Chapter 79 Won't Drop You
"Flynn, did Sophia say she'd help clear my name?" Isabella rushed forward, her voice full of hope.
Flynn shook his head slowly, his eyes downcast, looking a bit dejected.
"What? She refused?" Isabella shouted, her voice rising sharply.
Flynn gave Isabella a suspicious look.
In his memory, Isabella had always been gentle, well-behaved, and fragile. She had never shown such shock and agitation before.
Realizing her outburst, Isabella quickly adjusted her expression, looking as if she was about to cry. "I'm sorry, I was just so surprised. I thought if you asked, Sophia would definitely agree, since she always wanted to talk to you more..."
Isabella trailed off, her face showing a perfect mix of grievance, as if something very important had been taken from her. Yet, inside, she was thrilled.
Flynn despised Sophia. As long as Isabella hinted that Sophia wanted to get close to him, Flynn would react like an enraged lion, his hatred for Sophia deepening.
"You said Sophia used to want to talk to me?" Flynn suddenly looked up, staring intently at Isabella.
Isabella's mind went blank for a moment, unable to react.
In this situation, shouldn't Flynn be showing disgust and immediately distancing himself from Sophia, vowing never to interact with her again?
Why was Flynn not showing disgust this time and even asking about Sophia?
"Isabella, answer me!" Flynn demanded, frowning as he pressed her, "What did you mean by that? Did Sophia often mention me?"
Isabella didn't understand Flynn's reaction but nodded anyway. "Sophia always thought I took away our parents and brothers. I don't blame her!"
Isabella lowered her head, wiping tears from the corners of her eyes.
Flynn's expression grew complex. He felt dizzy and his legs weak. "Isabella, you should rest. I have something to take care of."
With that, Flynn quickly turned and left.
Isabella watched Flynn's retreating back, confused. Why was Flynn acting so strangely today? Why did he keep talking about Sophia?
After leaving Isabella's room, Flynn went straight to the storage room next door.
This was where Sophia had lived. The room Isabella now occupied was Sophia's before she went missing.
After Sophia was brought back, the family pampered Isabella so much that they couldn't bear to move her out of the room. So, Sophia ended up in the storage room.
Flynn was shocked when he entered the storage room. It was small and shabby, about the size of his bathroom.
There was almost nothing in the room except a simple single wooden bed, a plain small wardrobe, and a small desk.
If Flynn remembered correctly, even the Brown Family's servants had better rooms.
Flynn couldn't believe his eyes.
After Sophia returned to the Brown Villa, everyone assumed she would covet Isabella's place and things, so they all treated her harshly.
But the Brown Family had never given Sophia anything.
How desperate must she have been to decisively cut ties with the family? Flynn couldn't even imagine.
Isabella wanted to ask Flynn what had happened that afternoon, but Flynn had vanished.
Frustrated, she stomped her foot and grabbed a nearby servant. "Do you know where Flynn went?" she demanded.
The servant hesitated before pointing to Flynn's room. "Mr. Brown went to his room and hasn't come out since."
Isabella frowned and hurriedly knocked on the door. "Flynn, are you in there?"
There was no response. She instinctively tried to turn the doorknob, but it was locked. Staring at the closed door, Isabella suddenly had a bad feeling.
At the White Manor, Benjamin had just returned home when Emma reported Flynn's visit to Sophia.
Benjamin frowned. "Flynn came alone? What did they talk about?"
Emma's face showed anger. "The Brown Family is shameless. Mrs. White must have suffered a lot there!"
Benjamin's lips pressed into a thin line as he silently headed upstairs.
Sophia was at her desk, typing rapidly, lines of code flashing across the screen. Her fingers moved so fast they were a blur. She was focused on the screen, but when she heard footsteps outside, she quickly closed the laptop and looked towards the door.
Seeing Benjamin enter, Sophia's face lit up with a bright smile. "Hey, you're back from work?"
She stood up and ran to Benjamin. He paused, instinctively opening his arms to catch her and carried her into the bedroom.
Sophia blushed as Benjamin held her like a child. She wrapped her arms around his neck to avoid falling.
Sensing her tension, Benjamin gently patted her back. "Don't worry, I won't drop you."
Sophia thought she heard a hint of amusement in his deep voice. Blushing, she pouted and ignored his teasing.
Once Benjamin set her down on the couch, Sophia looked up at him.
"Did I scare you?" Benjamin asked.
"Not at all!" Sophia huffed, turning her head away.
"Still so quick to get upset?" Benjamin teased, ruffling her hair gently. "Don't be mad."
"I'm not mad," Sophia mumbled. She was just startled by his sudden move, almost throwing a punch. Luckily, she held back in time.
"Did Flynn come to see you today?" Benjamin asked quietly.
"Yeah."
"Was it about Isabella? Did he want you to help her?" Benjamin's posture was straight, his eyes dark and unreadable, exuding a chilling aura.
"Sort of, but I didn't agree. I've cut ties with the Brown Family. I have no obligation to help them."
