Declan's POV.

I was halfway through a meeting when my phone buzzed twice on my desk and I looked down to see that it was Isabella. It was unlike her calling during meeting hours, especially when she knew I would be extremely busy for that day.

It was then it dawned on me that it might be very urgent and I wasn't taking any more chances when it comes to her. I was quite protective and possessive at the same time.

I quickly grabbed my phone and picked up the call.

“Hello Baby” I said.

“Declan” she called out my name. Mia and Levi know about Cairo's arrest. They are moving extremely fast and if they wipe that evidence, oh my gosh. Right now I am so confused and I don't even know what to think.”

“Can you just calm down? I don't want you stressing okay. You are still recovering from your surgery and I assure you that they won't be able to tamper with the evidence.” I said, standing up to my feet as I walked out of the boardroom. My mind wasn't there anymore and the meetings could wait afterall.

“Where are they right now? Do you have any idea?” 

“Yeah. I hired a new detective, his name is Lucas and I had him check and he said Levi is already at the offshore server location. Mia is with him and if we don't move tonight_”

“They are going to erase every trace they used to tamper with your name” I interrupted, finishing the statement for her as she was quiet for a moment, then she finally spoke up again.

“This is the last piece holding over me Declan. If it is gone then I don't know what else will happen”

“I know Baby” I replied as I ran a hand through my hair. This wasn't just about revenge or business anymore. It was about making sure no one ever had the power to drag her through hell again.

I was already downstairs and I headed straight for my car. I had to take a step before things got worse and too late.

“We will hit them before they finish. But we need hard evidence in our hands before we go to the police.”

“And what if they try to destroy your company in the process?” she asked and I smirked at her questions.

“Then we have to make sure they fail spectacularly.”

By the time I got home. Isabella had the study room ready, her laptop was open with maps and digital blue prints spread across the table.

She raised her head up as soon as she sensed my presence and she had that fire I loved so much in her eyes again.

“If we intercept Levi's file before it's fully deleted. We will have proof that they orchestrated the smear campaign.”

“And what is your contact?

“Already on site, but Levi brought extra security. We will need to distract them.” she said and I studied her face.

“That is risky.” I said.

“I have done risky things before.” she shot back and I smiled at her.

“Yeah, but this time you are not doing it alone.” 

We split the plan into two moves while Isabella's contact worked on the server extraction. Then I would go ahead and deceive Levi and Mia into focusing on an attack on my company. The one they believe would collapse our stock.

Our step one was we were going to make them think we left a backdoor open. And step two, we are going to lock them in that false trail until it is too late for them to escape anymore.

At exactly 9:15pm the trap was set and Levi took the front roll faster than I had expected. But nevertheless I would have known that his ego was always his weakness.

My IT team sent me updates in real time as he hammered at our fake access point. Mia's part was messier because she wasn't the hacker type.

She preferred to whisper poison as words into people's ears. So while Levi chased my fake network hole, she made calls to try and scare off my investors or should I say more like instilling doubts in their heads.

I stayed calm because she thought she was smart but I was the smartest if there was ever to be a competition between us.

Every call she made I recorded it and every email she sent I traced it. And by the end of the night, we had more than enough to bury her legally.

But my focus stayed on the timer running in my head. Isabella's contact had thirty minutes to pull the data before Levi wiped it off completely.

Twenty seven minutes later, Isabella's phone lit up after I had to wait for so long.

“They got it, Declan. They actually got it” she whispered and I could hear the relief under her breath as I closed my eyes for a second, letting the tension bleed out.

“Baby the evidence should be sent to my secure drive. Then send a copy to Lucas and no one touches it after that” I said and she did exactly as I said. And I watched her fingers flying over the keyboard.

I watched her slowly with that stubborn determination of hers that was plastered on every corner of her face. God, I admired her so much.

But the night wasn't over yet, because Levi must have realized something was wrong because his activity froze and Mia's calls had been stopped.

“They know already.” Isabella said as she smiled at me and I smiled back at her.

“Then let's finish this.” I replied back with determination.

An hour later, we stood outside Levi's penthouse with two detectives. I had made sure the evidence was triple verified before calling them in, because I wanted no mistakes and no loopholes.

Levi opened the door of his house and to me his face looked like he hadn't slept in days. Mia was behind him as she folded her arms across her chest.

“Declan it is such a surprise to see you at my door, especially when we aren't friends. What do I owe you?” he said and I frowned my face at him.

“Just cut it there Levi. You are of no use to me” I cut him off as I turned to my side. “Detectives, you can come in now.” I urged and they came out of their hiding place and stepped forward as they raised their badges up.

“Levi and Mia Genovese. You are both under arrest for conspiracy to commit corporate sabotage and defamation.” one of the detectives said and Mia's eyes widened, and for the first time since I have known her.

She didn't have a smart reply ready to defend herself and as for Levi his expression was too stunned to speak. Maybe he believed he wouldn't be caught.

“Do you think that this is enough to arrest us?” Levi spat and I stepped closer to him.

“Allow me to burst your bubbles Levi. It is more than enough, what we have in hand is enough evidence. It is more than enough. And probably when you are done with rotting in courtrooms and jail, maybe you will finally understand what it means to lose everything.” I said as the detectives instantly handcuffed them as Mia glared at me dangerously.

“You will regret this Declan. You and that wife of yours called Isabella,  Mia said as anger swooshed through her but I coldly smiled at her.

“I won't regret any fucking thing Mia. Because you deserve everything you have gotten and even more, and do you want to know what? Me and Isabella will sleep like babies tonight because at last we have peace in our lives.” I said as the detectives dragged them away then Isabella's call came in immediately.

“Hi baby. I just want to tell you that finally everything is over.” I said.

“You kept your promise to me Declan. Finally you helped me to punish the people who wronged me, Cairo, Levi, and Mia. And that is what a man who loves a woman so much does. I love you so much my hero” she expressed and I felt so much love consuming my body.

“I love you too and I will love you forever.” I replied as I finally let myself breathe out loudly.
