Chapter 84 He Was Married
Alaric asked nervously, "Have you told Benjamin about this?"
"No." Sophia gave a bitter smile.
Ben had just started showing signs of wanting to live; how could she crush that herself?
Alaric thought for a moment before speaking slowly, "I'll take care of it. You just focus on your experiments."
With that, Alaric left the lab without looking back.
Sophia lowered her eyes, feeling a chill in her heart.
She was now certain that the samples had been tampered with.
There was also an unknown danger lurking around Ben.
Steven was puzzled, not knowing what was going on.
He scratched his head and whispered to Sophia, "Where did Alaric go? Are you guys hiding something from us?"
Aurora and Hannah, overhearing, couldn't help but look over.
One looked worried, the other had a complicated expression.
Sophia smiled faintly and shook her head, not immediately answering Steven's question. Instead, she asked, "Do you all have keys to the lab?"
"Yeah, we do. Just us."
Sophia nodded in understanding and gave Steven a grateful smile. "Thanks, Steven. You can get back to work. I need to double-check some data."
Steven didn't think much of it and returned to his station with a smile.
After Steven left, Sophia took out all the previous experiment data from the cabinet and began comparing them one by one.
In the afternoon, Alaric finally returned to the lab after being gone for a long time.
His usually gentle face was now dark and somber, looking quite intimidating.
Hannah's eyes lit up when she saw him return.
But noticing his expression, she quickly lowered her raised foot. "Alaric, what happened? Why do you look so upset?"
"Nothing, just dealt with some things." Alaric took a deep breath and walked over to Sophia's side.
Sophia was so engrossed in comparing data that she didn't notice someone standing behind her.
It wasn't until she turned to write something on the board that she almost bumped into him.
"Alaric? You're back?"
Alaric nodded and lowered his voice, "I've told Benjamin about this. Just focus on your experiments and don't worry about anything else."
"Okay." Sophia knew this matter involved the White Family, something she shouldn't get involved in.
"Benjamin specifically asked me to make sure you don't overwork yourself these next few days," Alaric said, giving Sophia a meaningful look.
Sophia's cheeks flushed slightly. "Thanks, Alaric."
Alaric smiled and turned to leave.
At the White Group, Benjamin sat at his desk, lazily leaning back in his chair.
His long, slender fingers tapped rhythmically on the desk, creating a crisp sound.
In the eerily quiet office, the sound seemed to beat against one's heart.
Chase stood rigidly in front of the desk, a layer of cold sweat forming on his forehead.
Benjamin was terrifying when he was silent!
He couldn't take it!
After a long while, Chase finally couldn't help but ask, "Mr. White, what do you plan to do next?"
Benjamin chuckled, a deep, cello-like sound that was both soothing and chilling.
Chase felt a shiver run through him.
"I never realized I had so many people with bad intentions around me." Benjamin snapped.
Chase lowered his head even more. He hadn't expected the constant lurking danger either.
That morning, Benjamin had suddenly asked him to investigate everyone in the White Family.
Chase, being cautious, also looked into those who frequently interacted with Benjamin at the company. The findings were shocking.
To uncover these details, Chase had used every resource available. And it turned out there were indeed many issues.
Among the thirty-some servants at the White Manor, five had forged identities.
Two chefs had recently received large sums of money in their accounts. The company was no better.
While many employees' basic information was accurate, a deeper look revealed numerous problems.
"Mr. White, how do you plan to deal with these people?" Chase asked curiously.
"For now, we'll do nothing. Get some micro surveillance cameras and install them in the meeting room and my office. If they're after me, they'll slip up eventually."
Chase quickly agreed.
"As for the White Manor, place a few capable people there to secretly observe those individuals. I want to see what they're planning."
Benjamin looked down at the thick stack of documents on his desk, a cold smile forming on his lips.
Chase shivered and silently prayed for those people. Messing with Benjamin was a death wish!
In the evening, Sophia and Alaric left the lab together.
Benjamin's car was already waiting in front of Stellar University.
The black, extended luxury car parked by the roadside drew many curious glances. Some even dared to approach and take photos.
Sophia and Alaric exchanged a helpless look.
At that moment, the car door opened from the inside, and Benjamin stepped out, his eyes fixed on Sophia, a slight smile on his lips.
Benjamin's already striking features seemed even more handsome when he smiled, like ice melting into a gentle warmth.
Passersby couldn't help but gasp in awe. Some girls even screamed, wanting to ask for his contact information.
"Hey, handsome, can we get your..."
But before they could finish, a clear, pleasant voice interrupted, "Sorry, he's married."
The women turned to see Sophia, their eyes widening in surprise.
Realizing what she meant by "he's married," they quickly apologized, "We're so sorry, we didn't know..."
"It's okay. My husband is popular, but he's mine, so you don't have a chance," Sophia said with a playful smile, her delicate face glowing.
The girls blushed instantly. Sophia was stunning! And her voice was so sweet!
Benjamin looked up to see Sophia running towards him. He instinctively opened his arms and caught her in a hug. "Why are you out so early today?"
"I was just organizing the data, no more experiments for now," Sophia explained with a smile.
She buried her face in Benjamin's warm chest, rubbing gently. "Honey, it's been so long. Did you miss me?"
She looked up at him with hopeful eyes.
Benjamin chuckled, ruffling her hair. "Yes, I missed you a lot."
Without Sophia by his side, something always felt missing.
