Chapter 161 Collided and Bled
"Come here!"
It wasn't until Daniel's cold, deep voice rang out that Scarlett was certain.
Did this count as him backing down?
As Scarlett thought about it, the anger and discomfort from moments ago actually faded away without any dignity.
Her heart felt sour, swollen, yet somehow sweet.
She walked over, reaching to pull the cigarette from Daniel's fingers.
"Daniel, this is a no-smoking area in the hospital. And you're injured—smoking isn't good for you!"
But Daniel raised his hand. "Pregnant women shouldn't be around smoke either!"
"Then why are you smoking!" Scarlett huffed lightly.
Daniel broke the cigarette butt and crushed it in his palm.
He walked a few steps to the trash can, tossed it in, then said coldly.
"You drove me to it!"
Scarlett walked up to him with her hands behind her back, tilted her head to look at him. "Daniel, were you just jealous?"
She held her breath, hope gleaming in her eyes.
Daniel's thin lips curved slightly. "Yes!"
He admitted it so decisively, so firmly.
In that instant, Scarlett's heart felt like it was flooded with brilliant golden light.
She couldn't suppress the smile spreading across her lips, her face flushing, her heart racing.
Daniel suddenly reached out and pulled Scarlett into his arms, looking down at her.
"You're my wife. When you're hugging and holding another man, shouldn't I, as your husband, be jealous?"
His tone gradually turned cold. "Scarlett, this is the last time!"
So it was only because she was his wife, not because of who she was as a person.
Scarlett hid her disappointment, nodded, but still explained.
"Daniel, I accidentally fell asleep just now and thought the person next to me was you."
But Daniel still felt angry thinking about that scene. He lifted Scarlett's chin.
"Do you like him?"
Scarlett froze, then shook her head frantically in shock.
"How could that be! There's nothing between Ramon and me, and I don't like him. How could Daniel think I like Ramon?"
Daniel laughed coldly. "Ramon has had his eye on you for years. He even dared to come to the Wilson family to discuss marriage. These past two years, instead of enjoying his privileged life, he's been working as a doctor at the Wilson family's private hospital, scheming to get close to you.
You two were kissing in the car before. You hid your pregnancy from me, desperately wanted a divorce, and planned to go abroad with Ramon. Just now you were snuggling into his arms. With all this, what am I supposed to think?"
Daniel's fingers tightened on Scarlett's chin, tilting her slender neck at an angle.
She stared dumbly at the angry Daniel, listening to everything he listed, and actually thought his suspicions made some sense.
She felt guilty. "When did I kiss Ramon?"
"Need me to remind you? In the car downstairs from Sarah's apartment."
Daniel sneered. That night he'd been hiding in the shadows and saw it.
Ramon leaned in and kissed Scarlett in the passenger seat, and she just sat there without pushing him away.
Though it was just a brief kiss, in that moment, Daniel was nearly consumed by jealous rage!
Daniel had wanted to kill Ramon!
At that time, he hadn't even properly kissed her himself. How dare Ramon?
Scarlett thought carefully and finally remembered something like that did happen. Later Daniel had pressed her against the dark stairwell, and she'd slapped him.
At the time, Scarlett thought Daniel was having an affair with Alice during their marriage. She was set on divorce and had been verbally humiliated by him, so she hadn't explained.
Now Scarlett didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "I didn't—that day the corner of my clothes got caught in the seatbelt buckle. Ramon was just helping me pull it free!"
Hearing Scarlett's explanation, the coldness and gloom in Daniel's eyes gradually dissipated.
But he still kept his handsome face tense. He suddenly tightened his arms.
"Mrs. Wilson, from now on, you can't like anyone except me!"
He could let go of whoever she'd loved before, no longer mind it.
But now she was carrying his child, and she'd decided to stay by his side.
He wouldn't allow her to have any other thoughts!
Scarlett thought his words sounded strange.
She loved him so much, her heart and eyes were full of him.
Her heart was so small, completely filled with him—how could she possibly like anyone else?
Of course there was no one but him.
But before she could think it through, the injured spot on her lower back suddenly flared with pain from his force.
Scarlett's face showed pain, and she let out a soft groan.
"What's wrong?" Daniel's expression changed.
Scarlett reached for her lower back. "I bumped into the corner of a table in the hospital room earlier."
Daniel's face suddenly changed, and he asked urgently.
"You bumped into something? Does it hurt badly? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere else? Why didn't you tell me earlier!"
He bent down and scooped Scarlett up, striding quickly toward the elevator.
Scarlett was startled by him. She said anxiously.
"Put me down! You're injured too. Who asked you to do this? The bump just hurts a little, it's not my stomach that hurts. I'm really fine!"
As for him, his wound was on his abdomen.
With this much force, it would be strange if his wound didn't tear open.
Back in the hospital room, Daniel's wound was indeed not good—blood had seeped through the bandage.
When the gauze was unwrapped, Scarlett finally saw his knife wound. Even with stitches, it was bloody and raw—such a long gash, who knows how much blood he'd lost.
Her eyes immediately welled up, her heart aching terribly.
"Mr. Wilson, your blood type is rare. You won't use the hospital's blood supply because you want to save it for people who need it more to save their lives. Then you need to be more careful yourself!"
Doctor Milan finished treating the wound, removed his gloves, and spoke sternly with a frown.
Scarlett nodded, looking at Daniel with the same reproach, but the next second the topic shifted to her.
"Mrs. Wilson needs to cooperate too. Though you two are young and in love, you must restrain yourselves from vigorous activity."
Scarlett didn't catch on at first and nodded, then realized something was wrong.
Vigorous activity?
Young and in love? Restrain?
Scarlett remembered that when Tom had opened the hospital room door earlier and caught her and Daniel kissing, it seemed to be Milan. Scarlett's face instantly turned bright red, and she kept shaking her head, but Milan was no longer looking at her.
Scarlett looked to Daniel for help, but he remained composed and even nodded to Milan.
"Understood."
After Milan left, Scarlett glared at Daniel in frustration.
"You're not allowed near me until you're discharged!"
Daniel looked at her flushed little face, his thin lips curving slightly.
"That won't work. Come here, let me look at your lower back."
Scarlett didn't move. "It's fine, it doesn't hurt anymore."
Her avoidance amused Daniel. What kind of lecher did she take him for?
He made as if to get out of bed to grab her, and Scarlett quickly stepped forward. "Don't move."
Daniel pulled her to sit on the edge of the bed with her back to him and lifted her shirt.
There was indeed a bruise on her right side. Daniel frowned.
"How is it this bad? I'll go get some ointment."
Scarlett quickly stopped him. "No need. I practice dancing every day—bumps and bruises are normal. Most ointments promote blood circulation, which isn't good for me with Bunny. Don't trouble yourself. In a couple days it'll..."
Before Scarlett could finish, she felt a warm, soft touch on the injured spot at her waist.
It was Daniel's kiss, gentle and tender, falling on her injury. As she realized this, a tingling sensation instantly spread along her spine through her whole body.
The flush that had just faded from Scarlett's face spread again.
The atmosphere grew intimate, but just then—
Like a recurring curse, the hospital room door was suddenly pushed open.
"Daniel, as soon as I got back I heard you were injured. I came to see you..."
With the voice at the door, Scarlett's face went pale. She yanked her clothes down and stood up abruptly.
But she got up too fast—Daniel wasn't prepared and his prominent nose was hit hard.
He let out a muffled grunt.
Scarlett turned around to see Daniel covering his nose with his hand, a trail of blood beneath his straight nose.
She'd actually made it bleed.
