Chapter 85 Return Tenfold or Hundredfold
Holding Sophia in his arms, Benjamin finally felt like his empty heart was being filled.
"I missed you too!" Sophia stood on tiptoe and, under the gaze of everyone around them, kissed Benjamin on the chin.
Benjamin's body stiffened for a moment, his deep eyes darkening slightly.
"Could you two tone it down a bit?" Alaric, who had witnessed the public display of affection, rubbed his forehead helplessly.
Alaric had never imagined that his usually aloof and indifferent friend Benjamin would become so open one day.
It was simply unbearable to watch!
"You can always look the other way," Benjamin shot Alaric a cold glare, his tone full of disdain.
"Whatever, you're hopeless." Alaric sighed, resignedly opening the back door of the car and getting inside.
Sophia and Benjamin exchanged a glance and couldn't help but laugh.
They were indeed a bit too intimate for a public setting.
But Sophia liked it.
She loved being close to Benjamin and enjoyed being playful with him.
"How's the situation? Did you find anything?" Once inside the car, Alaric asked in a serious tone.
"We found quite a bit," Benjamin's face darkened, his eyes narrowing with a hidden coldness.
"What's the plan?" Alaric pressed on.
"For now, we wait. I want to see what their endgame is." Benjamin's voice was low and icy, like a chilling frost.
Alaric pondered for a moment before slowly nodding.
It was the best course of action for now.
They still hadn't identified who was behind everything, so holding off was the safest strategy.
Alaric took out his phone, idly scrolling through the latest news.
As he opened Facebook, his eyes suddenly froze. "Sophia, you're being attacked online again."
Sophia turned her head in confusion, looking at Alaric.
Alaric handed his phone over, saying, "A media account posted a clipped video, and now a lot of people are criticizing you online."
Sophia took the phone and began to scroll through the posts.
Benjamin glanced over, his face instantly darkening. "Looks like the Brown family isn't giving up."
Sophia's eyes were fixed on the Facebook hashtags displayed on the screen.
#Isabella Is So Pitiful#
#Isabella's Sister In Love With Her Fiancé#
#Truth Behind The Water Incident#
The water incident had been losing traction online, but this afternoon a media account released a video.
In the video, Isabella tearfully accused Sophia of being interested in her fiancé, even claiming that Sophia had run away from home and was being kept by someone.
The video was clearly edited, with Sophia's rebuttal completely cut out.
All people saw was Isabella's teary, pitiful face and Zander's cold, disgusted look towards Sophia.
After watching the video, uninformed netizens switched sides, sympathizing with Isabella.
All the insults were directed solely at Sophia.
[I thought Isabella's fans was too far before, but now it seems Isabella is really suffering!]
[Sophia is so despicable, trying to seduce her sister's fiancé!]
[Being kept by a man in his forties, she can't be a decent woman. She must be doing anything for money!]
[She's so vicious. Poor Isabella, having to endure all this alone.]
[Sophia should be glad she's not in showbiz, or she'd be getting roasted even worse.]
Sophia leaned back in the passenger seat, her fingers lightly scrolling through the comments online.
Her long, curled eyelashes hid the true emotions in her eyes.
The car was silent, with Benjamin and Alaric's attention focused entirely on Sophia.
Benjamin glanced at her and softly reassured her, "Sophia, those people online are just talking nonsense. Don't let it get to you."
"Yeah, they don't know the truth. Don't take their words to heart," Alaric quickly agreed.
Sophia slowly raised her eyes, her clear gaze revealing no particular emotion.
She smiled slightly, indifferent, "I don't care. They're only attacking me because they don't know the truth."
Sophia laughed and handed the phone back to Alaric.
Alaric hesitated as he took the phone, "Sophia, are you really not bothered?"
Though Sophia had exceptional medical talent, she was still just a twenty-year-old girl.
At this age, she should be cherished by her family, like a delicate flower in a greenhouse, untouched by hardship.
Most girls would hide away and cry or angrily vent their frustrations in such situations.
But Sophia was too calm, as if she didn't care about her reputation at all.
Sophia shrugged nonchalantly and smiled at Alaric, "If someone wrongs me, I'll repay them tenfold."
She wasn't a saint, and she wouldn't kindly tolerate all evil.
Benjamin turned his head, his gaze lingering on Sophia's face for a long time.
Seeing that she truly wasn't sad or upset, he felt relieved.
His long fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel, producing a crisp sound.
His deep voice carried a chilling undertone, "Tomorrow is Isabella and the Stewart family's engagement party."
Sophia and Benjamin exchanged a knowing smile, understanding each other's intentions.
"You really plan to attend the engagement party tomorrow?" Alaric asked with a frown.
Benjamin replied lazily, his tone icy, "Sophia, do whatever you want tomorrow. Don't hold back, I've got your back."
A warm feeling spread through Sophia's heart.
Benjamin not only guessed her intentions but firmly stood by her side.
Sophia's eyes curved into a smile, "You're the best, honey! I love you so much!"
Sophia hadn't wanted any more entanglements with the Brown family, but Isabella wouldn't let her go.
She could ignore the Brown family's insults and schemes.
But now that she had severed ties with them, Isabella still wouldn't give up.
Now, Isabella had even paid a media account to post a carefully edited video, trying to ruin her reputation.
Sophia didn't care about her own reputation, but she was now Benjamin's wife.
Her reputation also affected the White family and Benjamin.
Tomorrow, she would show Isabella that some people shouldn't be provoked.
Or else... they would pay a heavy price.
Sophia's eyes flashed with a cold gleam.
Alaric didn't fully understand the feud between Sophia and Isabella, but he knew this matter couldn't be easily settled.
