Chapter 78 How Do You Know I Haven't Said It
Who would've guessed the Brown family would still find a way to milk the situation?
Sophia wondered if she'd ever get her payback.
Flynn's face darkened as he suddenly remembered the broken phone.
"Sophia, why didn't you tell me about this sooner?" He looked at Sophia, guilt written all over his face.
He had no idea Sophia was treated worse than a servant at the Brown Villa.
If only she had said something...
Sophia couldn't help but double over with laughter, like she'd just heard the world's funniest joke.
Her clear, melodic laughter echoed in Flynn's ears, but it made his heart sink. "Flynn, you're so naive. How do you know I didn't say anything?"
After she had laughed enough, Sophia's face turned serious. She looked at Flynn with narrowed eyes, not blinking once.
Flynn felt a wave of guilt under her gaze, like something had exploded in his mind.
He stood up in a panic and bolted from the White Manor, not daring to look back at Sophia.
Her eyes, clear as spring water, seemed to see right through him, exposing all his dirt and shame.
Watching Flynn flee, Sophia couldn't help but laugh again.
It wasn't that she never mentioned her suffering, but any sign of grievance would be met with ridicule.
The Browns always assumed she was after Isabella's things.
Over time, she just stopped speaking up.
Recalling the past, Sophia took a deep breath, feeling an inexplicable sadness.
When she found out her parents were still alive, she was overjoyed and wanted to tell Robert immediately.
But later, she realized her biological parents didn't seem too eager to have her back.
Her brothers had found a new favorite.
Whenever Sophia appeared near that girl, even just a little, people assumed she had bad intentions.
They treated her like a thief, convinced she was a scheming, despicable person.
She didn't even have a chance to defend herself.
"Mrs. White, are you okay?" Emma had walked over to the couch without Sophia noticing.
She looked at Sophia, her eyes full of concern.
Sophia snapped out of her thoughts and smiled, shaking her head.
Seeing the care in Emma's eyes, Sophia reassured her with a smile, "Thanks, Emma. I'm fine."
Emma frowned, sighed helplessly, and said, "Mrs. White, the Brown family is so shameless. After treating you like that, they still have the nerve to ask for your help!"
"Some people only believe what they want to believe. They don't care about the truth." Sophia's eyes narrowed slightly, her lips curling into a cold smile.
The Browns were always self-righteous, especially Flynn.
Of the three Brown brothers, Flynn doted on Isabella the most.
He was also the one who insulted and ridiculed Sophia the most.
She wondered if Flynn could keep fooling himself once the truth came out.
She eagerly anticipated Flynn's next move.
Emma looked at Sophia with pity, as if she were a poor, unloved soul.
"Mrs. White, would you like some dessert? I've heard sweets can lift your spirits," Emma said, worried that Flynn's visit had upset Sophia.
Though her words were bold, she mustered the courage to speak them.
"Sure. Thanks, Emma." Sophia smiled at Emma, her eyes twinkling like stars, bright and dazzling.
She looked so sweet and soft.
Emma lowered her gaze and headed to the kitchen.
Soon, she returned with a small cake from the fridge.
Meanwhile, Flynn had fled the White Manor in a daze, wandering aimlessly along the roadside.
Sophia's final words echoed in his mind. "How do you know I didn't say anything?"
Flynn slowly crouched down, wrapping his arms tightly around his head, burying his face in his knees.
Regret and guilt surged like a tide, overwhelming his mind.
Yes, he remembered.
Sophia had indeed mentioned needing a change of clothes.
It was on her third day back home.
That day, he had been dragged to the mall by Isabella.
Isabella loved all kinds of beautiful, delicate dresses and jewelry. If she saw something she liked, she had to have it.
That day, he bought Isabella over a dozen dresses, several sets of diamond jewelry, and many shoes and purses.
When they returned home, he ran into Sophia.
Sophia's eyes were fixed on the shopping bags in his hands, a look of anticipation in her eyes.
Back then, Sophia still held out some hope for family affection.
But what did he do?
He hid the shopping bags behind him and glared at Sophia, warning her, "These are all for Isabella. Don't even think about it!"
Sophia looked up, her clear eyes trembling slightly, and said softly, "Flynn, I don't have any clothes to change into. Could you..."
"No way! Bringing you back to the Brown family is already more than enough. Everything in the Brown family is for Isabella. Don't you dare touch anything!" With that, he walked away without looking back.
Flynn had never realized how much those words hurt Sophia, who had just been brought home.
Suddenly remembering something, Flynn stood up and ran towards the Brown Villa.
Back at the Brown Villa, after Flynn left, Isabella hurried to the bathroom.
Standing in front of the mirror, looking at her pale face, she couldn't help but laugh.
Her makeup skills were indeed excellent, almost undetectable.
Isabella carefully examined her face, which looked both fragile and sorrowful, and frowned.
It still wasn't pitiful enough.
To achieve a better effect, Isabella quickly took out an eyebrow pencil from the drawer and redrew her eyebrows.
When she frowned slightly, she looked even more sorrowful, evoking pity.
Satisfied with her reflection, Isabella smiled.
The next second, Flynn's voice came from outside. "Isabella, are you in the bathroom?"
Isabella was startled, nearly dropping the eyebrow pencil.
With a lingering sense of fear, she patted her chest and replied quickly, "Yes!"
After checking her reflection one last time, Isabella sighed in relief and walked out.
Having been in the entertainment industry for years, Isabella knew how to use her face to her advantage.
So, when she walked out, Flynn saw an even more fragile-looking Isabella.
Her shoulders were thin, her brows furrowed, and her face was filled with sorrow, as if she might faint at any moment.
However, Flynn's mind was preoccupied with Sophia's words, so he didn't notice Isabella's appearance.
"Flynn, you're back so soon?" Isabella looked at him in surprise.
