Chapter 98 98
"Maybe you and Bee were never meant to be together." Jack added.
His words made Nathan feel as if he was stabbed in the chest. "Uncle, it's like suggesting that Liam was never meant to be." Nathan tried to make a point.
Jack sighed and shook his head. "I didn't say that and I didn't suggest it either. Liam is not a mistake. We love him so much and he brings joy and happiness to our lives. In fact, he is the major reason why Bee was able to move on. He was the reason that she smiled again. He was the reason she found a reason to continue going." Jack expresses.
"Uncle, I know I was wrong and I caused you pain. I will not get tired of apologizing to you all. I don't care how long it would take. But I need you to see that I am here to stay. I won't go anywhere or try to disappoint any of you again."
"I am here to be part of Liam's life and if Bee would let me, I want to make up for my mistakes. I want to do right by her. I will give her the treatment she deserves. But I can only do that if you let me. If I am given another chance." Nathan explained.
"I was blind and I only realized that when it was too late for me. I am sorry for that. But Liam is my son. I want to always be there for him. But you have to let me be the father that he needs. That can only happen if Bee and I try to work it out. I want to try and win her back. That way, Liam will have his family together as he deserves." Nathan pleaded.
Jack sucked in a breath. "That is not my decision to make, Nathan. It is all up to Bee. But I won't hide it from you, I am against that. You are back now saying you love my daughter? Words won't be enough to prove that. You have to show it. Work on it and prove it more than words of the mouth." Jack suggested.
"And I kept hearing Liam talking about Silverbrook. I am thinking you are the one putting that Idea in his head. Nathan, I have left Silverbrook with my family for good. I gave up everything for that. My family home, my career, just to see my daughter happy again." There was sadness in Jack's eyes.
"I know all about that uncle. I am sorry because I know I was the main reason for those decisions you made. But I am standing before you know saying, I can make it right. If you just let me." Nathan said.
"It is a bit too late for that now." Jack added.
"Not really, uncle. Brooke is a great doctor and so are you. From what I have learnt, the hospital relies on you both for heart surgery. That means you both can practice anywhere you go. I can make that happen back in Silverbrook. I could buy shares and we can turn it into a heart center that focuses on heart treatment." Nathan suggested.
"And as for your home, you still have a home in Silverbrook, uncle. The same family home and where Brooke grew up is in my name." He added.
"What?" Jack asked in confusion.
Nathan nodded in confirmation. "Yes, Uncle. After I learnt you left and sold the property, I bought it back from the new owner. I bought it with the hope that one day, you will decide to come back to Silverbrook with your family. And I will present the estate as my way of apologizing for what I have made you go through." Nathan explained.
"I know the estate has been your family home for generations. I knew it meant a lot to you and I didn't want that to change because of me. So, I bought it. I brought the deed with me today. I can show it to you. It's in my car." Nathan pointed out.
Silence stretched between them for some seconds. Jack looked so touched by Nathan's words. He then spoke. "I want to see it. The deed. Hi, I get it. I want to see it." He said with a shaky voice.
Nathan nodded and excused himself. He came out of the study and was met with Brooke on his way out.
"How did it go? Is everything alright?" She asked in a low voice, not wanting her father to hear them.
"I think so." Nathan said with a smile.
Brooke also gave him a smile.
"But we are not done yet. I have to get something from the car. I have a good feeling about this." He added, giving her a thumbs up before rushing to the car.
He was soon back to the study with the deed and showed it to Jack. He also showed him some pictures of the mansion he took.
Jack watched and watched over again. Gasping at some and when he looked at others, he became teary eyes.
"How did you do it? How were you able to convince the Phillips' to sell it back to you?" Jack asked.
"I offered to double the price and they agreed. But if they didn't, I was willing to go higher." Nathan explained.
Jack handed Nathan his phone back. The two remained quiet again for a few seconds before Nathan spoke again. "So it's about money. Do you think money is the answer to everything?"
"Of course not, Uncle." Nathan quickly said. He was surprised to hear Jack's remark.
"For one, I know that money can't give contentment. I was miserable for eight years because I couldn't be happy without Bee. But if I can carve the way to happiness for my family and myself, I wouldn't hesitate to make use of that." Nathan declared. He went on saying how he would do anything for Brooke and Liam's happiness without any hesitation.
Jack was quiet for sometime again, having his own private thoughts. He then said, "that still doesn't convince me of your sincerity towards Brooke."
"I will continue to prove my sincerity towards Bee." Nathan said with conviction in his voice.
