Chapter 963 The Enemy of One’s Enemy Is a Friend

Chapter 963 The Enemy of One’s Enemy Is a Friend

Knowing how Susan's mind was going in circles, Randall asked, "Why didn't you think of Molly?"

"...If I told Molly, Vera would find out."

Randall said, "You really know those two well." Those two were always down for some drama.

Randall drove to the rental place. "You coming with me or staying here?"

"I'm going with Randall."

Randall snapped his fingers, and Susan grabbed her backpack and followed.

When they got to Erik's place, Randall told Susan to stay in the car. Susan looked confused. "Randall?"

"Stay."

Randall got out and knocked on the door. "Is Mrs. Brown home?"

A moment later, a woman came out and looked Randall up and down. "Who are you?"

Randall smiled.

---

Cindy's café.

Susan sat to the side sipping her coffee while Randall faced the woman on the couch across from him. "Poppy, I don't buy that you had no idea your husband's been cheating for years." Women weren't stupid. If even her daughter had been turning a blind eye to it, Poppy probably knew all along.

"Who are you? What do you mean by that?" Randall told her: I can help you. I can make sure Erik walks away with nothing.

"Poppy, that man you've been seeing on the side isn't bad either." Randall took a sip of his coffee. "But don't worry — the enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Poppy's grip on her purse suddenly tightened.

Susan's ears perked right up. Both of them were cheating?

---

"I overheard you consulting a lawyer about divorce. You don't have proof of Erik's affair, but Erik found proof of yours online. If you divorce, you'd walk away with nothing. So that night you fell apart — it was because you found out on that phone call that Erik was planning to swallow your family's company and then dump you. Am I right?"

"Who exactly are you?" Poppy asked.

Randall's expression was cold. "Someone who's here to help you."

"He messed with my girlfriend. That made it my problem."

Poppy turned and looked at the young girl who looked like a student, then back at Randall. "How are you going to help me?"

"I have evidence that he's dirty, and I can also destroy the evidence he has against you. Poppy, being used, deceived, and having everything taken from you by someone heartless — you must hate him. Let me give you a gift: I'll put him behind bars."

Poppy glanced at Susan. Susan straightened up nervously. She'd thought Randall was just going to make Erik walk away with nothing — simple as that. She hadn't expected jail. Even she was a little scared.

Randall stood up. "Think it over and contact me. Either you walk away with nothing, or he does."

He took his girlfriend's wrist and started to leave.

"Wait."

Poppy stopped him. "What do you want out of this?"

Randall said, "Nothing."

Poppy stood up. "Give me the evidence."

"Within 3 days, I want to see him arrested. Within 5 days, I want the divorce confirmed." Randall put his arm around Susan's shoulders — he was keeping something back. "I'll show you all the evidence first, but I'll only hand over the part about him sexually assaulting a minor. Three days later, I'll give you the evidence of his affair."

"But what about me—"

"Don't worry. I'll destroy the footage that could hurt you right in front of you." With that, Randall kept his arm around Susan and walked out.

Poppy sat in the café. A moment later, an email appeared on her phone.

She opened it and read through everything — sure enough, it was all evidence of her husband's affairs. A minute later, the email disappeared on its own. Then another video came through.

Poppy looked out the window and met Randall's eyes.

Randall had his laptop resting on his legs. He set it on the girl in the passenger seat, rolled up the window, and drove away.

"Randall, what were you doing yesterday?" Susan asked.

"Finding evidence to prove I'm innocent." He glanced at his girlfriend. "Your boyfriend isn't so useless that he'd run to his family over something this small."

Susan pouted. "You didn't tell me anything. I actually thought you were going to jail."

"You've seen Vera get into how many fights. You ever see her go to jail?"

"But Molly has backup — her husband always has to go bail her out."

Randall said, "That's because everything she does, someone else started it first. Susan, from now on, call me before you do anything."

Susan nodded and looked at the code on the laptop screen. "Randall, what's this?"

"Code."

"I can't understand it."

"It'd be weird if you could."

Susan quietly shut her mouth. "Randall, where are we going?"

"The mall."

"What for?"

"To get Teddy a birthday present. His first birthday party is the day after tomorrow!"

Susan suddenly remembered — she still hadn't taken care of the actual thing.

---

Noah was back in the country, but wherever his sister was, he wasn't — and wherever he was, she wasn't.

Though mostly it was Noah doing the running.

"Hey Patrick, where's Vera?"

"Teddy's in my office. Vera's not here."

"Patrick, I love you." Noah rushed straight to the office and scooped up his nephew for a big kiss.

You can dodge it for a while, but not forever.

On the day of Theodore's first birthday, everyone gathered at Cloudwing Hotel.

---

When Marigold heard it was Teddy's birthday, Scott had barely started — "Marigold, come with me to celebrate our godson's—"

"Yes! What day? I'll take time off." She'd already bought the gift.

The other four didn't have their "godmother's" hand to hold, but their hands weren't empty either.

The Chase family couple and the grandparents came too. "Teddy, come let grandma hold you." Ellie held the little one, absolutely overjoyed.

Randall and Susan arrived together. When uncle and nephew laid eyes on each other, the temperature in the room dropped.

Vera nudged her husband in the side, and Patrick reined in the cold air, turning away with a huff, refusing to acknowledge him.

"Teddy, let me hold you."

"Little dumpling, give uncle a kiss." Noah finally showed up.

Vera spotted her little brother. She balled up her fist. "Noah!"

In the private room, Noah ran ahead while Vera chased him down in heels without missing a beat. Finally Warren stepped in, grabbed his son and handed him straight to his daughter. "Dad — Vera — ow — Vera — that hurts — Vera — I was wrong — Vera — come on — Vera — you can't just — Patrick, help me!"

On his birthday, Teddy watched the whole show with pure delight, his little bottom wiggling with excitement as he tried to get closer.

Shawn cheerfully greeted the guests. "Don't be alarmed, everyone — my Vera is usually very 'gentle.' She's just a little too excited today, it being such a happy occasion and all."
