"But a man who's unwilling to spend money on a woman definitely doesn't love her."
"Even though Dad loves Mom a lot right now, no one can guarantee he'll love her the same way in the future. I'm testing him in advance for Mom's sake. I don't want Mom to get hurt."
Connor's explanation was a bit deep, and Mia didn't quite understand it right away.
She reached up and scratched her head lightly, nodding thoughtfully.
They were both Elena and Harrison's children, both spent thirty-eight weeks in Elena's belly, so why did Mia feel like her intelligence wasn't even on the same level as Connor's?
After all, she didn't really understand the logic Connor was talking about.
But soon Mia felt better about it. As long as Elena and Harrison could live happily together, what did spending a little more money matter?
With the three children's help, Elena picked out two expensive wedding dresses at the bridal shop - one to wear on the wedding day, and another as a backup.
After selecting the wedding dresses, with the staff's help, Elena went to the fitting room.
The three children sat on the sofa in the bridal shop, stretching their heads to look at the tablet in Connor's hands.
Harrison looked at his three children, unable to stop the smile at the corners of his mouth and eyes.
Just then, Simon appeared at the bridal shop looking somewhat nervous. The moment he saw Harrison, he coughed lightly to get Harrison's attention.
He came to Harrison's side and called out softly, "Mr. Frost."
Seeing Simon, Harrison's expression visibly darkened. He said to Simon with some displeasure, "What's going on? Didn't I tell you I was spending today with Elena and the kids picking out wedding dresses and outfits, and not to bother me unless it was important?"
Looking at Harrison's cold face, Simon found it hard to speak.
After a moment, as if gathering his courage, he said to Harrison, "Mr. Frost, Gloria Hall is back."
When he heard Gloria's name, Harrison's expression instantly froze.
After a three-second pause, he pulled Simon aside to a corner.
"When did she get back?"
Simon answered, "Just now, she got off the plane. As soon as she landed, she called me."
"Mr. Frost, you and Ms. Reed are about to get married. What does Gloria mean by coming back now? Is she asking you to keep the promise you made back then?"
Simon's words made Harrison's expression even darker. He didn't say anything, just stood there in a daze.
"Mr. Frost?"
"You settle her in first. I'll deal with it after I'm done with today." After giving Simon brief instructions, Harrison sent him away.
Harrison's expression was terrible at that moment. From his serious look, it wasn't hard to tell how complicated his state of mind was.
Even so, Harrison still maintained a smile and picked out the wedding dress and outfits with Elena and the children.
That evening, after Harrison took Elena and the children home, he hurriedly left.
Lily pulled on Elena's hand and asked, "Mom, where did Dad go?"
Elena told Lily, "Dad said there's something very important at the company that he has to deal with right now."
"Really?" The usually soft-natured Lily was a bit puzzled.
She had doubts about Harrison's words. If she hadn't heard wrong at the bridal shop today, Simon had said that the woman named Gloria was back.
Harrison going out now probably wasn't to handle company business - he was going to see Gloria, wasn't he?
Others might not know Gloria's identity, but Lily knew something about her. Back when she was stolen by Mandy, and after the paternity test, she had lived at the Frost Estate.
Mandy had a bad temper and often couldn't control herself in front of Lily. After getting upset with Harrison, she would always take it out on Lily.
Lily had heard Mandy curse Gloria. At the time, Mandy said that Gloria was Harrison's true love and that Harrison wouldn't marry her because of Gloria's existence.
If Gloria really was Harrison's true love, and she was back in the country now, would her appearance affect Harrison and Elena's wedding?
Lily had been raised by Mandy and suffered all kinds of abuse. It was only when Elena returned to the country that she felt the warmth a mother could give. She just wanted Elena and Harrison to get married. She didn't want anyone's appearance to destroy their family's happiness.
Not even Gloria.
With this thought, the usually timid Lily quickly came up with a plan.
She would go find Harrison.
She would disrupt Harrison's meeting with Gloria.
She would protect Elena and their family, just like Mia and Connor would.
With this in mind, Lily said to Elena, "Mom, I'm a bit tired today. I don't want dinner. I want to go to bed early."
Hearing that Lily was tired, Elena worried she might be unwell. Elena crouched down and, after finding nothing unusual with Lily, let her go upstairs to sleep.
Lily returned to her room, changed clothes, and, when no one was paying attention to her, she grabbed her doll, took the phone the family had given her, and left through the backyard, heading to the entrance of the residential area.
Usually, when she went out to play, Mia and Connor took her along. Going out by herself today made her a bit nervous.
But to drive away Gloria, who wanted to destroy her family's harmony, Lily still gathered her courage, hailed a taxi, and headed to Frost Industries.
Didn't Elena say Harrison was going to the company to handle work? Then she would go to Frost Industries to see if Harrison was really handling work.
The Frost Industries office building was brightly lit at night.
After getting out of the taxi, Lily, holding her doll, prepared to go upstairs to find Harrison.
Before she even reached the Frost Industries office lobby, she spotted Harrison's figure in a coffee shop next to Frost Industries.
Harrison sat in a spot away from the windows. Across from him sat a woman with makeup on, wearing a long coat with curly hair, looking quite fashionable.
She sat across from Harrison, looking at Harrison's extremely handsome face with an affectionate gaze.
The moment Lily saw this woman, she guessed her identity.
She must be Gloria.
