysterically, her hoarse voice echoing for a long time.
But Brian never came back, and his footsteps grew more and more distant.
That's right, he was going to show it to Emily.
If that bitch really dared to call the police, then he would strike first and show Emily this video and photos.
Even if he didn't get anything good out of this in the end, he absolutely wouldn't let Emily have her way.
Emily was indeed considering calling the police.
Before that, she called William several more times, each time full of hope, but each ending in disappointment.
She couldn't understand what had happened on William's end in such a short time that he just disappeared like that. It was too fast, wasn't it?
He had promised her this afternoon that he would definitely come back to help. Why did he vanish in the blink of an eye?
Even his phone was unreachable. Were all those things he said to her before just lies?
With nowhere else to turn, Emily took out her phone and dialed the emergency number.
But she hesitated to make the call. She didn't know what the consequences would be after making this call.
Of course it would be great if the police could really help her rescue her mother, but what if this call became the trigger that got her mother killed?
Emily couldn't decide.
Just then, her phone rang. Someone was adding her as a friend.
Emily didn't know who it was, but clicked accept.
However, the other side immediately sent a video. When Emily opened it, her eyes went wide.
In the video, her mother lay on the ground like a dead dog, hair disheveled and covered in dust, even her clothes wrinkled and messy.
The camera slowly zoomed in, and Emily saw her mother's face was covered with handprints.
With a bang, Emily stood up abruptly, her eyes wide open, pupils trembling violently.
How could this be? Brian had actually laid hands on her mother.
But what made Emily even angrier was that from the video alone, she couldn't tell where this place was or what kind of harm her mother had suffered.
"Brian! Are you even human!" Emily cursed at her phone.
Even though he now had a new wife, he shouldn't do such cruel things to his former wife. How was he any different from an animal? This was absolutely outrageous!
The video wasn't long, only about ten seconds total.
But watching it felt like knives piercing Emily's heart, making it tremble violently.
How could she have such a heartless father, using this method to force her to give in?
Emily didn't finish watching the video before closing it and calling Brian, but no one answered.
He really was careful, doing everything cleanly, afraid of leaving any evidence. Now he wouldn't even answer the phone.
Emily called several times in a row but couldn't get through. She had to consider whether to do as Brian arranged.
There was no other way now. If she kept hesitating, who knew what kind of suffering her mother would endure.
She couldn't let her mother suffer anymore. Even if her mother suffered the slightest bit more harm, Emily wished it could be transferred to herself instead.
Just as Emily was preparing to record another video on her phone, another video came in.
This video was even more direct - it was Brian slapping her mother, and the sound made Emily's heart clench.
She couldn't worry about anything else now. She had to call the police immediately.
Emily couldn't let Brian control her like this anymore, or her mother would only suffer more harm.
Emily gritted her teeth and decisively pressed the phone number she had prepared earlier. Before it rang twice, someone answered.
