Chapter 179 He Threatens Her
It was Theron.
He blocked Daniel's path, his tall figure cutting off the exit.
The displeasure in Daniel's eyes became more obvious. "This is between my wife and me. We'll discuss it when we get home. Move aside."
Daniel's presence was like a sword in the depths of winter—most people would instinctively avoid it.
But Theron didn't move, raising his eyebrows slightly.
"Since Mr. Daniel Wilson wants to discuss it, why not ask Mrs. Scarlett Wilson what she thinks right now? Why not give her a chance to speak?"
Daniel and Theron faced off, invisible cold light seeming to clash in the air between them—harmful yet intangible, neither yielding an inch.
Scarlett seized the opportunity to bite down on Daniel's palm and pushed him away forcefully.
Breathing slightly hard, she said, "I want to join the dance troupe!"
Daniel's handsome face turned cold as he looked at her. Suppressing his anger, he spoke in a gentle tone.
"You're pregnant. Don't be stubborn."
Daniel reached out to pull Scarlett toward him. "If you want to dance, you can do it at home occasionally. But joining the troupe—let's wait until Bunny is born, okay?"
As his hand moved to take Scarlett's, she suddenly stepped back, avoiding him.
She shook her head, her expression firm and distant.
"My life is my own decision. It has nothing to do with you!"
Scarlett clenched her fists, though her shoulders trembled slightly.
Openly confronting Daniel and contradicting him didn't bring the satisfaction she'd imagined.
Instead, there was a heavy feeling of breaking ties with years of emotion. Her face turned pale.
Daniel's eyes grew dark and cold. Clearly, he hadn't expected her to publicly defy him like this, not even maintaining the appearance of a proper marriage.
He seemed to freeze . He raised his hand toward her, a faint smile appearing at the corner of his lips, though it didn't reach his eyes.
His voice was warm, with a coaxing tone.
"Scarlett, be good. Come here on your own and go home with me. We can discuss the dance troupe matter calmly when we get back."
This was his compromise.
But Scarlett knew him too well. She could tell he was already angry.
He had already rejected her joining the dance troupe in his mind. Talk of discussion was just a tactic to get her home first.
She bit her tongue and didn't move.
Though Daniel wasn't her blood relative, after all these years, it was as if he had some kind of hold over her.
Pathetically, Scarlett's legs went weak, her heart wavering.
Her face turned pale. Not daring to look at him anymore, she turned her head away.
Just as cold sweat formed on her forehead and a chill went down her spine, a jacket was draped over her shoulders, bringing immediate warmth to her back.
It was Theron again.
Earlier, Sarah had taken Scarlett's jacket and given it to Bruce, who had brought water and a towel on stage for Scarlett, then passed it to Theron.
Theron had been carrying it on his arm.
He pulled the collar closed. "Put it on. Don't catch cold."
Scarlett was slightly stunned, instinctively holding the collar, then thanked him.
"Thank you."
Theron nodded, then turned to face Daniel.
By now, Daniel's handsome face was covered in frost, his eyes piercingly cold. He let out a harsh laugh.
"When did Mr. Howard become so familiar with my wife?"
Theron didn't mind Daniel's sharp edge, merely raising an eyebrow and smiling as he replied.
"Not familiar. To be completely honest with you, Mr. Wilson, including today, I've only met Mrs. Scarlett Wilson three times total. So you don't need to be so tense."
Daniel's expression eased slightly, then he heard Theron add casually, "Though all three times left a deep impression. The first time we met was about four or five years ago, wasn't it?"
Theron looked back at Scarlett, who instinctively nodded.
Daniel's right fist clenched as he stared at Scarlett. "Scarlett and Mr. Howard knew each other four years ago? Why didn't you tell me?"
Scarlett felt Daniel's gaze like an ice blade about to pierce her.
Her breath caught as she met his eyes, her lips parting slightly.
"Do you tell me about everyone you meet , everyone you're with?"
She'd known him for so many years, thinking she knew everything about him.
But what was the result?
Like a joke, she had to learn from Alice that he'd had a fiancée since childhood.
He blamed her for not telling him, but hadn't he hidden so much from her?
He'd gone to the hospital early to be with Waverly, and now he'd chased her here to stop her.
It was simply because he didn't want her joining the dance troupe, worried about the Wilson family child in her belly—the child that could save Elliot's life.
When had Daniel ever truly cared about what she wanted, whether she'd be happy?
Scarlett's heart ached unbearably. She clenched her jaw, her face stubbornly tense as she met Daniel's gaze.
Daniel was about to lose his temper with her!
He'd never known she had such a rebellious, stubborn side.
Daniel coldly looked away, worried that if he looked at her for one more second, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from pulling her into his arms and spanking her right there.
His gaze swept to Theron. "Three meetings—since you're not close, Mr. Howard you should stay out of my wife's business. Please move aside!"
Theron smiled faintly. "Not close now, but I'm sure we'll become familiar, since she's joining Howard Enterprises' dance troupe. There should be plenty of opportunities to work together and meet."
"Even if you do become familiar, some things aren't for Mr. Howard to overstep into. Surely Mr. Howard has that much sense?"
"Since she agreed, she's already part of the troupe. Mr. Wilson, if she's unwilling, I won't let anyone take away someone from my Howard Enterprises dance troupe!"
Daniel's handsome face darkened as Theron responded firmly.
The air around them seemed to thicken with tension.
Things had escalated to this point, and Scarlett felt somewhat uneasy.
Just then, Bruce also jumped down from the stage and walked over. He stood on Scarlett's other side, comforting her.
"Scarlett, don't worry, don't be nervous. What you want to do—even if he's your husband, he has no right to control you."
Scarlett turned her head and forced a smile at Bruce.
Daniel watched her standing behind Bruce and Theron, clearly opposing him, and laughed coldly.
"Mr. Howard, don't forget—the dance troupe's performance will be mainly held in Shadow City, and in Shadow City, I still have some say."
Daniel stopped just short of making a direct threat: without his permission, no matter how diligently Scarlett rehearsed, the dance production would never make it to the stage.
Scarlett suddenly looked up, her eyes glaring at Daniel with anger.
She hadn't expected him to be this ruthless.
To stop her, he would even use such methods.
Daniel met her with a cold, hard gaze and said firmly again, "Come here now!"
Scarlett's nails dug into her palms, the pain sharp.
Her breathing tightened, and she was about to step forward when Theron chuckled softly and shifted slightly, blocking her path.
"Mr. Wilson is too modest. I'm well aware of how much power Mr. Wilson has in Shadow City. Not just this dance production—if you wanted to permanently block Howard Enterprises' dance troupe from entering Shadow City, that would be just a word from you. But this dance production doesn't have to be performed in Shadow City."
Daniel didn't respond to Theron's provocative words. His gaze simply pierced through, still fixed on Scarlett.
Daniel understood Scarlett well. She wouldn't want to hold back the entire troupe because of herself alone.
Even more, Scarlett wouldn't want to owe Theron such a huge favor. Daniel waited for Scarlett to come to him.
