Chapter 45 45
Ryan remained quiet for some time. He looked into Nathan's eyes with different thoughts running in his mind. He however maintained a relaxed face.
"But why?.... Why now?" He asked. Trying to sound a bit normal.
"Please Ryan, help me find Bee." Nathan pleaded to his friend again. He was seated opposite him at the coffee shop.
"Realizing she is gone made me realize my mistakes. I want to try to make things right." Nathan explained. "Please help me find her."
"Do you have to, Nathan?" Ryan asked again.
"Why are you still asking? I have to. It is important I find her. I know that you advised me against divorcing her from the beginning. Now I realize how big my mistake was and I want to make it right by her and myself." Nathan explained.
Ryan didn't want to give Nathan any false hope. He tried as much as he could to turn Nathan down but Nathan kept insisting and pleading.
"Fine. I will try and help but I make no promises. It's not like our insurance covers the whole country. Besides, there is also another possibility. Doctor Richard might have left the country with his family." Ryan reasoned.
"I will give you a heads up though. I have had experience with dating different girls. To a reasonable extent, I understand some things. Women do a lot of crazy things for the sake of love. They will push and push. But don't get what they want in return from the relationship, they get tired of loving and give it all up. They don't look back. " Ryan advised.
"What if it is the same situation for Bee? What if she is tired of the one-sided love and she finally decided to let go and never look back? It could be the reason she kept her distance from you." Ryan continued. "Think about that. But I will try to find Doctor Richard as you wish."
Nathan listened to his friend's words. Ryan might have a point but that was not going to stop him. "I just need to clear things with Bee. I don't want to have more regrets for not trying. If I fail for the second time," Nathan gulped, hoping that was not going to happen. "then I will let her go."
"Thank you for your help, Ryan. I really appreciate your help." Nathan added. He looked a bit relaxed now. At the moment, he could definitely use some good news about the whereabouts of the Richards.
Days later
Nathan is seated in a courtroom with two lawyers sitting by his side. The court room is filled with people and on the other side, it's Georgina and her lawyer.
She looked disheveled and out of place.
"Keren Williams. Since you have changed your name legally, the court will address you as that." The judge spoke before the hearing began.
It has been months since Nathan found out the truth about Georgina. Finally, today the judge will pass his verdict on her case. The judge and the audience listened to arguments. from both the defense and the prosecution. Evidence was re-presented to the court.
After an hour and a half of listening to both sides, the judge finally came to a decision. From what had been presented in the court.
The judge looked at Nathan. He gave him a nod before turning to the audience. Georgina did not fail to miss the look that the judge and Nathan exchanged. It gave her a pang in the chest as if something was about to happen that she will definitely not like.
"The case of Silverbrook and Keren Williams. She has wasted too much of the police hours with her false claims against not one but multiple persons. For that, she is sentenced to six years without the possibility of parole." The judge stated.
Georgina's eyes grew wider. She already felt something bad was coming to her. But she didn't think it would be this big. She turned to her father, who is in the audience. All he could do was shake his head in defeat. There was not much he could do to save his daughter at that moment.
He was lucky to be released after he spent a month being locked up. That was because his offenses were not as serious as that of his daughter.
"You are also found guilty of fraud. For that, this great court gives you another sentence. You will serve six years without the possibility of parole." The judge spoke again.
"What!" Georgina screamed. That is something she didn't expect at all. She turned to Nathan and he was also looking her way. He had a menace smirk on his face as he nodded approvingly.
"This is not right. Twelve years? I did not kill anyone to deserve this kind of punishment. This is unacceptable." Georgina's voice echoes throughout the courtroom.
"You! You did this, didn't you." Georgina said, pointing at Nathan.
Nathan gave another nod. His smirk soon turned to a smile of satisfaction. He was enjoying the horror she had on her face. However, Georgina was right. Nathan is the one behind the sentence she got.
She has messed with his life in ways that he doesn't know how to get back at her to make him feel satisfied. That was why he resulted in using the power and wealth his family has to make sure she got what she deserved. He already felt she did get what she deserved.
"Miss Williams, you need to calm down. The judge is not happy with the behavior you are displaying. It might cause more damage than good at this moment." Georgina's defense attorney tried to advise her. But she refused to listen.
"Miss Williams, you are a scheming and dangerous woman. Your reaction shows how you are a threat to our community." The judge continued to speak. That made Georgina to quiet down and turn to face the judge.
"You have been disrespectful to my court and you displayed your violent nature. For that, you will be sent to Skull Island. The court is now adjourned." The judge ended the session without giving Georgina another chance to speak.
"No!" Georgina slides down from her chair. "No, father. Father, please do something. Help me. I can't be sent there for twelve years." She cried. "Not the skull island. This is injustice. I don't deserve this." She continued. The prison she was sent to is one that is meant for people with serious crimes. It is filled with people like murderers, human traffickers , drug dealers and rapists. But there she was, where her crime was trying to get Nathan's attention but she was put there.
"This is injustice. Nathan. Nathan." She called after Nathan, who was also about to leave the courtroom with his lawyers.
"I know you did this. I know you paired the judge for this. You can't get away with this. I will file a plea. This is so unfair." Georgina continued to scream.
"You brought this upon yourself, Georgie. You want to file an appeal?" Nathan chuckled lightly. "Good luck with that. I will make sure to make things worse if you dare. No matter where you go, you must suffer and pay the price for messing with my life." Nathan concluded and walked out of the room.
