Chapter 254 Using Briar
Chapter 254 Using Briar
Briar had the whole Ramirez clan backing her, so she had nothing to worry about and was here to stir up trouble.
As the legitimate daughter, her gaze was sharp, and her arrogance was off the charts. She looked down on illegitimate children, especially someone like Emily.
Compared to Emily's fake confidence, the difference between the two was like night and day. It was obvious who came from a more prestigious background.
Emily was stunned by the word "dad."
"You're Colt's daughter?"
No one had ever mentioned that Colt had a wife and kid! There was no lady of the house living in the estate!
Colt was so affectionate towards Jessa and kind to her. How could he suddenly have a daughter with someone else?
Emily's hand trembled as she pointed at Briar, her voice shaking with disbelief.
"Who... who is your mom?"
Briar smirked, her demeanor calm as she enunciated each word.
"My mom came from a wealthy family and married into the Ramirez family. I am Colt's only legitimate daughter. Is that answer satisfactory, you wretch?"
Emily shook her head, laughing in disbelief, her face turning pale.
"How is that possible? I've never heard anyone say Mr. Ramirezhad has a daughter. There's no trace of you living in the estate."
Briar laughed haughtily.
"Because my family wanted to groom me, they sent me abroad at a young age. After my mom passed away, my dad kept a low profile, hoping I would become a dark horse that would amaze everyone."
"And I have my villa. Why would I live in the estate?"
Only Emily had to squeeze into a small room in the estate, constantly watched and restricted.
Thinking of this, Emily was already on the verge of collapse.
She had thought she had a trump card given by Jessa, believing she was about to rise to the top.
But it all seemed like a fantasy.
Briar's appearance had shattered her illusions!
Elizabeth watched the amusing scene, raising an eyebrow with interest as she reminded Emily.
"My dear sister, didn't you say Mr. Ramirez would help you? So, did he rescue Jessa?"
Emily suddenly remembered this, her eyes fixed on Elizabeth, her psychological defenses crumbling in self-doubt.
She had never dared to imagine becoming incredibly fragile.
Emily finally realized that Colt had never openly acknowledged her. He had only given her some verbal promises, making her willingly work in the lab for him.
She seemed to be just a pawn being used.
And as for rescuing Jessa, Colt hadn't mentioned it at all, or he had just brushed it off, clearly having no intention of doing so!
"Ms. Perez, you've even forgotten your last name. Do you really think the Ramirez family would want a daughter like you?"
Briar looked at her pitifully, leaning against the doorframe, her voice cold, her gaze behind her gold-rimmed glasses as sharp as a scalpel.
"Or is it that you're after the Ramirez family's money, willing to throw away your dignity?"
This sentence struck Emily to the core.
In front of so many students, she had completely lost face!
If she continued to stay, she would truly be abandoning her dignity, returning to the days of being gossiped about daily.
But she had the Ramirez family bloodline. She had finally reached the threshold of a wealthy family. How could she leave so easily?
Under the watchful eyes of many, people were already pointing fingers at her.
Emily endured the humiliation, not daring to look up at Briar, only tugging at her sleeves.
She felt terrible, like a knife was pressed against her neck, forcing her to make a choice!
Elizabeth smiled quietly, stepping back to give the stage to the two of them, watching the show with interest.
The murmurs of the surrounding students grew louder. As a so-called senior and person in charge, Emily's reputation was in tatters.
Her throat tightened, and she lowered her head, on the verge of tears.
From the Perez family to the Ramirez family, why could she never escape the identity of an illegitimate child? Did she deserve to live so lowly? Why!
Briar stepped closer, revealing a Patek Philippe watch on her wrist, the same model as Colt's, the cold light from the dial stinging Emily's eyes.
She leaned in, the scent of expensive perfume, something Emily could never afford, enveloping her with an oppressive aura.
"Verdantia National Laboratory is a gift from my father, and it will eventually be handed over to me. I don't want to see you here again, do you understand?"
"A bastard like you, born from a wretch, with your mind full of clinging to wealthy families, doesn't deserve to touch pure academic research!"
Fox heard this and frowned, reaching out to tug at Briar, whispering a reminder.
"Uncle Colt told us to keep a low profile, not to reveal our identities. But Briar, you're drawing too much attention today."
Just realizing this? Elizabeth, who had been instigating from behind, smiled and had already stepped out of the conflict.
But Briar, in her anger, ignored Fox's words, shaking off his hand and coldly warning Emily.
"Stop using the power my father gave you to torment others. You have ten minutes to pack your things and get off Science Island! Don't let me see you again!"
Briar was now solely targeting Emily, leaving her at a loss, standing there silently.
Fox, seeing things more clearly from the outside, realized it was too late to salvage the situation.
Colt had brought this illegitimate daughter in for a reason, likely with another purpose.
But everything had just begun, and the goal hadn't been achieved. Today's commotion was clearly not what Colt wanted.
With so many people watching, Colt's carefully laid plans were ruined.
Elizabeth tugged at Louis, quietly leaving with him.
By the time Fox came to his senses, the two were already out of sight.
He trusted Louis but began to suspect Elizabeth, grabbing Briar.
"Stop it. Haven't you noticed Elizabeth is gone?"
Briar frowned. "What does that have to do with me? I'm not close to her."
She turned back, continuing to stare at Emily, forcing her to make a choice.
Fox sighed, realizing Briar still hadn't caught on.
While they were still at a standoff, Elizabeth had already separated from Louis and returned to her room alone.
She took out a spare phone from her bag and made a call to Henry.
As soon as the call connected, she immediately ordered.
"Find out why Colt's daughter, Briar, is in the lab."
Briar's words, "The lab is a gift from my father," had successfully piqued Elizabeth's interest.
The lab was hers, Elizabeth's. When had it become Colt's private property to give away?
