Chapter 250: Noah in Critical Condition

Chapter 250: Noah in Critical Condition

A deafening crash.

A massive piece of ceiling came crashing down with a fireball, landing less than 6 feet away from Phoebe.

Flames shot up into the sky, thick smoke and heat waves rushed at her, making it almost impossible to breathe.

The piercing sound of brakes cut through the night as a black Maybach screeched to a halt at the entrance of The White Mansion.

The car door was violently pushed open, and Noah jumped out before the car even came to a complete stop.

Heat waves hit his face as the White Mansion before him was engulfed in flames, thick smoke billowing straight up into the sky.

"Mr. White! Mr. White, you can't go in!"

Several ash-covered firefighters grabbed Noah around the waist. "The fire is too big! The structure is unstable; it could collapse any second!"

"Get off me!"

Noah's eyes were bloodshot, staring fixedly at the leaping flames, veins bulging at his temples, completely losing his usual composure.

"Phoebe is in there! My grandfather is in there, too! You want me to watch them die? Get out of my way!"

In a fit of rage, he swung a punch at the firefighter's shoulder. The moment the man loosened his grip in pain, Noah threw his suit jacket over his head and plunged into the thick smoke without hesitation.

"Mr. White!"

......

Everything in the hall was burning.

Oxygen was getting scarcer. Phoebe lay beside the wheelchair, her consciousness beginning to fade.

Her throat was in severe pain, each breath bringing a burning sensation.

"Phoebe, forget about me. I'm dying anyway. Just crawl out yourself," Larry coughed violently.

"No, I can't," Phoebe bit down hard on her tongue, using the pain to stay conscious. Tears streamed down from the smoke. "I can't leave you here alone."

Just when she thought she was really going to die here.

A deafening crash.

The side door that had been welded shut was smashed open by a heavy object, and then a figure rushed in with the wind.

Phoebe struggled to lift her eyelids.

Through the thick smoke, that man was covered in black soot, his suit burned with several holes, looking quite disheveled.

It was Noah.

Phoebe was a bit dazed, thinking she was hallucinating.

"Noah?" She moved her dry lips.

Noah immediately spotted Phoebe and Larry in the corner.

Seeing that Phoebe was still alive, his anxious heart had just settled when anger surged up.

He rushed over in a few steps, yanked Phoebe up from the ground, and shouted, "Are you stupid? The fire is so big, and you don't know where to find cover? Do you want to die!"

Though his words were harsh, his hand gripped Phoebe's wrist tightly, with such force it seemed he wanted to crush her bones.

"Mr. White." Phoebe had no energy to argue with him and pointed at the wheelchair.

"Shut up! I have eyes!"

Noah pushed the wheelchair with one hand while still keeping hold of Phoebe with the other, shouting, "Follow me! The wall here is thin; it's been blown open!"

Just as the three were about to move, the sound of breaking wood came from overhead.

Noah jerked his head up.

A huge burning beam was falling right toward them from above.

No time to dodge.

The falling firelight reflected in Phoebe's pupils, but her body couldn't move.

"Watch out!"

Noah's angry roar rang in her ears.

The next second, a tremendous force pushed hard on her shoulder.

Phoebe fell backward uncontrollably, and Larry's wheelchair was also pushed 6 feet away.

A dull thud came, mixed with the slight sound of breaking bones.

Phoebe fell to the ground and whipped her head around.

"Noah!"

The burning beam had crashed down on Noah's back.

He was knocked to his knees, blood spraying from his mouth and staining the floor in front of him red.

Noah braced himself against the ground with all his strength, refusing to fall. The clothes on his back instantly caught fire, giving off a burning smell.

"Noah! Are you crazy!"

Phoebe crawled over on all fours, trying to push the beam off, tears instantly pouring out. "Why did you push me away? Are you insane! You're going to die!"

Noah's face was covered in blood as he barely lifted his head.

Looking at Phoebe crying with her face covered in soot, he actually smiled, his voice hoarse,

"Why are you crying? You look ugly."

After saying this, the light in his eyes instantly went out, and his head dropped heavily.

"Noah? Noah!"

Phoebe's heart felt like a piece had been carved out, the pain making it hard to breathe.

"Don't sleep! Wake up! Get up!"

She held the blood-covered Noah in her arms, letting out desperate cries in this burning hall.

Two minutes later, firefighters finally rushed in.

"Quick! There are people here! Stretcher!"

......

Hospital, outside the emergency room.

The corridor lights were harsh and white, the air filled with the smell of disinfectant.

Phoebe slumped on the bench, filthy all over, her cream-colored dress covered in black soot and bloodstains.

Her left leg injury had flared up again, the pain piercing, but she seemed numb to it, just staring at the red light above the emergency room.

Larry had inhaled smoke and was getting oxygen in the next room; nothing serious.

"Where is Noah's family?" A nurse rushed out with a form, her tone urgent. "Noah has severe burns on his back, spinal damage, and bleeding in his brain. We need a signature immediately for craniotomy!"

Phoebe jumped up, her legs giving way and nearly collapsing. "I am! I'm his fiancée."

She signed her name on the surgery consent form with trembling fingers.

In that moment, all the hatred and resentment in her heart over these years seemed to have been burned away by that fire.

She remembered his coldness when he broke her leg, his mockery when he forced her to kneel.

But all these images were replaced by his figure pushing her away in the firelight.

Phoebe covered her chest, tears silently falling on the floor.

"Noah, you haven't finished paying back what you owe me," Phoebe leaned against the wall, murmuring to herself. "You can't die. If you die, I'll remarry with your child and make sure you can't rest in peace even after death."

......

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city.

Vivian had escaped through the sewer during the chaos of the fire.

Covered in filth, she hid in a dark alley, not daring to expose herself.

Western suburbs of Port Linden, abandoned chemical plant.

The place had been deserted for over a decade, overgrown with weeds, rusty cans everywhere, and a pungent smell.

Vivian huddled behind a huge rusty barrel, trembling all over.

She hadn't even dared to drink water these past few days. Her hair was matted, her face covered in dirt, her eyes bloodshot with a hint of madness.

Police sirens came from outside, along with orderly footsteps.

Getting closer and closer.

"Vivian! You're surrounded! Put down your weapon and come out to surrender!"

The police loudspeaker echoed through the empty factory building.

"I won't go out! I won't go out!"

She poked her head out and, through the broken window, saw the dense array of police cars outside, and several black sedans at the front.

She recognized those license plates - they were the White family's cars.

Noah wasn't awake yet, but the White family had already come for her life.

"I'm the daughter of the Bell family! I can't go to jail! I can't go to that filthy place!"

Vivian screamed shrilly, her voice piercing. "Don't come any closer! If you do, I'll blow this place up! There are chemicals everywhere! Worst case, we all die together!"

"Vivian, don't do anything stupid."

At that moment, a familiar voice rang out.

Ethan stepped out of one of the cars.

He looked at the crazed Vivian in the window, his expression complex and weary.

"Ethan? Ethan, you came to save me, didn't you?"

Vivian grabbed onto this lifeline like a drowning person, crying out, "Ethan, take me away! Let's go abroad! I don't want to stay here!"
