Chapter 27
Mr Henry Richmond, Nates grandfather finally arrived at the company. Mr Henry Richmond walked into the company building with his head up high and a straight face. His presence attracted so much attention to him.
Mr Henry Richmond is in his early sixties, his tall and can be seen to have a strong jawline. It could be said that he was a handsome man in his teenage and youth age as he still retained that feature in his sixties.
As he walked into the company, his eyes scanned every corner of the building, from the decor of the building to the employees that were busy with their work.
Mitchel whose office was close to Nate's office was busy typing in her computer. She felt goosebumps as Mr Henry eyes landed on her. She pretended not see see him, instead she focused on her work.
Nate, who was in his office quickly ended his call when Mr Henry Richmond his grandfather entered his office. He was really scared of him, he prayed he won't critize his work like he always do.
He stood up from his seat as he processeded to greet his grandfather.
“Good afternoon grandfather, you are welcome”, he said, with a bow as a sign of respect.
Mr Henry nodded curly, his eyes quickly running down Nate's dressing. He was looking so unkept.
“Nate, why are you dressed like this, when will you start dressing like a CEO that you are and leave this teenage dressing?”, Mr Henry asked, his voice sounded disappointed.
Nate smiled not knowing what to say, “I'm sorry for looking this way, I'm just scared that I look a bit old to dress in a suit and tie, grandfather”. Nate replied.
Mr Henry snorted, “No one is ever too old to dress properly, I'm in my late sixties and I still look good always, you need to emulate that. Anyways, let's leave that aside, I'm here for business not to look at your dressing.”
“How is the company's finance, hope it's growing and you are not running it to the ground?” Mr Henry asked.
Nate got angry, he was pissed by the question his grandfather asked. He has put in his best to ensure the company goes forward and his grandfather knows, but he always wants him to feel like he is not doing enough.
Nate shrugged off his annoyance, he kept his cools, he does not want his grandfather to sense his mood.
“Of course grandfather, the company's finance has increased showing from the statistics of the past few months. I will show you the statistics in the conference room when we get there.” Nate replied.
Nate led Mr Henry to the conference room which was one of the largest place in the company's building. As they walked pass Mitchel, she could not help but feel pity for Nate as she has heard alot of sad things about Mr Henry. From the rumors, she heard that Mr Henry was a tough business man. She just wondered how Nate handles his grandfather considering his constant demand and criticism.
Nate and Mr Henry got into the conference room and shut the door, they left Mitchel wondering what could be happening inside the room.
She tried to shift her focus back to her work, but her mind kept going back to the conversation she overhead between Mr Henry and Nate.
After a long whille, that felt like eternity that had no end, Mr Henry and Nate came out of the conference room, they both looked strained and tensed. Mr Henry looked angry and it could be seen from the way he kept his face and Nate looked frustrated.
“You are not meeting up with my expectations, Nate”, Mr Henry was saying.
“I made you the CEO of my company so you could follow my order and not do what you think or feel is right”.
“I can understand grandfather but I'm trying my best, you can see from the statistics that we grew by 20%”, Nate said as his jaw clenched.
“20% is not good enough, that's not much progress, please focus and do better”, Mr Henry said as he walked away.
Mitchel could not help but stare at Nate with so much sympathy, she wondered if Nate will ever be free from his overbearing grandfather who never appreciates his hard work.
Mr Henry walked out of the company's building, he was done for the day. He only came to the company to see how the company's finance was doing but obviously, he wasn't satisfied with the rate at the which the finance was growing.
Mitchel was still lost in thought as she gazed at Nate without blinking, Mitchel watched Nate take a deep breath to release himself and she quickly composed herself.
Nate eyes scanned the whole office like was trying to look something he misplaced and then his eyes landed in Mitchel and she smiled.
“Mitchel,” he smiled as he walked to to her
“My grandfather can be very strict sometimes, I'm so sorry about that behavior he put up”.
Mitchel was lost in words, she was confused, why was he apologizing to her. She didn't know what to say, she just smiled and nodded her head,
“I understand, it's okay”, she replied finally after some seconds.
Nate moved closer to her desk, his eyes still fixed on her,
“Sometimes Mitchel, it feels like you are the only one that truly understand me”. Nate said.
Mitchel quickly felt cold breeze run down her spine, as she heard those words from Nate. She didn't know why she reacted that way but she tried to compose herself so that Nate won't see her reaction.
“You think so?” Mitchel asked,
“I'm just doing my job as the secretary that I am”, Mitchel added.
But Nate found what she said funny, he smiled back and replied her saying,
“I think you are really driving me insane, you are really good at your job. You are really doing a lot more than a job of a sectary”. He replied with a smile.
He walked away after saying those words to her, he left Mitchel confused and attracted to him
