Chapter 186 Scarlett Is Forced Onto the Operating Table
Sarah dropped Scarlett off downstairs at the dance company. Before Scarlett got out of the car, Sarah leaned over and asked something, her curiosity clear.
"I wonder if Daniel drank that nutritious soup."
Sarah was gloating.
Scarlett smiled. Given Daniel's personality, he wouldn't even eat animal organs normally.
If he really drank it, he'd be in for some suffering.
"Don't you feel bad for him?" Sarah stared at Scarlett, blinking.
Scarlett paused. Yesterday, Scarlett and Blair had argued over a bowl of soup, and Blair had complained to Daniel about it.
If Daniel cared even a little bit, he would have known what kind of soup it was.
If he still drank that soup today, he could only blame himself for not paying attention. He deserved it.
Scarlett raised her eyebrows and shrugged. "Feeling sorry for bad men brings a lifetime of bad luck. Isn't that your motto?"
"You're right." Sarah laughed heartily.
At the Star Group.
Daniel, who was indeed suffering, walked out of the bathroom.
Daniel's expression had returned to calm, showing no trace of his earlier embarrassment, but his pale face and gloomy look made people afraid to look directly at him.
Tom stood to the side, thinking about how he had just encouraged Daniel to drink more, feeling very uneasy.
"Find out where my mother got that placenta and cut off her supply chain!"
Daniel ordered coldly.
Tom felt relieved and quickly agreed, bowing his head as he left.
Just then, Blair's phone call came through again.
Daniel answered with cold eyes, and Blair's dissatisfied voice came through again.
"I wasn't finished talking, why did you hang up! I'm at Regal Estate, and Jane says Scarlett hasn't been back to stay recently."
"Scarlett is pregnant. If she doesn't like living at The Wilson Mansion, she should move back to Regal Estate. I'll bring the nutritious things over. Jane is reliable and would be perfect to take care of Scarlett."
"How can you let her live outside at a time like this? She's young and doesn't know better. How can she take care of the baby in her belly?"
If it weren't for that last sentence, Blair would have seemed like she was genuinely concerned about Scarlett.
Hearing Blair's words, Daniel's stomach churned uncomfortably again.
Daniel said coldly, "Stop making soup with all that weird stuff. I've already had Tom cut off your supply chain!"
"What? I'm doing this for whose sake, how can you..." Blair was stunned, then her voice became even sharper.
Daniel interrupted her, "You know perfectly well who it's for! Mother!"
Daniel's emphasis on the word "mother" was particularly heavy, strangely distant and sarcastic, with a warning tone.
Blair's face turned pale, and her breathing through the phone became heavier.
Before she could speak again, Daniel continued: "Stay out of our business from now on! And stop making trouble for Scarlett under the pretense of doing what's good for the child."
This warning was even more pointed.
With that, he hung up directly.
Blair clutched her phone, her wrist trembling with anger.
After hanging up, she tried to calm down. Jane quickly brought her water and advised.
"Mrs. Blair Wilson, please calm down. Actually, there's something I don't know if I should mention."
"What is it? Stop beating around the bush!"
"Actually, Mr. Daniel Wilson and Mrs. Scarlett Wilson always used contraception before."
"You mean there's something wrong with the baby in Scarlett's belly?" Blair's face changed as she sat up straight.
"I don't know about that, but Mr. Daniel Wilson and Mrs. Scarlett Wilson either used condoms or Mr. Daniel Wilson would have Mrs. Scarlett Wilson take birth control pills. That's for sure."
Blair's face immediately darkened. She knew it—if Scarlett was pregnant, why would she hide it and insist on going abroad?
Scarlett's first day at the dance company went surprisingly smoothly.
Besides her, there were five other lead performers in the dance production, all devoted to dance and easy to get along with.
Although Scarlett was the last to join, after a day of working together, they had already developed chemistry through their physical communication.
Scarlett hadn't had this experience in a long time. Being with like-minded people was always joyful.
Dancing made her temporarily forget all her troubles, so when she left the dance company in the afternoon, Scarlett felt every cell in her body was happy.
So when Ramon called to invite Scarlett to his house to see Mimi, Scarlett agreed immediately.
Ramon picked up Scarlett and brought her to his home.
Ramon had been living alone outside for the past two years. His apartment wasn't far from the hospital. At 2,100 square feet, it was quite luxurious for a single man.
"I wonder if Mimi still recognizes me."
Before entering, Scarlett said with a smile. After all, it had been almost ten years since she rescued the stray cat Mimi.
"She will."
Ramon opened the door and looked back, very certain.
Scarlett smiled, a bit expectant. But when she walked in, a fat, chubby cat jumped past her feet.
Scarlett was startled. Ramon was already smiling and bending down to pick up Mimi, who had pounced on his leg. "Mimi, why are you scaring our guest? No, no, this is your other owner. Take a good look and see if you recognize her."
Ramon held Mimi, his already gentle and handsome features looking even more tender.
Scarlett thought his mention of "other owner" was a bit strange.
But by then, Ramon had already held Mimi up in front of her, and she was completely drawn to the cat, staring into its eyes.
"Mimi, do you still recognize me? Can I pet you?"
Scarlett reached out to shake its paw, imitating a cat's meow.
She remembered that years ago, when she found the injured Mimi, this was how she called to it.
Scarlett was a bit nervous, but unexpectedly, Mimi moved its ears and softly, lazily meowed back at her twice.
"See, she recognizes you."
Scarlett looked up in delight. Ramon smiled and pushed Mimi forward.
Scarlett carefully took her. Mimi was indeed very well-behaved and even nuzzled into her arms.
"You play with her, I'll get you some water." Ramon said, walking toward the bar.
When he looked back, Scarlett had already gone to the sofa with Mimi, lowering her head to pet Mimi's head and talk to her.
Ramon's lips curved up. It was worth it—every day when he played with Mimi, he would mention Scarlett to her, day after day for ten years.
Scarlett stayed at Ramon's house for about half an hour before saying goodbye. After all, Ramon lived alone, so it wasn't convenient for her to stay long.
Ramon drove her back to her apartment building and waved goodbye with a smile.
Scarlett was about to go upstairs when suddenly two black-suited bodyguards emerged from a business van parked in the shadows.
Before Scarlett could react, the bodyguards rushed toward her, grabbed her shoulders, and shoved her into the car.
The car sped away.
Scarlett was shocked and tried to resist, but was pushed back into her seat by the bodyguard beside her, who also snatched her bag.
Forty minutes later, Scarlett was brought to the obstetrics department of a hospital, where she saw Blair.
One of the black-suited bodyguards stepped forward and showed Blair photos of Ramon dropping Scarlett off at home.
Blair's face turned cold, increasingly convinced that Jane's suspicions weren't unfounded.
"Take her in for examination."
Blair pointed at Scarlett, her voice sharp as she barked orders at the medical staff. A nurse immediately came forward to pull Scarlett.
Scarlett was slightly alarmed, frowning at Blair.
"What do you want to do?"
Blair snorted. "Why so nervous? Relax, it's just a normal prenatal checkup."
Scarlett didn't believe her.
"A normal prenatal checkup needs this kind of setup? Let go of me, I'm not going in!"
Scarlett struggled free from the nurse's grip.
Seeing this, Blair sneered. "Just an amniocentesis. Cooperate and there's no danger."
Blair gave the nurses a look, and Scarlett was immediately forcibly dragged inside and pressed onto the operating table.
The doctor came forward to prepare. Scarlett's face changed dramatically as she struggled.
"I won't do it! Amniocentesis isn't even a routine prenatal test. I don't want to do it, and you have no right to force me. Let me go!"
Perhaps because Scarlett was struggling and resisting so fiercely, or perhaps because Blair wanted to see the needle pierce Scarlett's belly with her own eyes to feel at ease.
Blair followed them in, frowning.
"I'm your husband's mother, I'm family. If I consent, this procedure can be done. Scarlett, you'd better cooperate with the doctor to avoid getting hurt.
So many pregnant women have had amniocentesis. Why can't you?
An orphan should accept her fate, but you've been spoiled by Daniel. How pretentious can you be!"
Scarlett lay pinned to the cold operating table. She couldn't move. Her clothes had already been lifted by the nurse, exposing her still-flat belly.
The doctor began applying disinfectant. Scarlett's eyes burned red as she glared at Blair.
"You're crazy! Amniocentesis is an invasive procedure, only done when there's an abnormality in prenatal tests.
My prenatal tests are all normal. Even if you want to do early testing to see if it matches Elliot, you have no right to treat me like this!
What if something happens to Bunny because of this? Let me go, I don't want the procedure! Daniel won't allow it either!"
Seeing Scarlett struggle so violently, Blair became even more convinced there was a problem.
Last time, Alice's baby had made Blair hope for nothing. She absolutely couldn't allow that to happen again.
Blair stepped forward and looked down at Scarlett, saying coldly: "Matching? Before that, you'd better pray this child is Daniel's!
Don't count on Daniel coming to save you either. He'll be dying to know if this child is his—even more than I do! Hurry up and do it!"
Blair stepped back, and the doctor immediately approached Scarlett with a long, thin needle.
At the same time, at the Star Group.
Tom burst through the office door.
"Boss, there's trouble!"
