Chapter 290: I Harmed Him

Chapter 290: I Harmed Him

Half an hour later, with Nathan's help, Harrison was rushed into the emergency room.

Nathan personally worked to save Harrison.

Charlotte also rushed to the hospital after receiving Nathan's call.

Elena sat in the hospital corridor, disheveled, curled up in a ball, looking exhausted.

Seeing Elena like this, Charlotte felt terrible. She softly called out, "Elena."

Hearing Charlotte's voice, Elena suddenly looked up. The moment she saw Charlotte, all the strength she'd been pretending to have completely crumbled.

She stood up and hugged Charlotte tightly.

"Charlotte."

Elena's tears fell one by one.

She held Charlotte tight and murmured, "Charlotte, he's in really bad shape. He's going to die. It's my fault. I hurt him."

"If I hadn't fallen for Mandy's trap and gone to Silver Willow River Bridge, Harrison wouldn't have followed me there. He wouldn't have taken Mandy's attacks trying to save me. It's my fault, all my fault."

"This is all my fault. I was so stupid."

Hearing Elena blame herself, Charlotte felt awful too. After years of friendship, this was the first time she'd seen Elena this heartbroken.

In her memory, Elena was incredibly strong. She'd personally witnessed Elena being scolded by Robert and Christine, being driven out into the yard to be mistreated on snowy days.

She'd also seen Elena endure all kinds of humiliation from Christine and Mandy just to get money to study abroad.

She'd even watched Elena alone overseas, pregnant, studying medicine while taking care of herself.

Even when Elena went into the operating room, Charlotte had never seen her shed a single tear.

Such a strong person, crying uncontrollably over Harrison—Charlotte could tell that through their time together, Harrison had found his way into Elena's heart.

Charlotte reached out and gently patted Elena's back.

She said, "It's okay. Nathan is so skilled, he'll definitely save Mr. Frost."

"Don't worry, Elena. Don't be scared. I'm here with you."

Charlotte's comforting words didn't help Elena at all. She kept crying.

At that moment, Nathan was working to save Harrison in the operating room. Harrison had many external injuries, but none were serious.

Because Mandy had attacked Harrison with a stick earlier, his internal organs had suffered some serious damage.

Plus, he and Elena had both fallen into the river. If Elena hadn't managed to untie the rope around her wrists in the water and desperately held onto Harrison while swimming downstream, Harrison probably wouldn't even have had the chance to be lying on the operating table right now.

The hospital was working frantically to save Harrison.

Meanwhile, at Elena's house, Victoria received a call from Charlotte. Learning that Harrison had been rushed into surgery, she quickly packed some things and was about to bring the three children to the hospital to be with Harrison during the operation.

But as soon as they stepped out the front door, they saw Barry and Tessa blocking the entrance to Elena's villa.

Victoria wasn't familiar with Barry and Tessa, so she had no intention of dealing with them. But unexpectedly, this shameless couple directly blocked Victoria's way.

"Don't leave!"

Barry confidently stepped in front of Victoria.

The moment she saw Barry, Victoria's eyebrows shot up. She looked Barry and Tessa up and down. As a woman of her status, she had no intention of taking them seriously.

"Who are you? Why are you blocking me? Get out of the way. Don't waste my time."

Victoria tried to push Barry aside, but he was a man after all. Her push didn't budge him at all.

Fortunately, Elena's house always had security guards. The guards rushed forward and stopped Barry. Seeing the situation turning against them, Barry shot Tessa a look. The two fifty-something troublemakers dropped to the ground and started making a scene at Victoria.

"You old woman, occupying my sister's house, and now you're asking why I'm stopping you?"

"Let me tell you, you and these kids need to move out right now. This house belongs to our family. I lived here for years. What right do you have to occupy it?"

Barry and Tessa made a scene while demanding Victoria leave.

Victoria frowned.

She turned to look at the three children and asked, "Do you know these jerks?"

Victoria used the word "jerks" to refer to Barry and Tessa.

Connor spoke first, "Grandma, I know them. They're Mom's dad's wife's older brother."

The relationship Connor described made Victoria's head spin. It seemed a bit complicated, didn't it?

Mia added, "Grandma, these shameless people took over the house my grandmother left to my mom after she went abroad. Mom had to work really hard to kick them out."

Lily nodded and said, "Yes, I've seen them bully Mom. Grandma, they're like parasites trying to take over Mom's house."

The three smart kids explained the whole situation to Victoria, one after another.

When Barry, who was making a scene on the ground, heard Lily say he was like parasites taking over her home.

He pointed at Lily and yelled.

"You damn brat, how dare you say I'm stealing a nest? This house was mine to begin with. How many years have I lived here?"

"Back then, my sister Christine said she'd give me this house. Elena, that damn bitch, got people to use dirty tricks to kick us out."

"Now Elena has drowned in the water, so this house is ours again. Get out, all of you. Get out now."

Barry made this scene in front of the children, scaring the timid Lily so much that she immediately started crying.

Hearing Lily cry, Victoria picked her up and carefully comforted her.

Connor was furious. Seeing Lily scared to tears, he immediately pointed at the security guards and said, "Quick, throw these shameless jerks out."

The guards stepped forward to drag Barry and Tessa away.

But unexpectedly, the frail and sickly Tessa put her hands on her hips and said fearlessly, "I have a heart condition. If you use violence and cause my heart attack, I'll make you lose everything!"
