Chapter 90 90
"Why would anyone want to harm you? I know what I saw. I am sure he was targeting you. And I would like to know why." Nathan said in a serious tone.
"What are you talking about, Nathan? We can talk later. Now I have an operation to get done. The donated heart will arrive soon because they are transporting it by air from the next town. I came to make sure you are fine. I am glad you are but I have to go now." Brooke spoke in a hurry. "Can Liam stay with you tonight? I will come get him early tomorrow if that is ok."
"Of course." Nathan assured her.
"Thank you. I will order your discharge now. Then give you some medication that would help with the pain and inflammation." She explained.
Immediately, she quickly gave all necessary orders to the nurse in the emergency room.
"Doctor Bee needed in operating room two. Doctor Bee needed in operating room two." An announcement came through the hospital.
That was Brooke's cue to leave. She was about to go when she stopped midway. "Oh and Nathan, thank you for saving me." She added a smile before finally leaving the emergency room.
"Good luck, Bee." Nathan called after she disappeared. He hoped she heard him. But he was sure she was going to do great because that was all he had heard about her work.
Moments later, Nathan is standing talking to a man, his badge read 'Chief security.'
"Sir, I am sorry but we cannot do what you are asking of me. It has to go through the management before we can release any footage. They are not available now, but you can come in tomorrow." The chief security advised.
"You can't be serious. I have to wait till tomorrow? You couldn't apprehend the motorcyclist. Now I am trying to get more information from your footage and you are telling me I have to wait?" Nathan questioned.
"The man had the intention to hurt one of your doctors. You couldn't get him and now I am trying to do something about it, yet you are trying to hold me back." He then turned to one of the securities.
"You. You were there when it all happened. You saw how the motorcyclist was aiming at Doctor Bee. If I hadn't pulled her out of the way, it would have been her that got the hit." Nathan spoke facing the security guard that was at the parking lot when it all happened. The same one that went after the motorcyclist but they could not get him.
"Yes, he is right sir. The motorcyclists did it on purpose. But he was aiming for Doctor Bee. Luckily, this man was there. He pushed her out of the way and took the hit." The security guard reported.
Nathan couldn't help but wonder. What would have happened if the motorcyclist succeeded? Brooke was completely unaware of it coming at her. She wouldn't have been able to protect her head as Nathan did with his hand. Since he was aware of the hit coming at him.
He was glad he decided to push forth the dinner with Brooke. Even though she turned him down. 'What would have happened if she was all by herself?' he thought to himself.
It was obvious that the chief security was not going to give in. So Nathan decided to use another strategy. "If you don't cooperate now, then I would have to report to the police what happened here today. I will also go ahead and inform the media how this hospital's security is. Careless about their employees' protection."
"It's time for you to decide which way to follow. The easy way or the hard way. I will remind you though, I am not a man you want to mess with." Nathan added with a stern voice and standing his ground.
If it were in Silverbrook, he wouldn't have to go through a long process to get his way there. But this is a completely different city from his. He doesn't have any business there nor influence. So he has to use whatever he can to get the man to cooperate with him at that moment.
Nathan kept persisting until the chief security gave in. He agreed to look into the surveillance cameras together with Nathan. The three men walked into the security unit and began to go through the surveillance footage.
"This was definitely done on purpose." Nathan said as he watched.
They saw when the motorcyclist got there. He has been waiting for three hours there. Just sitting and waiting for Brooke to come out.
It was when Brooke came out and stood in the parking lot that the man started his bike. He then approached her at a full speed.
"He really was targeting Doctor Bee." One of the security men said.
"I knew it." Nathan exclaimed. "He has been waiting for at least three hours, just to ride straight at her. The question is why would he do that? Why would he wait for that long just for that? What could possibly be the reason for that man to want to hurt Bee?" He questioned after watching the footage.
The question Nathan is asking is not a question that the security men could give him any answers. The only two people he can get answers from, were Brooke and the motorcyclist.
Unfortunately, the motorcyclist got away. Now, he has to go back to Brooke and ask her about it. She might have a guess as to why someone would want to hurt her. That is if she finally believes that she was the target.
Nathan intended to make her believe it. Even if it means bringing her back to the surveillance footage to see for herself.
Now that Nathan knows someone is trying to hurt Brooke, he has to do something about that. Since the motorcyclist did not succeed, he might not just give up. He will try to hurt her again.
"I have to do something about this." Nathan concluded as he left the security unit.
